  • Took my Mom to Canlis (Seattle) last Thursday and splurged on a bucket list producer. First time drinking Roumier and wow did it deliver. The nose was maybe a bit shut down but the pallet was explosively elegant. Up front was the structure - strong spicy tannin, immediately followed by perfectly balanced acidity which cuts right through. Then the fruit hits… It start as a red sour cherry bomb and slowly evolves into blacker sweater fruits as it dances towards the finish. And wow what a finish. I can see how this wine will easily age for another 20 years, but as someone who is a structural taster I truly enjoyed drinking this young. Funny enough, if I had to draw a parallel to another wine I’ve had this year, it would be a 2014 Antica Terra Ceras. I came away from this experience floored by Roumier, but also with a new appreciation for the quality that Maggie is delivering down in the Willamette. Wine is fun.

  • Obviously way too young to drink now but the richness of the vintage helps it show it's potential which is very high. There is a bright, sappy, lengthy finish with delicious dark cherry fruit and a powdery, intense finish. I love this bottling from Roumier and this should be a great version starting a decade or so from now. At Zachys BYOB La Paulee. 93+

  • Zachy's La Paulee 2022 (Le Bernardin Prive): Beautiful fruit, crushed stone, spicy and meaty. Crazy perfume. Lots of substances here, immensely delicate but powerful, a wine I keep coming back to and like more than others. 94-95

  • Of course this is young and primary but 2015 is just so juicy and giving and offered plenty to justify an early pop, especially from a list at a good price. My previous Roumier experiences recently with surrounding vintages like 12, 13, 14 and 16 across the line always seem to be shut down and just simply not ready to drink. But 2015 Les Cras wafts from the glass with gorgeous floral and juicy dark fruit aromatics. The palate is pure silk with an incredible purity and focus to its ripe fruit expression and underlying mineral backbone. It saturates and wraps around the palate with stunning length, fine grained tannins and vibrant lift. Lovely at this stage, but in 10 years it’ll stun.

  • Roumier Chambolle-Musigny Cras 2015.
    Subtil eleganse.
    Stram i anslaget.
    Stramme markante dog finkornede tanniner.
    Nydelig vin. 93p for nå.

  • The bouquet is lovely with some spice and elegant notes of cherry and violet. The mouthfeel is equally elegant with pure and smooth acidity and a stunning minerality that delivers a great length with some cherry fruit on the finish. Huge potential.

  • Domaine Roumier Cellar Visit and Tasting (Day 4, Visit 2) (Chambolle-Musigny): Tasting at the domaine. Black berries, black cherries and red cherries with alluring aromas, followed by bigger and brawnier flavors, then very firm in the middle, followed by a softer finish. So much of everything here makes this approachable, but this really wants to be left alone for a decade or two.
