One of the backbone wines of modern Australian chardonnay and it is more than ok!
Quite a reductive nose with notes of nuts, citrus, green apple and some vanilla. Lovely supple and textured body that is so Adelaide Hills. A very clean and lively palate with nectarine, lemon meringue and nougat creaminess. A lovely and balanced finish.
Drink from 2026 to 5+ years after.

Fresh white peach and grapefruit aromas. Beginning to show some bottle development. Though this drops away a little. Primarily grapefruit on the palate. Some bottle complexity but secondary to the primary fruit. Lovely wine though needs further time. At 8 years it’s still young.

Clean cut apple some sweetness, not a lot on the nose even with a decant, nice balance with acidity and a freshness about it, not very long and fairly simple, decent wine but is it VFM , not sure. Can't see this improving, to me it is as good as it will get.

Nice again, and I thought overall balanced, but with a bit of cut to it I enjoyed to go along with fine fruit, maybe a bit more apple and lemon came through.

15 SS M3 And elegant and backwards iteration of this wine. Does not have the richness of other more recent vintages, and still has a way to go in the cellar. M3 builds size and complexity and texture with age. Hold. 93

Nice initial impression in nose and palate that only improved. Some oak, green apple, lemon, lightly mineral, palate seemed to get cleaner and more transparent with air time. Moderate body and length, lightly rich, lovely finish. I did not get strong vanilla, pineapple, rather loved the ultimate clean, balanced acidity and fruit.

Very new world; Toasty oak, caraway, Apple, pinnacle, orange marmalade, lemon curd, the flavors gone on and on. Very tasty, but the wine could do better by having a longer finish.

Tasted at The Wine Society's Australian tasting, Reading, UK. Light lemon gold colour. Good nose, struck match. Subtle fruit, green apples. Just the right amount of oak showing. Elegant and rich. definitely needs food.

Clear, medium lemon in appearance. Wonderfully balanced expression of this varietal from Adelaide Hills - my favourite non-WA chardonnay. Medium+ and developing nose of citrus (lemon), white flowers and vanilla. Crisp on the palate with lemon, white peach and malo driven butteriness. Dry, medium bodied, with medium+ acid, medium alcohol and finish. A very good wine but not cheap at $40+

NobleRottersSydney - Henschke (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {screwcap, 13%} [Kim] Cedary oak and sandalwood. Yeasty barrels on the palate, some tangy grapefruit flavours. And plenty of oak. You need to like oak here. Medium weight, medium acid, medium length. Perhaps too young. Perhaps too woody?

The last bottle of this that I tasted was defective (how does this happen? - especially as it was part of a batch) but this was just lovely. Rich bouquet with hints of melon. A dry wine but with some sweetness. Chewy. Tropical taste with lingering finish. Beautiful. Faith restored.

? Bottle sickness on opening, note screw cap. It didn’t pass though until the next day, it was ok then but not great. Had this before and it was great so an off bottle I think

Shaw and Smith (Adelaide Hills): Pale-medium intensity lemon color. Smoky, oaky, buttery nose with rotting lemon. Palate shows less malo and oak influence than the nose suggested; lemon curd. A bit lacking in acidity.

Drank with sue and joe ... and Boofy. This is good - high pitched nose. Color young. Delicious stone fruit flavors wrapped up in a soft oak ‘coat’. Soft but long spice finish. New world but v good.

Shaw & Smith/Tolpuddle tasting (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Rich with medium plus intensity aromas of toast, butter, sweet spice. Peach fruit is lost beneath this to a certain extent. 'Big' Chardonnay nose. Juicy acidity, spice, peach and also some citrus notes as well, slight front of mouth grip, touch of butter. Nice but a bit young - needs time to settle down if you will.

This is a return to the more powerhouse style of M3 after a few leaner styles since 2010 from memory. I believe this is better balances than the older incarnations and whilst the oak is apparent it is balanced and somehow just works
Very fragrant stonefruit, obvious smoky oak. Length, depth, drive.
Assuming that oak folds in just a smidge this will be a real stunner. Its already a stop you in your tracks wine now.
$40 ish.....sold

Restrained aromas, more richness on the palate. A lovely, fine Aussie chardy. Better with 2-3 years on it.

I felt like a bath and a Chardonnay this evening. Which was odd. I ignored the former in order to pursue the latter sooner.
I last had this in June. I thought it was in fair shape then, but it is really on now. I might be in same boat come to think of it.

This is starting to open up nicely now. Beautiful drinking. Don’t have it too cold, just chilled is best. Really loving this.
What a difference time can make to wine ... Guns’n’Roses were right after all.

Lot of oak on nose; pale, almost watery SB colour
Fair acidity; nutty toast, white apple and lemon with long fresh acidity to finish
Pretty good with potential to improve, but not what I had anticipated given general commentary
