This was an outstanding bottle of wine. Great Napa cab from a very good vintage. Dark, opaque purple, vanilla and some berry on the nose, great classic Napa cab flavors with a soft tannin finish. I have one bottle left which I will save for a special occasion!

From a well-cellared bottle that was decanted off of its sediment, this opaque ruby wine was serially tasted over a three-hour period. Loaded with dark bramble fruits, fig, bittersweet chocolate, licorice and Asian spices, it is a full-bodied, freshly acidic offering with with seamless alcohol (15%), proportionate oak and polished tannins. Layered on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this has gotten even better than when last tasted 12/31/2020 and will have greater longevity than previously projected. If you choose to pop the cork at this stage, give it an hour or more in decanter. Drink now-2033.

Best after breathing for 30 plus minutes. Fruity nose with a hint of earth, red fruit typical of cabernet, medium body, medium tannin that feels soft in the mouth, medium long finish, but still youthful. More enjoyable after second day when fruit came forward and it seemed more balanced and open.

After finding this case in the back of the office basement we pnp'd a bottle at lunch. The nose was all fruit. The palate dark berries, plums, fig, and a touch of chocolate. The finish was moderate to long.

From an ideally cellared bottle, Turley's 2013 Estate Cab was decanted off of its substantial sediment and serially tasted over the ensuing four hours. Laden with blackberries, fig, Asian spices and gravelly earth, it is a medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic wine with ample fine-grained tannins, well-woven oak and nicely integrated alcohol (despite being listed as 15%). Plump on the mid-palate and finishing medium-to-long, this is a delicious, well-balanced Cab that has plenty of fruit and structure to provide pleasure for another 5-6 years. Drink now-2026.

Lovely wine, light bodied, full of charm and character. This is a delicate cabernet not one that is going to "explode" in your face or mouth. I'm actually warming up to this offering as it is quite an exciting wine by the Turley estate. It really grows on you as it continues to emanate exotic flavors, aromas and spices.

No formal note, the nose is a little on the green side but the palate does not reflect this in any way. Reasonably good bottle of cab but the QPR is not great, this is a little to expensive for what is has to offer.

Rating based on the wine itself, not based on this wine being a Cab. Might have a lower rating if this were being rated on its merits as a cab. Deep purple color. Jammy (in a good way) delicious red fruit nose. Plumb, raspberry, and a bit of freshness (hard to pinpoint). In the mouth, plum sauce and cranberry with a long finish with notes of tobacco at the back end. Smooth tanins. Just a superb wine.

From magnum purchased at the winery. It was polished and a fruitier style. I tend to prefer a bit more tannin and herbaceousness. Solid crowd pleaser, and in no way the overripe, overdone Ubiquitous Napa style that is made to garner points and $, but are difficult to drink.

Pretty awesome to try as you just don't see these every day. You know that feeling you have when you think a wine is going to be in one style and instead it is the polar opposite? That's what I experienced with this one. If Hi-C made an alcoholic blackberry juice box, this would be one of its prototypes. And I mean that as well as I possibly can, because this wine was solid like all the other Turley wines I have had in the past. Finishes well. At first the tannin seemed pretty stiff and the finish was a little bit abrupt. After an hour or so, there was more blackberry pie, hint of mocha, some black pepper to the finish. Nice wine. Wondering how the other cabs I see in their profile drink versus this.

(Tasted at the winery.) This wine can be summed up in one word: Wow! That is, if you’re in the mood for a highly extracted offering. Best Cabernet to date from this winery more renowned for its Zins and Petite Syrahs. Doubly pleased that Larry Turley revisited his “Never Cabernet, never” promise of years ago. Right out of the bottle (magnum) this had a shy bouquet and palate that unfolded in the glass in the first 15 minutes. After that, more Wow! Firm yet integrating tannins that build on the palate throughout a long, lusty finish. Still very primary with a basketful of black, blue and dark red fruits. What a thrill. If still rating wines, this would earn a 99+ in my notes. It’s that good. Drink now with a one-hour decant to enjoy the fruit. Drink 2025-2030 to see if it develops secondary notes. What a thrill. Two magnums purchased.

I have had nearly a dozen of these now and I think this was the best of the bunch. Purchased directly from the winery, these wines are singing right now. Funky start but after an hour the fruit was present and accounted for. Blueberry nose, some cassis on the pallete, and definitely a finish with great balance between tannin and fruit.

Decanted for 30 minutes. Full nose of cocoa, clove and leather traces. Rich palate of deep red fruits and currant. The estate property is in St Helena AVA where most of this varietal is sourced. Compared to other vintages of St Helena this Cabernet lacks the rich tannins and noteworthy terroir of other AVA offerings. 15% ABV is a bit high suggesting youth of the 30 year vines relative to the area.

(Tasted at the Turley Pickup Party) Thumbs up high on this one. Serve this at cellar temp. Was pretty enthusiastic about this offering when it first came out. And this has settled in a beautiful place, having become much more integrated with time. Raspberry and cherry liqueur with some cranberry and cassis to provide backbone. Touch of oak throughout. Aged cedar and creosote in the finish. Bravo! (= Outstanding)

Dark, inky purple. Dark fruit primary on the nose, with a bit of hazelnut and vanilla. Very smooth in the mouth, coats the palate. The fruit, dark cherries, plums and cassis, dominates, but there is structure, soft, almost playful tannins. Long finish. I think this could be a reasonably serious wine, but served at Jon’s rehearsal dinner, it was quite the crowd pleaser, hence the three bottles.

This wine has continued to develop nicely. Decidedly a cab, it still had a few hints that reminded me of Turley Zins. Plenty of fruits with a solid backbone, but not overly tannic. While not past its peak, I would drink this sooner than later.

As is usually the case with me, I PnP for me initially just to see where this wine is at and it comes highly recommended. I tried ‘The Label’ which I did not like, so why not give the regular Napa Valley Cab a shot. I have noticed, the 2014 vintage has taken a considerable leap in price, so this vintage could be a value. It’s a dark purple wine and that’s appealing with a compelling nose. On the palate, tart berries, plum, tobacco, leather and some minerality. I find this Cab to be firm, acidic and tannic. This vintage is still young but I believe it will age nicely. Not bad for the money $45. I think this is a better Cab to enjoy with food . I also believe this could be a wine that I wish I would have brought more in a couple of years from now. It’s a good wine, but there are better values out there that suit my palate

Pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon while also showcasing Turley's house style. Restrained use of oak, substantive mouthfeel, medium plus acid and body, light tannins, great balance, lingering finish. Fine wine indeed!

Still deep crimson and packed with dark bramble fruits, anise, gravelly earth and cedary oak, this medium-to-full-bodied, fresh wine retains structure yet approachability. With ample fine-grained tannins lurking in the background and beautifully integrated alcohol (listed as 15%), it stays dense on the mid-palate and lingers nicely on the back end. It should be enjoyable for many more years. Drink now-2025.

(Tasted at the Turley Pickup Party) The best Cab. Turley has produced. Tegan indicated that it might be because they're finally getting that vineyard into shape. The 2013 vintage probably helped, as well. Offers up restrained and refined dark fruits with some cassis and dust in the bouquet and finish. Fine, integrated tannins. Food friendly and one you'll want to allow to unfold over the course of an evening. More please! (= Outstanding)

Very good young Napa Cabernet with an overripe style in an excellent vintage. I was tempted to call a Caymus, but it is a bit more serious in style. Good length, good acidity and not heavy at all.

15% abv. Dark ruby with appealing claret aromas. On the palate, plums, cassis, a touch of graphite minerality. Rich, deep and long with a gentle but firm tannic backbone. Should show significant improvement over the next 6-8 years.

2+ hour decant. First impression was "hey, a zin maker has a cab too". Fairly straight forward. Dark fruit and fine but dry tannins dominate. Pairs well with a grilled steak. It's still young and needs a little time in cellar to mellow and integrate but otherwise pretty good. Agree with previous notes by TOMOFCT and ECB1456.

Long time Turley collectors but first time with their Cab for us. Enjoyed the wine, and found a good mix of backbone and fruit with a moderate bite from tannins. Reasonably well balanced; definitely not a fruit bomb.
By no means a highly refined wine, and perhaps a bit pricey for the quality, but a very pleasant wine. We are drinking this young and expect it to age well for a few years.

This deep crimson wine combines density and richness with restraint. Dark bramble fruits, anise, gravelly earth and cedary oak reside in a medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic frame. The fine-grained tannins lurk in the background, as does the wine's 15% alcohol. Solid on the mid-palate and lengthy on the finish, this estate bottling sets the stage for Turley as a Cabernet producer to be recognized. Drink now-2025.

PnP for initial assessment. Fruity nose with hints of vanilla. Comes out as a hot jammy mess with little complexity. Almost Zin-like with limited green pepper on the backend and subtle almost non-existent tannins that somehow leave your mouth pining for water. After 1 hr decant, nose opens to a light pepper/dark cherry with some leather notes. Some jamminess remains but more dark fruits open up and a minty spiciness follows. Tannins are incredibly dry and a glass of water with this bad boy is necessary. Good dry spicy finish. This needs some time to sit down but with some air it is very good now paired with some heavier red meat or darker sauces. Let's see how this one ages.

Unlike prior bottles of the same wine (of the same provenance), we found this one to be a bit of a disappointment. Nothing wrong with the bottle, just a relatively uninspired experience.

What a pleasant surprise; this wine had wonderful fullness and good depth of flavor; well-balanced dark red fruit with lasting finish.

Very good cab for the money great look and mouthfeel with dark fruits, cassis and tobacco in the bouquet and finish. Fine, integrated tannins. Very Food friendly and I let it sit overnight and even better the next day. I am going to lie done the rest for a few years and wait for them.

First bottle of Turley cab and it was a nice Cali wine experience. Drinking well already - better with good decant. Dark wine that is reasonably well balanced already. Some cassis, tobacco and cedar on the palate and nose.

Very Turley in character. Extracted and full flavored. Very fine tannins, velvety mouthfeel. A few years in bottle might provide some improvement.

Very good young Napa Cabernet with an overripe style in an excellent vintage. I was tempted to call a Caymus, but it is a bit more serious in style. Good length, good acidity and not heavy at all.

This punches below its weight. Does not have the elegance of the Turley zins or petites.

15% abv. Dark ruby with appealing claret aromas. On the palate, plums, cassis, a touch of graphite minerality. Rich, deep and long with a gentle but firm tannic backbone. Should show significant improvement over the next 6-8 years.

Drank alongside the 2012. The 2012 is noticeably better at this point, but I'll be surprised if another year on its side doesn't continue its evolution...

Very drinkable for being so young. Black cherry, plum, anise, oak spice, medium tannins. Concentrated flavors. The kind of cab you'd expect from Turley. Decant needed. Nice QPR. Very enjoyable with air.

May improve over the next year or so.
