Opened and decanted an hour before tasting. Cedar, toasty oak, brown spices, damp earth, pinches of milkchocolate, coffee and pruney fruit. Still fairly tannic too. Does this wine have sufficient fruit and freshness for the long haul...? Now, this is good, not great.
Decanted briefly. Earthy base with spice of vanilla and liquorish. Extracted and ripe fruit of cherry and cassis. The palate intense, still mouthcoating tannin, ok balance but a slightly bitter finish. This is aging really well and will need another 2-4 years to reach its peak I reckon.

My last of these, and similar to previous notes. These wines really need time to show what they have. I remember having other vintages of this too early and they were tight and unyielding, but about 10 years starts to show what is possible. This is thick, with oodles of earthy red fruit. The real magic is a beautifully balanced chalky dryness on the finish which brings so much class. The sense of terroir is unmistakable too. I prefer this to probably any Brunello at a similar price-point and maturity.

How can anyone here say this is ready or in peak drinking window? This is clearly not ready. Killed it too early because some people here suggested it would be ready. Be aware: do NOT drink now! Wait at lest +5 years! CellarTracker was no good info here suggesting this would be ready. Please! do no drink now! Wait at least 5+ years!
Still younger than not, gave it a few hours in the glass, matched up beautifully to a beautiful NY strip.I agree with the comment below that this speaks to its roots, Tuscany grows merlot and cab in its way, thankfully, uniquely. Neither Bordeaux nor Napa can make this wine.

The structure of this really ticks all of the boxes for me. One of the best Super Tuscans I've had in a while, sitting perfectly in its drinking window at age 10.
Rose petals, dust, ripe blackberries, ripe black cherries, dark chocolate and green bell pepper on the nose. Intensity of aromas is high. The expansive palate adds cinnamon, allspice and dried green herbs; but losing nothing from the nose. The finish especially is driven by the herbs and rose petals. Intensity of flavors is high too.
Medium + body with medium acid and medium lingering tannin. Very long finish centered on herbs and flowers, which lingers for over a minute. Again, structurally perfect. IMO, this is at peak right now and should not age any longer. It wills still be drinkable for a long time; but now is the time to enjoy. I love how this manages to be varietally correct to the blend AND show an unmistakable sense of place.

60 minute decant. Powerful black pepper and red fruit nose followed by vanilla and oak. Strong and firm palate of black cherry a and grilled meats with peppery acidity and stony minerals. Narrow, focused band of tannins with cooked strawberry and dark cherry before a long leathery finish settles in, with some roses peeking out at the finish. Drinking nicely.

I was quite surprised at how good this was. I've had other vintages of this and always felt it needed a lot more time and that the fruit was too hidden, but this was spot on. Beautiful structure, with dryness on the finish and an excellent sense of terroir with leather, sun-dried tomato - beautiful drenched red fruit. Glad I've one more left.

Agree on the somewhat modern style, that aside, we loved it. Probably tasted two to three years younger than ideal; the winemaker made their wine, not a cab/merlot blend that France or California make. Lengthy finish, great feel on the tongue, will buy more

Black cherry, cassis, dark chocolate, and spice. Oak appears as a rounding element, not obtrusive. Concentrated but not heavy: considerable tannic and a zippy Italianate acidic structure carry the fruit weight. Quite youthful. Drying tannins gradually grew more prominent; the first pours were the most generous and pleasant. A high-quality wine going through some adolescent pains.

This is a wine of real dimension and structure combined with richness that walks a line between Bordeaux and New World Cabernets. It is deeply coloured with a nose of blackcurrants, dark raspberries, garnet plums, dark chocolate, Xmas spices and cedar. The palate is intense with tightly packed layers of fruit balanced by a strong line of fine tannins and cedar wood savoury balance. The wine evolved over several hours from a tight Pauillac style to that Suvereto richness and spice that is clearly Italian. A lovely bottle from a lovely producer !

Only brief notes ere. This ages very well with a harmonious and by now softly textured palate and an intense, fruity bouquet where herbal aromas are complemented by initial aging notes. Drinking window is now wide open. I poured this into a decanter and started serving immediately which is probably the best course of action.
Delightful, especially relative to my prior tasting in May 2018. Needed a good 1-2 hours of decanting to open up, transforming into much elegance, great texture, and deep fruit on the palate. Overall, tasted more like a great Pauillac or Margaux.

We very much agree with the CT community, this is a 91-92 point wine, most certainly not the 98 score by Wine Advocate's Monica Larner. Decent and full-bodied but nothing remarkable and emphatically not worth $70.
9/8/19 Another bottle, this one 91. A nice Tuscan, pleasant with ribs but nothing to write home about. Glad I only bought two bottles.

Decanted 2h. Intense dark and ripe cherry, a bit of smoke, coal and wet stone. Over time more and more herbacious notes and green pepper add complexity. Nice leathery palate. Firm tannins and acidity manage the alcohol and provide for a fully body, but can‘t fully offset elevated heat. This is so expressive that after a while in the decanter that the air actually fills with scents of herbs. A decent wine for sure, but can’t help thinking this is a bit generic and lacking character, almost like a test tube baby. Kept 1/3 of the bottle in the fridge and drank on the second day. The palate was more round and better integrated, but otherwise no significant change.

This is too primal at this age: a ton of energy and vigorous acidity (more than in a typical young chianti, for example) with some raw wood notes. Needs at least several more years to better integrate and reveal some secondary notes (scoring on potential here). Decanting helped but not by much (tasted over 5 hours).

Agree with LuckyB: this wine needs to be laid down for some time. I drank over three days and day three was the best, but still not ideal. I did not decant on day one and it was super-tight and compact--to the point of tasting like its in a dumb phase. I could still pick out the earth, berries, leather and floral notes that others mentioned. Day two was chewy tannins and still not opening up much more. Day three and the wine was coming into balance and starting to open up.

Bright ruby core; sweet coulis-like berried perfume on the nose. A little tight. On swirling interesting savoury and mineral complexity becomes apparent; good build and nice concentration, the richness building in the mouth. Pretty closed at this age, I would like to check in on this again in a few years. Decanting would be worthwhile to bring out the hidden depths.

Another encounter with this lovely wine and this was the most convincing sample to date. Tasted after 2011 Perlato del Bosco, this is a bit more spicy, smoky, more complex on the nose. The fruit is darker, the tannins are a little rounder. Very well balanced - fresh, spicy, very long. 92-93+
