Tasting with Dominique Moreau of Marie Courtin (Polisot (in the Aube)): From the oenotheque. Disgorged 2017 so this saw quite a bit more time sur latte than normal, plus it's had another 5 years to age under cork. 100% Pinot Noir, no dose, from stainless steel. Just a little darkening of the color now starting to emerge, with white chocolate, lemon curd, grapefruit and my perception this is aging really well with a persistent lively acidity. Hey, Resonance at almost 10 years old, this is really evolving well. Bitchen, as I still have a bottle in my own cellar. What a treat!

Could not form a very good friendly relationship with this particular bottle. I like Courtin, and their champagne is high on my recommend list. I liked this bottle, just did not connect with it viscerally. Probably my fault, was in a bad mood going into it. Speaking of which, don't you think your mood often effects your experience with a wine??? Does me. Something transcendental would almost certainly make me forget my crap mood. In this case, I was still in a bad mood after. Hence my comment on did not connect. How's that for a tasting note? :-) Lots of yeasty bready notes, a bit of nuttiness and yellow fruit; actually liked it better at the P&P moment, then a couple hours later. Good acidity. A bit tight. For the release price, a no brainer.

lot of brioche when first opened. too much so... not enough cut for me as previous vintages have been more in line with my acid freak palate. that said, the wine did evolve into something more memorable and enjoyable for me the longer it was open. not lacking in personality.... that is for sure.
(Disgorged in July 2016, base year 2013 with 100% Pinot Noir from Polisot) Yellow colour with a wild mousse at first before settling down with a nice stream of fine bubbles. Nose is first dominated by freshly baked bread but with time opens up showing sea shells, ocean and fresh cut tarragon in a very lovely way. Palate shows kiwi, red apples and minerals and with a ginger intense finish that feels like a very harmonious and long lasting finish. This shows such a lovely balance and is filled with personality and has evolved in a very positive way compared to when I last had it in January.. (Probably at its best 2019-2029)

Not as good as my prior bottle, this seemed a bit more simple and while it was still tasty, based on this showing there are better bubblies in this price range.

(Disgorged in July of 2016, base year 2013, 100% Pinot Noir from Polisot) Yellow colour with a stream of fine bubbles lead to the notes of kiwi, butter, nuttiness and goose berries on the still youthful nose. Palate shows red apples and minerals with a long ginger driven finish. This was a very positive and pleasant experience showing a colourful taste with a lovely finish and wonderful personality. This is good already, but will probably evolve very nicely over the coming decade. Best with 2-10 years of extra cellaring.

Delightful bubbly. First bottle from this producer and would definitely buy again. Nose has lovely lemon, apple, pear, yeast, minerality, and hints of floral notes. The palate is very fresh and crisp with excellent energy, yet without feeling tart. Lemon curd, red apple, stone, pear, and hints of orange peel. Really enjoyable on a warm evening.

This is top-drawer organic Champagne and while being extra brut, there's a softness to the orchard fruit of green apple on the nose. This compliments well the brioche-laden mousse which is rich, but not heavy and a zesty bite rounds off the finish nicely. Very classy. ****

Beautful fruity nose with lots of citrus for a pinot noir - quite typical of its origin close to Auxerre/Chablis. Also some forest strawberries and earthy mineral notes. Very zesty, lively and youthful, but not too young. This is without doubt as good as the brilliant '12.

Quite PN at first, but it’s just a smokescreen. It quickly turns thin, almost waterish.

Earthy, dirt and lemon fruit. Really great at this point. Fine mousse, just a cracker.

Very dry and black fruited. Tonight, it struck me as austere compared to tasting it a few weeks ago in the context of other Champagnes.
