Semi blind tasting flight of 6. Blind for the rest of our group. 2014 DuMol Finn, 2009 Jaboulet Chapelle, 1988 Sandrone Cannubi, 1999 Tignanello, 2014 Cos d'Estournel and 2017 Penfold St Henri
Full of fruity, meaty, flowery notes, a touch of acetone. To my taste, a bit generic and heavy this time. Not an obvious PN, Dense but not big. Good balance but maybe the fruit is a bit too much. My previous bottle seemed more elegant. The gorup's no 1 red of the flight by a thin margin.

Clear garnet. Nose was medium expressive with secondary notes. Lovely balance with medium long finish. At this stage in its life drink it against village cru burgundies. I enjoyed with fresh troll caught king salmon.

This is a really nice pinot noir. Opened two hours before dinner. The nose is all fruit with hints of spice. The palate is blackberry, cherry, plum, a little bramble with a hint of spices leading to a moderately long finish.

5/22/23 Sunday. Soft cork broke in half. Deeply stained end I typically see in other grape varieties. No bouquet as of yet. Soft wine but not played out. But offset by nice mouth feel earth and some kind of mushroom scent in glass. Magenta color, almost dirty is the word that comes to mind. Lighter at rim. Not deeply colored but also not indicative of a weaker wine. This is the Finn signature flavor. Expected a little more flavor from fruit, but wine into secondary flavors. Having with charcuterie of my own making. CT currently has this at the end of its life but this is wonderfully evolved, and the signature Finn flavor is now coming out with almost one hours glass time. This wine needs time to open up. Once it does it reveals its essential flavors. Next day the wine was softer and didn't hold up like I hoped. The Finn flavors were present very nicely day me but receded day two. In my experience most single vineyard pinots last at least ten years and peak but not this one. The secondary flavors however were decent and true to the Finn pedigree. Not the best Finn showing but worth consuming upon opening. Drink now.

15 months since our last bottle. Decanted an hour before dinner and drunk with garlic chicken. Confected fruit and cherries on the nose. Rich red cherry, black cherry and a lovely silky creamy texture on the palate. There is plenty of weight to the palate and lots of body to this wine, particularly for a Pinot Noir. Medium finish. This continues to be a fantastic wine that offers great complexity. This bottle did not shine quite as much as the previous one but I believe that was at least in part down to not flollowing my own advice that this wine is best drunk by itself.

Highest ranked Pinot vintage and vineyard I have ever given. Just everything you want in a Cali Pinot. Keeps getting better last bottle was a year ago. Only one left. Will wait to 2022

Pop and pour. Clear raspberry-colored at the rim, shading to dark violet-red at the core, very youthful in appearance. On the nose, a beguiling hybrid of strawberry, cinnamon, clove, and meyer lemon - there is a tiny bit of astringency in the aromatics, but it adds to the overall impression. On the palate, medium-bodied, more burgundian and less RRV in style than previous Finns have been, but no worries, the fruit is still there.

Sadly my only bottle. Decanted half the bottle, Entire bottle was downed within two hours and it was a great accompaniment to panseared salmon, spinach and duck fat potatoes.
Not as heavy as many Dumol’s with strawberry, laurel and rhubarb on the nose. Light on the palate but very enjoyable, Rose lapped me 2 glasses with this, which is unusual for any wine and downright frightening for a Pinot, which she typically doesn’t enjoy. No rush but I'd drink by 23 or 24, sooner if you prefer Dumol for its typically hearty approach to pinot.

Confected fruit, cherries and a touch of menthol on the nose. Rich red cherry, black cherry and a really suave and silky creamy texture on the palate. There is quite a bit of weight to the palate and a real sense of body to this wine. Medium finish that lingers for a good 30 seconds. At 14.3% the alcohol did not stand out or in any way detract. This is a fantastic wine that offers great complexity and IMO is best drunk by itself. Drunk over 2-3 hours after a one hour decant.

This rich and elegant Pinot is drinking wonderfully right now, with a tasty mix of candied red fruit and lively acidity. Pale red in color and medium in body, the wine offers aromas of raspberry, dried strawberry, and fresh walnuts. In the mouth, the flavors include sour cherry, rhubarb, cloves, and warm straw, with a sweet and lingering finish. 14.3% alcohol. Drink in next few years, but no rush.

Smoky nose with deep palate of morelo, black cherry, orange peel. Continues from the midpalate to a long 20-30 second finish. Lot’s of fruit without being overdone. Great balance.

After time in the decanter it yielded dark cherry, plum, earth and vanilla with a long finish. Still young, this is elegant enough to come across as a very good 1er from Cote Nuits in a warm vintage. You still think Cali pinot when you drink it though as at times the fruit was too angular. 93 with upside very good

Lovely bouquet and a lovely wine.. so svelte and seamlessly elegant l. At half the price (of UK retail USD 100 equiv) I'd buy a dozen but at this level I want a stronger personality to come through though I'm not typically a 'pinot guy'. For pinot fans this is a really classy affair. All that said this really is a glorious wine. After an hour or so decant it's seamless and so so elegant.

A really stunning wine with great fruit and purity. We drank it over two days, but there was so little for the second day we could really decide if the second was any better.

One of the best structured and most balanced pinot's I have tasted. Great tannins that were well integrated, just enough cherry to make it interesting but not overwhelming. This was a pnp for me but it definitely was better as the night went on and it opened up.

By far, the best young Pinot I've ever had, bar none. Ethereal nose with strong hints of cherries. Beautiful color of bright ruby red. Striking fruit on the taste and through the finish. Not overpowering or jammy, but tart and always there. Mid palate smoothness showing trends of complexity for such a young wine. Velvet tannin with a touch of acidity for the first 1/2 hour. A smartly promising all-star wine. Wanted to test it the wine about 6 months before the estimated start of the drinking window and it was outstanding!! Thank God I bought a case!

A blend of two vineyards planted in 1981. Luscious red berry and black cherry fruits. Some spiced plum too. Very primary and very good with outstanding intensity.
Did a blind tasting of three 2014 Pinot Noirs; Du Mol's Finn, Kosta Browne's, Gaps Crown and Rochioli's, Little Hill. The majority of people liked the Du Mol Finn best. A drinker of Du Mol for over ten years, I found this wine to be maybe their best pinot ever. Deep garnet color; Wonderful pinot nose and Delicious red fruit flavor. Medium bodied with long silky tannins. Drinks quite well even without any decanting. Only opened up and got better as the evening went on. Glad I have a few bottles left to lay down for several years.
