PnP but wished I had decanted for about 45 minutes. Nice strawberry fruit; fairly rich. Some medium tannins showing. A little bit vanilla and baking spices on the nose. After 30 minutes in the glass, cola flavors and black tea presented. Nice, and likely to last a while. But quite good now.

Agree with others’ recent posts this is ready to go, didn’t need any decanting to awaken - compared to my previous bottle 3 years ago, everything is integrated, overall profile darker-toned and intense. Black cherry liqueur complicated by herbs and salinity.

This bottle has moved on nicely from our last three years go. Softer and more mellow. The fruit is less primary and more complex. Still plenty of life left.

Classic case of “last bottle in the cellar is the best.” This is ready to drink, still bright, and ready to go on opening. Cherry with cranberry and herbal notes. At peak, but you’ve still got a few years if you’re holding ‘em.

Upon opening this 2014 ribbon ridge pinot noir, it was exquisite. Beautiful balance of fruit, silky smooth tannin, and supportive acidity, all blended to perfection. However, during our three hour lunch this wine lost much of its beauty. Still good, but not the same wine that was initially opened. Of course, it's always difficult to know if the wine naturally lost its uniqueness over time, or whether the food during our lunch influenced my perception of the wine (duck was my main). All this suggests, if you have this wine, time to partake.

Still drinking wonderfully. Grippy tannins, mushroom, cigar box, and a lovely overall balance and finish that impressed all of us over cheese tonight at Katie and Tim's. This wine still has plenty of time to evolve in bottle, another 5+ years or so. Note: This wine completely held its own in a foil kind of way against the 2010 Opus One we had alongside it. Wish I had more of these.

This is still pretty big and minimal secondary. Oak is integrated and tannins are fine grained. Picked up some momentum and kindof a brandied cherry thing as it got some air. Definitely enjoyable. Might have been even better with a touch less ABV.

Bought from the winery on release. it's been in my temp-controlled cellar ever since. Didn't decant, but gave it about 90 minutes of air before dinner. Seemed a bit "hot" at first. Even more so with our simply prepared bison strip steaks with sautéed mushrooms. (I thought I was pitching it a softball....) The heat seems, perhaps, to be subsiding with time after dinner. The fruit is subdued, but each sip seems to reveal a little more depth to it. Also shows a nice glycerin-y mid-palate through to the finish. Solidly good. But perhaps not as good, to my tastes, as the original price would suggest.

No detailed notes- Mondavi Bordeaux glass- had over 3 hours. Really in a great place right now. Mature OR Pinot nose, soft palate entry, small red berries and forest floor, good umami sous bois, just ticking along on all cylinders and representing well made OR Pinot.

This wine, the third and final bottle that I have enjoyed, continues to excel. A beautiful, but subtle cherry nose, with a well balance and long finish, complimented by the Beaux Freres typical acidity.

PnP. Delivered interesting berry, cola/spice, and eventually floral aromas. Tastes of rich berry, like a light syrup. Evolved nicely in the glass. Very much a norm for the Beaux Freres style, meaning it’s quite nice. Drink or hold.

Popped and poured. This is a ruby wine moving toward pink at the meniscus. The nose shows aspects of cherry, strawberry, cinnamon, spice, anise seed, and some minor heat at the end of a couple of glasses. In the mouth, this is midweight and smooth while displaying aspects of cherry and cherry syrup – this is a bit “thicker” in the mouth than most Burgs or other Oregon Pinots. The finish again shows red fruits with a bit of natural root beer flavor. Overall, this is showing well and was very enjoyable. It is on the richer end of the curve, although not nearly to the extent as a lot of CA Pinots (or perhaps so-called Pinots . . .). 92 points.

A rose in full bloom on the nose. Ripe cherry, plum and a touch of oak on the palate. Earthy. More fruit forward than I expected. That is not bad just not optimal for me in an Oregon Pinot.

Medium purple core and a ruby rim. Black raspberry on the nose along with light herbs and spices. This has a very, very fine texture on its medium body. The fruit really pops at the finish and comes with a burst of sweet blackberry and firm, ripe blueberry. Still in its primary phase but very delicious. This would be very interesting to try in 5 to 10 years.

Dark but very translucent. Blueberry, plum and raspberry. Thin mouthfeel with bright acidity. Tingle and tartness giving a hollow midpalate. Very nice food wine yet the sum is not as good as the parts, not delivering on its component promise. That said, a quality Ribbon Ridge pinot to drink over the next 2-3 yrs.

Savory blue and dark fruits with depth of flavor and a solid structure. Just starting to enter into its drinking window, as this bottle was better than previous tastings of this wine in earlier years. Early on this was quite reticent, but started to show its wings after being open a couple of hours. Drinking well with a good decant, but this would probably benefit from another year or more of aging.

Fantastic wine that clearly has some additional benefits to come with more cellaring. But great right now. Lots of fruit underneath the slightly tannic structure - cherry is particularly predominant at this time but with a lot of length to the finish and some zingy tannins at the finish. I could drink this every day.

Superb Oregon pinot noir. Ribbon Ridge does it again. Immediately upon opening one gets a burgundian nose. Nice hints of barnyard soil and forest mushroom. I love that. It subdued after about an hour, but still present. The palate was a lovely and complex - may layers of dark fruit and floral notes. This is a full bodied wine but without the intense fruit of many California pinot noirs. The finish was long and decadent, with obvious acidity on the tail end. I expect this wine to get even better over the next 2-5 years.

As expected, a beautiful pairing with tonight's cedar plank wild sockeye salmon. I'm usually a PnP guy, but decanted this one. Only gave it 30 minutes until the first glass. Not sure I perceived much difference in the last glass, a few hours later. Quite nice the whole time.

I served this in my wine course. Typical Willamette low pitched ripe nose with gobs of spice. Medium to full weight in the mouth with good balance, leading to a long spicy finish. Paired well with wild grilled salmon.

Wood spice and bright red fruit, floral, touch of heat. Medium in body. Tremendous palate, full of life and energy and fruit on the riper side. Small amount of tobacco / cigar box. Medium plus acid and a bit of grip. Mouth-filling finish. Drinking nicely.

2017 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/16/2017-10/25/2017 (New York City, NY): Black raspberry, blueberry, orange peel and mulling spice aromas characterize this medium ruby wine. Similar flavors reside in a fresh, medium-bodied frame with nicely integrated alcohol and fine-grained tannins. The oak is present but is by no means overwhelming. Dense on the mid-palate and finishing long, this is a quality Pinot quite deserving of its accolades. It is already showing nicely and should provide pleasure for several more years. Drink now-2025.

Deep ruby. A powerful style with dried red fruit and desiccated rose aromas complicated by notes of hot soil and vanilla. Nearly full bodied, but with a certain litheness to its baked fruit and soil flavors.

Translucent medium ruby color with delineated legs in the glass, this wine shows layered notes of black currents, cherries, and fresh cut flowers. The perception in the mouth is velvety smoothness and sweet spice with low acidity, while the weight has some heft to it perhaps because of the 14% alcohol and the substantial, ripe extraction. The finish is persistent and expressive.

Nose is damp earth on the PnP; later rich old worn leather and light sweet floral notes. After it opens more some oak comes out. It evolves for certain which you can't complain about. Medium bodied with a silky mouthfeel - it's a well balanced wine. Tart red fruit characterter on the palate - cherry and plum. The finish is intense and lingering and it changes shape as it goes on. Quite mellow and drinking nice, looking forward to letting the other bottles evolve a bit and trying in a year or three.

PHMG WAG: 2014 Oregon Pinot Noir (Lyon Den): We liked this a lot but the '15 more! Deep red fruit more than black, floral, baking spices, and earth notes buttressed by some acid and tannins. Wait 6 months-2024.

Very floral nose with tastes of cherries and other fruit on contact. Decanted for 1/2 hour and for a very young Pinot it was mellow with slight acid or effervescence. A few more months and this will be a home run! Enjoyed it with Italian meatball hors d'eouvres and short rib tortellini. A strong 92 going higher as it matures.

I couldn't resist the urge to try this given the raving review from WS. The simple conclusion, it's just too early. Gobbles of red fruit that are not yet integrated. Too much alcohol showing, even with food. Wait five years and you'll be rewarded.

Very syrupy. Opened up after about an hour but still heavier than I expected. Might be an off bottle.

Very pleasant Willamette Valley Pinot. Red fruits and crushed rocks on the nose. Well-balanced on the palate. Long pleasant finish.

Just a sensational Pinot. It easily drinks up to its accolades, and I’m glad I have a couple more in reserve, although that’s just not enough.

Decanted for 90 minutes. very nice, but not excellent — what you would expect for this price point. Liked the 2012 Willamette Valley wine better at a much lower price point.

WS # 3 completely underwhelming. How the pros scored this 95 is beyond me.

Reasonably good...but still a bit too early. More full than a typical pinot noir...made in a style to please RP!

RQP ***1/2
Pas donné à 120$can
Content d’en avoir une autre, mais trop cher pour encaver en grande quantité.
Prochaine pas avant plusieurs années.

Deep ruby. A powerful style with dried red fruit and desiccated rose aromas complicated by notes of hot soil and vanilla. Nearly full bodied, but with a certain litheness to its baked fruit and soil flavors.

I have always enjoyed the Beaux Freres style, rich and almost creamy with blueberry and cherry notes...lush and full bodied, but not heavy.

Very new, young, a little herbal-stemmy note, ripe pure fruit, black raspberry darker fruits, sweet sour finish, slightly rustic tannins, very primary and a bit disjointed/too new. Needs 2-3 years.
