Silex My take Has the funk of the janasse, once past that, which most won’t make- Broad and expansive with tension on the mid to end with the Syrah backbone. Totally integrated fruit to tannins. Really good now thru 2024

Spectacular. A big juicy red fruit sitting atop cigar tabacco, dried rose petals. New world slant, and absolutely delicious. So sad it's my last bottle.

Opened to breathe and enjoyed immediately at 1862, it took some time to open up, tannic at first. After 30 min or so big red and black fruit, nice complexity, great pairing with my ravioli with black truffles.

PnP. Perhaps we should have decanted: it was a bit tannic without, but not too much. Still has a few years to go, but good to drink now. Decent wine, dark, minerality, tastes of cherry, but not particularly remarkable either. Given the reviews here (and the price), I expected more. No regrets, but I won’t rush out getting another case.

Beef. Salt. Fruit roll-up. White pepper. Minerals. Bone dry. Somewhat heavy. Blueberry. Briny finish. Perfect to drink with ribeye. This could be mistaken for Turley Zinfandel, and the QPR is off the chart.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, prune and sherry. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), prune and oak. The body is full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Had this last night with a pork loin roast. Seemed primary and young to me. Very concentrated fruit with a bit of bitterness on the finish. I will wait a few years be fore I drink another.

Has the garrigue and wild berry of a CdP and the zesty notes of a zinfandel. Yet all together unique. Certainly could be called a food wine but shined on its own at about the 2 hour mark.

Strong dark ruby, with good legs. It took a little air, but eventually some nice jammy fruit came out on the nose, mostly wild raspberry and a hint of strawberry. Palate echoes the nose, with a firm but friendly texture emphasizing fruit over tannin and acid. Not flabby at all, but fruit forward in a nicely restrained way. Good value, too. 4-13-16-8: 91/100.

Beautiful wine. Evolving in the glass. Nose strawberry jam, coffee nibs and flowers. Nice full palate and medium finish. Very enjoyable wine with character of grenache and syrah.

My wife said that this tasted like fish. It smells like strong bitter jam and dark ripe fruit. Gamey. Compared to the 2012 Caymus, this is a lower octave on the taste (but not quality) scale. Instead of being a fruit bomb, it is deeper and more complex; the wine is on the other end of the spectrum. Black and white pepper. Silex is a great cold weather wine, and it tastes like CDP. It is a tremendous value, although my wife is not a fan. However, Silex needs to be imbibed with food.

Strawberry. Jam. Brine. Beef. Flowers. Full and rich like aged Bordeaux. Better on day two. Big, complex, and robust compared to Turley (context only). Ridiculous for the price.

TOKE_MAN turned me on to this wine and I am glad he did. A nice blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan so quite CdP like!
This wine is heavily extracted but not over the line. They captured every drop the grape had to give and then stopped.
Dark purple with a nose red and black fruits, cedar and herbal hints. Medium++ in body with decently balanced acids and ETOH. At this price point it’s a nice QPR wine that offers bold flavors that are lush and balanced.
Paired with Cajun smoked turkey and herbal stuffing and it was fantastic.

Really enjoy this bottle. Reminds me of much more expensive CdPs on the market. Dense, complex, interesting flavors and aromas. Black fruit with peppery highlights. Wide pairing range on this as I've had it with grilled poultry as well as beef stews.
Nicely done.

This wine is definitely punching over its weight. Deep, rich, complex. Dark fruits, medium tannins, balanced acidity. Superb for the price. Too bad it seems this is no longer available.

Flowers, perfume, olives, and herbs. Much stronger smell and flavor profile than Bordeaux imbibed in the tasting lineup. Excellent with Momofuku ribeye.

Nose of mustard, jam, body odor, and plastic model glue. Brine. Sea salt. Some smoke. Cranberry. Lots of cedar. Blackberry. Beef. Cigar. Some herbs. Cherry. A little sweet. Not too dry. A little PN tang, but it drank like CDP. Imposter! Perfect for lamb chops or beef stew. Perhaps a ribeye steak? High score because of complexity and balance. Maybe the best value in my cellar. Buy more immediately.
