Just a gorgeous wine! Dark red/purple color, almost opaque color, fresh aromas of dark fruit, hints of dusty oak and graphite. Long legs in the glass. Dark fruit flavors (plum, blackberry, black currant), with echos of oak, a bit of minerality, and tannins balancing the lush fruit texture. Long, balanced finish of fruit and oak. I’d say drinking at its peak right now. Great QPR!

Entirely drinkable, but that's it. I have no idea why this wine is highly rated. Reflects my previious opinion, I thought maybe give it a couple years and the answer is - nope. Bright, simple, fruit flavours - ordinary finish - straightforward wine. Have 2 more bottles and don't feel they will improve with age - but I will give it a shot.

Appearance deep dark garnet, opaque, med viscosity (15 abv). Nose packed with black cherry, raspberry, mint, tobacco and eucalyptus. Mouth mostly the raspberry and freshness of eucalyptus, med plus acidity, med minus tannins, med body and finish. Went quite well with a veal and truffle charcuterie. Non-Rioja/Ribera Spain needs to be explored more... thoroughly enjoyable wine.

I enjoyed the last bottle, but this one was sharp with a bite mid-palate. Jammy at the front but really muddled in the middle and with a short finish. Good value, and if it was like the first bottle my rating would be much higher. Really disappointed by the inconsistency. Wouldn't waste my money on a 3rd try!

This wine is a very nice QPR. I have had three different vintages, and all were quite pleasant in both aroma and taste. Old vine garnacha gives it a darker purple and a richer taste than younger grenache vines.

I forgot how ridiculous this wine is. Just delicious; I think it was the first thing to turn me onto Grenache. The fruit in this vintage is slightly less... red than I remember, but there's an added note of menthol and herb that makes it interesting in a new way. Crazy good. Buy it.

Nose: Mixed red berries with cocoa powder and cinnamon, forgotten in the fridge and starting to go bad (in a good way ;) ) Mouth: Kinda, sorta, the same, with a squeeze of lime.
Bottom line: Kinda reminds me a of a classical, high-end Oregon or Central CA Pinot. If the finish stuck around for any appreciable length of time (it doesn't), this stuff would warrant scores in the 92-93 range. Yup, it's that good.

Medium Ruby color. Medium + nose of red cherry, vanilla, chocolate, and some decay- farmyard perhaps. Nose is still developing. On the palate, dry wine with medium body, medium (-) tannin, medium acid, with flavors of cherry, cinnamon, chocolate. lots of perfume, lavender perhaps. Really opens up with air time- became intensely aromatic as the evening wore on. Would drink now or within the next 1-2 years.

Very nice wine. Had with shrimp tempura and it was delicious. Nice dark fruit and chocolate out of the gate, well-balanced, and decent finish. I'm a fan of this type of garnache. Its energy and youthfulness reminds me of the 2010 Alto Moncayo Veraton I drank back in 2013, which has mellowed out since then but still nice on my last tasting in mid-2016. Because of this, I think this lovely Borsau will last at least another 3-5 years.

First of all I'm a huge Tres Picos fan, but I don't understand how Wine Spectator can rate this wine in their top 100 list for 2016. Like most others have noted this wine needs air. Day one the wine was a little tight and focused showing tart cranberry and bright cherry flavors with a bitter finish. Day two the wine improved, the mid palate was round and smooth and the fruit component changed to a more dark cherry/berry profile, although the bitterness was still there I think with time there maybe some improvement.....not a top 100 wine by no means.

Consistent with prior years, this is an excellent value wine with a complex flavor profile. A few hours open does the wine some good, as the wine opens with a tart cranberry element that smooths out a bit and comes into balance over time. Subtle vanilla oak and pepper round out the palate.

I picked this up given it's WS top 100 placement. This was also opened 3 hours prior to tasting. Immediate bouquet of cherries and crushed blueberries. On the palate the wine is well balanced and ripe with an overall velvety texture. Finish is all vanilla with lingering flavors of cherries.

100 percent Grenache wine, made in a modern style, originating from the slopes of the Moncayo mountain (at an altitude of 600-700 meters, vineyards between 35 and 60 years old – clay and limestone soils – province of Saragossa). Maturation: the wine was aged for five months in new French barriques. Decanted: one hour prior to tasting. Color: intense cherry-red color with purple hues. Bouquet: aromas of blueberry, elderberry, kirsch liqueur and a hint of incense and menthol. On the palate: a youthful, full-bodied wine dominated by ripe and elegant black fruit, with a silky texture, a good acid core and quite smooth tannins. Satisfying finish with some notes of vanilla. Well drinkable now, but with potential for development over the next couple of years.
