In my opinion, The best wine of our 5 Cabs last night. Big fruit and good balance, and the wine invited you to drink even more. Very similar to my last tasting note, but probably drinking even better.

Outstanding example of a Hall cab. Drank on its own and with an impromptu salami and cheese plate over course of 2 hours. Held incredibly strong and really didn’t fade at all. Maybe just shy of peak, but barely - wish I had another bottle. Drink now or hold 12-18 months.

Received a partial bottle from my Oenophile neighbor. 15.4% abv 96% Cabernet Sauvignon; 4% Merlot
Served with Baked Salmon. Beautiful dark opaque red in the glass. Heavenly nose of Cassis and Dark red fruit. Full-bodied; Big, Bold, & Lush. Nice acidity for a pleasantly tart, lingering finish. "May I have just one more sip, Please!"

5/21/2016 rated 93 points: PHMG WAG: 2013 Napa Reds (Lyon Valley): More open and fruit forward than the Turnbull before it. Blackberry liqueur, cassis, plum, and oak notes. Structure is there but enough fruit to compete. Now is good, better in 1-2 years. (2959 views)
Well, it WAS better! A little more complex and stony. Structure is still obvious if you want to wait 3-5 more.

This wine is drinking very nicely right now. It has developed so it is no longer huge like most Hall Cabs that are young. It had very good balance with Black cherry and chocolate powder and moderate lingering tannin. One of Hall's better values! And it will last for lots of years.

This wine didn't disappoint. Dark purple color with long legs. Nose is very subtle, but smooth - ripe blueberries, hints of licorice and dark chocolate. Full bodied wine that starts big and just keeps growing on palate. Smooth on front with dark berries, grows with cherries and dark currants, BIG finish of pepper and baking spices. Brings out of some bright red berries abd tight tannins on back. This wine doesn't stop and keeps on growing. Needed no decanting or time out of the bottle. This still has plenty of cellar time.

I disagree with many here. I love the style of all the Hall Cabs and 2013 is a great year but I have always liked this one the best. And again I think this wine is better than the Kathryn hall or the 1873. Very Hall Cab style but with a subtle power that is super elegant. With just a little time to breath it’s just delightful with pizza and cheeses. I Wish I had more of this one as it is youthful and sure to improve but it’s New Years so if it’s gonna be a Cali cab tonight, should be a great one. Save the next for 5 years if possible. 94+

Not quite as rich or full bodied as other Hall Cabs I have tasted, specifically the Stags Leap and Spring Mountain, but still very good. I thought this was highlighted more of the savory, herbal characteristics. Yes, there was evidence of raspberry and blackberry but more prominent were notes of clove, pepper, black olive and chocolate. This is still young at 7 years and will continue to improve as the tannins and fruit become more integrated.

Decanted and consumed over the next couple hours. Although a pleasant wine, it was just too forward for me and didn't have the signature Hall tannins. In all fairness to this iteration of Cabernet Sauvignon, my palate begs for elegant and tannic wines. Howerver, my lovely wife loved this wine and would probably rate it a 93+. She has already staked out a claim on the remaining 3 bottles in our cellar.

This is a great wine and we tasted it against two phenomenal wines; it held up well and QPR was without a doubt the best of the three The flavors of black fruits, lead in this wine with a sweet and smooth middle and a smooth and tight fruit and tannin on the finish. It was not quite as big as the other two but it is still built for the future. I expect it to be wonderful for at leas another 15 years.

The tannins are here after 3 hour decant. This would be prime in 2-3 years . Its my only bottle....but its good!
The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, cranberry, oak and vanilla. It tastes like cranberry, cherry and pomegranate. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long.

Lots of nice black fruit, tobacco leaf, anise and pepper. Nice mouth feel, soft. Obviously at this age there is some astringency on the finish. I think this wine has a lot of potential.
Revisited on day 2 and this wine was fantastic. Velvety soft and all the rough edges smoothed out. This wine has a ton of potential, especially for the price point.
