Still going strong with loads of sunny and tangy cherry fruit and abundant spice. Interesting note of orange peel. Time to enjoy these as it is showing it’s age and I don’t see any additional upside.

Had it at a private tasting side-by-side with 2004 Williams Selyem Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir, 2007 Hirsch Vineyard Food Bank Cuvee, and 2007 Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir San Andreas. Bottle opened for 2 hours before pouring. 2000 Williams Selyem Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir exhibited the best integration and velvety mouth feel. Seems to be still within its best drinking window.

Moderately dark ruby color. Nose of violet, dark cherry, mixed berry. Very fresh and vibrant. Palate also very fresh. Like recently picked berries. Sweet strawberry, blackberry, cherry with smooth cola and vanilla nuances. Drinking very young for a 2000 CA PN. This could have certainly aged well for some time to come.

Smooth, really nice, especially for 11 years old. Light body, a little tart, but some dark fruit, nutty, a bit smoky, toasty. Went great with salmon dinner, and sipping afterwards.

Dark cherry up front, blueberry on the back, with dominant earthy notes that lend it a ton of sophistication and integration. this is a lovely drink and I would guess peaking, but last bottle, I'lll never really know! (and this is from a Bordeaux dude) Looking down at the notes below, I would really have to agree with the chocolate, but subtle, subtle.

This wine opened slowly and despite my scepticism still has a few more years of life. Cherry and black fruit evolved as this wine took 55-65 minutes to open. Long smooth finish of 30 seconds or more.

Dark. Big, slightly over-ripe dark fruit nose. Rich with nice fruit, soft tannins. Fair amount of acidity on the finish. Nice fit with pork loin. Opened after a corked 95 Hirsch.

On day one this was very sullen with a lot of barnyard funk and acid a little out of balance. Much more expressive after a day in the fridge. Dark berry, bitter chocolate, pine needle and peach stone. Energetic, silky mouthfeel and nicely textured, delineated finish. Seems to have another 5+ years in it.

Cork broke. Decanted for !+ hrs in am. More advanced than 2 years ago, but still tight and acidic. I liked it more than Ellen. Hopefully will continue to improve.

Blackberry, crayon and gunpowder on the nose. perfect amount of acidity. Well balanced wine. Silky and spicey/earthy with impressive length. Ate with Christmas Goose, Rotkohl, and bread pudding.

Just beginning to show itself. All the Pros said it is very tannic, and requires patience. They're right. Now a tight wine, with good fruit, that promises to develop well. Try again in 2010, should be good to drink through 2020.

Wild strawberry, blueberry and plum fruits and there is that characteristic pine needle, asian spices, dark chocolate and grilled meat. The palate shows just a little watery, though it added weight over a couple of hours. Still a little tannin remaining. I have often found Hirsch Pinots to be volatile and rather shrill, but this has a fabulous balance of a wide spectrum of fruits and gamy, foresty elements. I suspect that this will improve in the bottle and peak in 2-3 years.

Deep ruby color with little fading. Classic Hirsch nose of ripe cherries and iron minerals. Medium-bodied pinot with good intensity and rich bing cherry fruit. Very minerally on the finish which is a little bit hot. Tasy but not the best vintage of Hirsch.

Quite nice and reasonably youthful. Dark cherry with a tell tale cola note.

Chicago Wine Flock..."Various Expressions of Pinot Noir" (My home - Chicago IL): Tasted blind in vertical. Purchased from WS at release. All red fruit with good spice and coffee hints, moderate signs of evolution. Much less density or power than I recall from when tasted 5+ years ago.

This bottle seemed to be getting a bit tired with fruit beginning to fade leaving minerality to be more prominent.

Decanted 45 minutes and double Venturied and it still took about another 1.5 hours to sing. Consumed at Baywolf with Mac.
