Stood up for 48 hours. 3 hour decant and then consumed over 3-4 hours. Not a lot of sediment. A little disappointing. Nose was muted and tasted too tart, overpowering the red fruit notes. Paled in comparison to a vibrant, delightful 2019 Tempier a couple of years back. Have two more bottles and will stash away for a long time in the hope that this wine is going through a dumb phase or that I just experienced some bottle variation.
Very interesting to read the tasting notes . This bottle is very open brightly fruited but with depth and for about the first time ever makes me appreciate why Lulu Peyraud liked to serve it youngish and cool .

Mourvèdre (~ 75%) with Grenache and Cinsault and a smaller proportion of Carignan and Syrah, 14% vol.
Decanted an hour before dinner. Nice nose with berries, liquorice and a suggestion of garrigue, on the palate it would have been better with a much longer decant, it was still quite tart, medium+ bodied and medium length.
Classic Bandol, needs food and a long decant in the current state, I will wait a couple of years with my next bottle.

Mourvedre Story - Bot river (Beaumont Winery): Intense nose of scorched earth, leather and tapenade with hints of hung game, smoke and mineral. The entry displays a vibrant acidity and savoury profile with a more linear progression than expected. The acid adds a freshness toward the mid-palate as it segues to an earthy, puckering leather-edged tannin. Still relatively compact with a long finish. There is a more sour fruit inside.

Deep color. Nose with dark fruits, blackberries, griottes, black currants. Meaty with leather hints. Palate shows incredibly smooth tannins for the young age. Dark fruits with a nice savoury note. Excellent balance and nice freshness with a warm finish. Drinks excellent already but has a very good aging potential.

Opened and decanted 2 hours ahead of sausages and root vegetables. Deep, murky purple color. Nose brings cherry blossoms, red lavender, garrigue, forest floor, black tar, and allspice. The palate is medium, square, velvety, and rich, bringing brambly blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, rhubarb, and tangy high-toned orange peel notes into a structured, tannic finish. The silky depth and texture of this wine is impressive. Drink 2022-2028. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

Big mistake opening this bottle. Drunk over 2 days. First day, this was just totally shut down. It was one big square wine, monolithic. Fruit was there but almost faded and short at the same time while showing some heat. Next day, some cedar and herbs notes but still short, aggressive wine. You keep looking for something but nothing comes out. Not balanced. Very disappointing.

PnP. Dark ruby. Youthful and expressive nose of dark cherries, blueberry, red flowers, forest floor with some spicy and herbal scents in the background. Medium bodied with medium tannins and balancing acidity deep flavor and medium to long finish. Drank half the bottle over three days and kept very well, losing "flamboyance" and sweetness along the way and getting deeper and more savoury, with some sense of saltiness, which made it even more complex. Excellent wine. 92-93

I was expecting this to be tannic and difficult to approach so young, but it has a wonderful hit of bright red fruits, with a hint of darkness in the background. The fruit is so bright it keeps the tannins at bay. After a couple of hours in bottle the tannins are starting to come through, but this is so lovely...l simply don’t understand how I am going to keep this longer than a year or so!

Moderate black purple in the glass. Lots of promise on the nose which offers blackberry jam, licorice, spice, and garrigue backed up by full bodied dark fruit and nice tannins. I’m a fan of Tempier rouge, nevertheless, aromas of Brett and the off-putting Band-Aid finish are disappointing, although I popped and poured and suspect a short decant would have been beneficial.

Monthly tasting club LTC 2018-04; Mourvedre (@ MvG): Beautiful bouquet with dark berries, cedar, tobacco and forest impressions. Already quite developed for a three years old Bandol from Tempier. On the nose liquorice and black berries, a bit discreet but very nice. On the palate quite smooth, good concentration and acidity, medium length. Drink now with a long decant but will be best between 2020 and 2026. Compared with other vintages of this wine not a real long runner I think, 90+.

amazing succulent red wine with complex scents of roasted meat, wild herbs, licorice and blackberries, dark and barky, dry and earthy, dark cherry, cinnamon stick, plum, anise and black raspberry flavors, the complexity is carried effortlessly, this achieves elegance while remaining rustic, will age well, will go well with a hearty meal or some cheeses, Tempier Bandol hits the spot every time for me

I just love Bandol. A classic from southern Provence. Deep purple with dark fruit and earthy/leather aromas. Very smooth, complex. Long finish on the palate. Black and stone fruit. Wonderful tannins. I'd rate a bit higher if not for the fact that on day 2, it fell apart. That was surprising and a bit sad.
Pours really thick and inky. Mushroom minerality, cheek-ripping tannins, super unripe purple berries, earthiness in balance although it's the base that holds it all together. Massive, young. 3.5

Magenta-toned fruits mixed with blackberry and lavender are backed by briney olive and subtle meaty/ blood sausage notes. Good crisp underlying mineral traces. A touch wild when first opened, which went on to show a slightly brambly side. Medium+ weight with some tannins on the backend. I wouldn't call it heat, but there was a certain kick on the tail end that feels warm. As tasty as this was, it was supremely outclassed by a Baudry Les Granges (2015) that had been open for six days.
Good

Has such a vivid, inviting colour. At first there’s meaty reduction on the nose. With air you get black cherry and Satsuma plum. It has a little vanilla and some vitamin B smells. The palate is full and juicy but not heavy. It has a line of graphite and breezy acidity and was equally at home with both duck and lamb.

2014 Tempier Bandols (SF Wine Trading Company): Medium red. Clean black fruited nose with some garrigue. Fairly light for this wine. Nice brambly, spicy side to accompany the fruit. More acidity than tannin at its core. A fresh vintage for short and mid-term drinking.

Tasted at the Domaine with Mrs. Peyraud, this was a side of Tempier I'd never encountered before - bright energy, creamy, intensely fruity, vanilla, blue/blackberry jam, tannins, and garrigue. Bottled in June, methinks this will be totally different in 6 months, and by the time it hits American shores. Can't wait to try it when it starts to integrate and settle down.

Only very brief impressions: Elegant, medium-bodied expression of Bandol. Nonetheless sweet and mouthfilling with impeccable balance and accessibility. Not cheap but always a treat.

On the palate dark berries, herbs and spices, chocolate, good acidity and round, still youthful tannin. Already a pleasure, an might even show more finesse and complexity around 2025. 90+ for tonight.

Dark fruit, spice and herbs really nicely balanced and flat out delicious. Could gain a bit over the next few years but very nice now.

Dark and spicy on the nose, liquorice and herbs
Pretty firm and unyielding at the moment but feels like everything is in place so should be very nice indeed in a few years. If you're opening now give it a good decant

Bar Von der Fels
Tried 6 wines through multi course tapas style dinner (the best way to enjoy)
Dark purple/black. Ballsy Mourvèdre style. Bottle open for at least an hour so tannins settled down enough to enjoy. Med+ mouthfeel, berries, spice, funk. Enjoyable first time.

amazing succulent red wine with complex scents of roasted meat, wild herbs, licorice and blackberries, dark and barky, dry and earthy, dark cherry, cinnamon stick, plum, anise and black raspberry flavors, the complexity is carried effortlessly, this achieves elegance while remaining rustic, will age well, will go well with a hearty meal or some cheeses, Tempier Bandol hits the spot every time for me

Very Tempier vintage. First of the 2014's and its reaching a good place now. Looking forward to more of these in the coming years.

Floral, violetty nose. Slightly dilute on the palate but with great freshness. In many ways I prefer this to riper vintages. Needs a couple of years. ***

Good

So young and tightly wound that it came off fresh. It needs three to five years to unwind. The wine imparted the impression of an approachable vintage by Bandol standards. 90-91.

91++?

Lovely! Deep red hue, nose of salted butter, buttered popcorn, rose petal and cassis. Tannins are young, with acidity pronounced, so let this breathe a bit at open. Should age well. Perfect with ratatouille and pecorino.

Darker purple color, bright rim; dark fruit, typical Mourvedre on the nose, slight leather on the finish; better than previous vintages have performed; I feel there are more grapes going into the Rosé and a better selection of grapes are going into this; good.
