Medium body, good garnet color, there's a light pine forest spice note on the nose; I have always loved this wine, with its juicy, spicy, quintessential Anderson Valley fruit profile, plenty of balancing acidity, just the right level of fine tannic structure, almost a Vosne spice, this seems to be aging very slowly and gracefully, retaining all its character, while softening just slightly. One of the finest Copain Pinots produced.

The wine looks ruby colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. The body is light/medium. The wine finishes short. The wine has medium acidity. Delicious same night of the bottle opening.

Zoom tasting with the wine group; 10/22/2020-10/23/2020 (Zoom): Light ruby with slight purplish edge; high intensity aromatics, red berries, seems almost like it could be whole cluster, except that cellartracker lists a specific whole cluster bottling which this was not (I think...), slight smokiness, a sweetness to the fruit common in New World pinots; palate is light-medium bodied, superb medium-plus fresh acidity, certainly a richer denser pinot than the red burgundy served beside it, but not heavy or plodding at all, low tannins; finish is medium length. This was well balanced and incredibly drinkable, but also quite complex. 92

Tasted blind. Very interesting nose of red berries, wild strawberries, and spices. Medium tannins with nice, refreshing acidity and more strawberries/cherries flavors. Good, quite long finish. Lovely Anderson Valley Pinot!

Pomegranate, raspberry, candied apple, earthiness, forest floor, spice. Medium body & acidity. Light tannins. Medium-long finish. Good now, but I think it will still improve with more time.

Quite dark garnet color, wonderful nose of dark crushed berries and some enticing pine forest, with interesting spice notes; the dark fruit palate is deep and intense, with an unusual flavor note, almost gamay-like, some of that same spice comes through, with excellent acidity, and some moderate but slightly gripping and mouth drying tannins. Very youthful, but a fascinating, deeply flavorful, complex and delicious wine.

Gave this about 60 mins of air and poured a few glasses before I got a good taste for this TN. Started off with some 5-Spice and clove in the aromatic, the oak on the top of the wine. It settled in with air. This is a satisfying mix of cranberry, some dark fruit and a medium texture. It collides some richness with the precision of the red fruited tang that has some grip in the finish. This isn't as 'sweet' as I called the wine in my 2017 note, and it has improved and shows a better complexity and depth, too. Can likely age and get better but I am enjoying this now for what shows. My final bottle.

Gorgeous cherry, cranberry, cola and hints of vanilla.
This is very good young, but needs a bit of time to open up. I really feel it could use a couple more years in the bottle to hit its stride. Not too much in terms of serious notes as I enjoyed it over thanksgiving with guests.

I liked it when I tasted it a year ago and I like now. A little brown sugar and molasses nose. Very dark color. Fruity red apple and very tart raspberries. Could call it cranberries and this would great with turkey, might have to make a leftover sandwich with all the fixings.

Opened this yesterday for Thanksgiving dinner. Retasting today during a quiet afternoon here. There is a lot of stuffing here, mainly seen in the palate intensity of the earthy, blue and cranberry fruited palate that is a bit jammy. There is good energy in the acidity that comes through, as well as some minerality, then it closes with the jammy note. In terms of this being suitable for a Thanksgiving meal, it's a locked-in match because of the cranberry quality. This is a good wine, it's just on the perceived sweeter side, which I hope settles and fades with my remaining bottle.
Had this over two nights, better on 1st day as it became more restrained into 2nd night. Young, yet approachable. Medium-bodied with notes of red berries, mineral, Asian spice, and wet leaves. Fine firm gritty tannins, crisp acidity and medium finish.

750ml; PnP; Medium burgundy color, medium viscosity; Intense aromas of red fruit, spice, and hints of alcohol; Intense flavors of cherry, rasberry, and especially cranberry and ruhbarb, with savory and slight herbal components. Nice flavors. Great length for the flavors and acidity. Nice wine - maybe better in few years.

13.3% abv. Deep burgundy in color, very expressive aromatics. On the palate, cherry, cranberry, earth and asian spice. Good depth, excellent length. Light, lively and savory. This Pinot should continue to improve for several more years.

The Deep End - Anderson Valley (FMIII in the OC): This wine is on the riper side in the flight. Nose gives that away as there's a caramel and molasses. Good structure, little prickly tannins, ripe raspberry and apple flavor. Drinking surprisingly well at this point. Lot of people liked this one in the flight.

Anderson Valley Deep End tasting at my place; 10/22/2016-10/23/2016 (My Place): Arrived this week. Opened about 45 mins ago, put a light chill on it. This is the 3rd vintage of Wendling, eager to try this. Aromatically, faint hint of matchstick and graphite. Little plusher and fruit driven than the 14 Rhys Bearwallow, which is across the street from Wendling. That wine is more about cherry, this is more about red apple and darker raspberry. In fact, I had some organic raspberries for lunch a few hours back and it tastes quite similar to that purity, just a little darker than the berries. Good depth and I'm going to let 5-6 hours of air do it's work on this via slow ox....over dinner, this showed a bit rough, and my notes say slightly boozy, which is odd as this is listed at 13.3% and I rarely use the term boozy for any new era Copain wines. Tends even to a black fruited profile, riper edged. Finishes rocky, barrel sample-like in tone. In the finish, there is some red fruit lurking in the core but it seems buried under the youth. This will need time, and of note to be fair, this is unreleased.........able to retaste following AM, so lots of air now. Boozy quality is gone, this is very plush and fruit centric now. Picked up some cranberry tones to go with the darker fruit. Based on how this tastes now, like it much more, shows what air can do.
