Advanced and oxidative aromatics of burned sugar, tons of nutty flavors, a layer of caramel. Bruised pear fruit and apples. Nice intensity on palate which still showed sufficiently fresh while also sporting a fine layer of cream. Bubbles mostly gone, however.

Tasted double blind. The wine showed well, particularly after some aeration, becoming more complex as time passed. The quintessential Taittinger style was evident throughout. However, for a higher score, I would have preferred more effervescence. It earns a solid 92 points.
TN: This wine, lacking in bubbles, offers a fine tapestry of caramel, citrus, smoke, and herbs, supported by mineral undertones and adequate tension and acidity. A slight oxidative character is present but integrates well on the palate. With time, it gains in brightness and fruitiness, with quince and honey emerging.
Decanting: No extensive decanting needed.

nose of toasty brioche, marmalade, very nutty, and also smoky like aged tangerine peel. So rich on the palate with a lot of depth. Drinking absolutely beautifully.

Davyd's bday at Dakota poolside. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, amber gold colour. Thin legs. Some remaining small bubbles. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of mushrooms, almond nuts, kumquats, tangerines, citrus, some faint floral perfume (or was it the air fresherner? haha). Developed. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, low alcohol |(12%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of tangy citrus kumquats, tangerine, nuttiness, wet stones, and a layer of honeyed cream. Long finish. Very good quality. Clearly very old and time to drink up already. Could have been better a couple of years ago. Acidity sensation dipping, and bubbles almost gone. No rancio yet for this bottle luckily.

Dim Sum Club at Yan (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): Not bad, but about time to drink up. Golden coloured in the glass, the nose was really developed, with oxidative, rancio notes dancing around aromas of apple liqueur, honey, caramel and bit of savoury white meat at the sides. With time, the oxidative notes actually lifted off a bit, revealing more of the sweet honeyed tones. The palate was full and rich in Tattinger style, with roasty toasty nuts and biscuits, alongside large scaled flavours of ripe, almost liquered apples, honey and sweet lemons, all spiked with just that touch of sherries rancio notes moving into a citrussy finish. Mousse had almost died, but there was still a lively hit of acidity keeping it alive. Very mature, but still just about alive enough to keep I it fun. Drink up though!

Leiden spring dinner: Really lovely mature bottle. Most of the bubbles have dissapeared. Dark amber colour, taste caramel, nuts, medium acidity. Drinks very well.

Deep Amber in the glass. Far more advanced than this wine should have been at this point, probably a poorly stored bottle, although it came in the original gift box. Weak and musty nose. Overripe and browning tropic fruit, bready / yeasty, and metallic through the finish. Iodine and copper. Effervescence nearly all gone. Drinkable but just barely, quite a let down. Hope the '85 is in better shape.

Sampled 2/19/11. The wine had lost most of its bead but its color alone told me the wine had not yet gone too far past its peak. Although the fizz was limited, it was still present throughout a 90 minute dinner. The wine's green apple and tangerine notes were a little muted by some walnut and caramel notes, but the wine was more than good. I have it an extra point for its longevity. Drink now and hope it was stored properly all these years.

WB Boys Weekend; 10/14/2021-10/17/2021 (Highlands NC): This lasted for about 5 seconds. There was a little darkness, a little fizz, and a cool hard lemon candy that had melted, then a little toffee. My wine.

The best one of a flight with three 82's (Mumm Cordon Rouge, corked; Veuve Clicqout Carte d'Or), but a little bit tired because of acidity lack. 90
