Starts out slow and flat but opens after 45 minute decant with subtle raspberry cola and hints of perfumey flower. But never quite gets established. Doubt it has more to offer from aging or longer decant.

Italian Tasting Group (Bella Puglia, Five Dock): Served blind. Dusty, baked earth, black cherry, sweet spice. Lashings of tannins and medium plus intensity acidity, black hued fruit, sweet spice, the fruit persists long with the tannins. Non-intrusive alcohol warmth shows on the end of the finish. More shame as I thought this might be some kind of super tuscan blend about 10 years old.

Excellet QPR as this wine punched way above it's price. It took a while to open up, but when it did there were layers of pencil lead, black cherries, ripe plums and red figs on the nose. Wonderful layers of ripe figs, cherries, toast and cedar. Long finish and wonderful mouthfeel.

upon opening, shy on the nose but bursting with dark cherry fruit. Decanted 1.5 hours. Evolves into complex notes of black cherry, leather, spicy tannins and minerals. Really fairly deep fruit providing a most satisfying finish - but still with considerable sharp, dusty tannins and moderate acidity. This should continue to develop over the next 5-10 years. Recommend hold! 90-91++

PnP our bottle. Loam on the nose with blueberries, strawberries and pencil lead. Soft layers of mint, licorice, coffee and baking spices. Very nice Barolo but a short finish.

At dinner with family. Informal notes. Slightest bricking along the rim with a garnet core. Nose and palate are well balanced and structured showing ripe plum, tart red and black cherry, rosehip, and gravel. Midpalate has a superbly weighted texture that is really rich and velvety yet springs to life with judicious acid leading to a long, red berried and orange peel finish. Really nice now with much more to evolve into in the next 3 years. Paired incredibly well alongside truffled chicken cacciatore.

Had with food-spicy Italian sausage grilled-a necessity. Very rustic nose bordering on possible corked-but I have had over 40 corked one bottles the past 8 years and know the difference. My wife reconfirmed. Leather horse saddle with dark berry and cherry nose. Typical Barolo that had spicy pepper elements that could stand another 4 years. Palate mimicked the nose characteristics with cherry, spice, and acid. The addition of strong tannins and balance with the food made this a great wine.

2nd bottle consumed after the first was badly corked (though I'm not sure what less badly corked would look like). Pure barolo nose - fresh, red berries, mint. Lovely. Moderately intense mouthful of acid and tannin that give the wine a real vibrancy. Will likely improve but also enjoyable now.

Enjoyable young, give it an hour to open up a bit. More on the citrus side of aromas as opposed tar and roses. Not a classic, or a powerhouse, but enjoyable young.

Rusty red. Nice legs. Excellent dusty red fruit nose of dried roses, spice, and ripeness. Very inviting and forward. Very fine palate, piquant, dry, died cherries, dusty soil. Fine finish. Should last for years. Definitely on the lean, leathery side, but it does that side proud. 4-13-16-8: 91/100.

A really nice Barolo, drinkable now. Ruby in color, smells wonderful, nice body across the whole palate, and a complex finish with lots of tannin. This will age well, but worth trying a bottle now. Decant first. Very solid value at $27 - $30.

My first experience with quality Barolo as I continue my exploration of Italian wines. Mildly transparent light ruby colors with a silver, almost grayish edge. Definitively Old World style, reminding me of Bordeaux in terms of structure but involving a more complex fragrance and distinct flavor profile of dark fruit, coal, licorice and spice. Great finish but still tightly wound, this should mellow out and improve for decades.
Day #2: Still amazing with floral elements emerging and excellent length. 10 years and this may be closer to 94-95

Medium-deep reddish garnet in color. Forward, attractive & fragrant nose of youthful & still developing ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & plums with earthy & floral overtones of roses, dusty, loam, dried herbs & minerals. Medium bodied with a good concentration of smooth textured, balanced, youthful & still developing, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries, strawberries & & pomegranate with herbs, earthiness, cocoa, spices & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & extended airing and will benefit and develop further with additional aging.

Still tannic and acidic. Probably should have waited a couple years and/or given it a long decant.
