From 3 liter. Gained depth with airtime. Overall this had less cut than desired, particularly from this format. Attractive overall balance to the palate.

Tasted blind from magnum, this wine had deep yellow/light gold center with clear rims. The nose started off medium intensity at first but grew to be high- intensity and showed citrus, limestone, apple, pear, with butterscotch and vanilla flavors.
While this wine was medium bodied at first, it then grew to show impressive intensity. It wine was rich and ripe with huge acidity and incredible length. It also needed hours of air.
Even in magnum, this wine was clearly at its peak. I am very sensitive to oak and this bottle had just a touch more than appeals to me. Of course, it was fantastic and I would have scored it close to perfection if the oak elements were slightly less intrusive. Other high-level tasters scored it higher than I did. A special treat for Murray's birthday!

Ken's 60th Birthday (Smyth - Chicago, IL): Golden color. Nose is clearly showing oxidation with honeyed mature orchard fruits. It does have that signature mint note, which is interesting. Palate is dense but rather flat. A bottle that feels over the hill.

Ken's 60th Birthday (Smyth and The Loyalist - Chicago IL): Dark color and correspondingly advanced aromas and flavors. Spearmint hints to start with ripe and poached pear. Great concentration, with buttery textures. then good length. Not even close to the quality level of two better bottles at a dinner last years. Fell off after 20 minutes in glass. Probably "90 point" level tonight.

A powerful wine showing roasted nuts, lemon oil, and dry extract. Dense and big with loads of nuance. Seems tired. Good breed here clearly, yet somewhat chunky and firm. Overall, good, yet over the hill.

Served a little too cold at first and took some time to open up, but then it did. Wow. Minty, floral and exquisite balance and long. Deserving of legendary status

Montrachet: Ramonet v. Drouhin (Highlights): Gorgeous nose with wafting ripe yellow fruit. Pleasant degree of reduction. Savoury, nutty, white florals, white rubber, sulphur. Spectacular bouquet, just awesome. The finish here roars on. Can easily recall this the morning after. Decidedly takes wine of the night. "Game changing bottle" as one sommelier put it.

Lacking the same level of vigor as a bottle consumed two months ago, this still had a reasonable amount of depth and richness to the palate. Flatter profile to the finish than the best remaining bottles. Improved for the first 45 minutes of air time.

I was VERY lucky to have been given this French "white label" (versus the imported label) bottle by a friend from Paris over a decade ago. An amazing wine at almost 25 years of age. Deep golden color (I was worried about oxidization when poured, but thankfully no signs). Nutty, vanilla, rich flavors. Wonderful structure with finish that lingered for 30+ seconds. As the sommelier said "this bottle was a real unicorn"

On a downward slope. This bottle displayed noticeable, but not fatal, oxidation.
