From 3 liter. Gained depth with airtime. Overall this had less cut than desired, particularly from this format. Attractive overall balance to the palate.

Tasted blind from magnum, this wine had deep yellow/light gold center with clear rims. The nose started off medium intensity at first but grew to be high- intensity and showed citrus, limestone, apple, pear, with butterscotch and vanilla flavors.
While this wine was medium bodied at first, it then grew to show impressive intensity. It wine was rich and ripe with huge acidity and incredible length. It also needed hours of air.
Even in magnum, this wine was clearly at its peak. I am very sensitive to oak and this bottle had just a touch more than appeals to me. Of course, it was fantastic and I would have scored it close to perfection if the oak elements were slightly less intrusive. Other high-level tasters scored it higher than I did. A special treat for Murray's birthday!

Ken's 60th Birthday (Smyth - Chicago, IL): Golden color. Nose is clearly showing oxidation with honeyed mature orchard fruits. It does have that signature mint note, which is interesting. Palate is dense but rather flat. A bottle that feels over the hill.

On a downward slope. This bottle displayed noticeable, but not fatal, oxidation.
