Sweet cabernet and aged oak scent. Pulls through on the palette, no minty backbone but the same semi-sweetness. Tasted blind, would have given is 2010 approximately, little more aged than 14 imho. Freshness med-, but it is not a lazy wine. When i saw market value i had a shock, would’ve estimated 150 euro.

Not great. Some people might like it but I found this to be inky, disjointed, and with a strange mint running down the mid palette. This did not drink anywhere its price point.

Does not have the power, punch, taste profile and concentration I would normally look for in a wine of this caliber and value. Maybe it needs more time?

Beautifully resolved tannins that feel creamy and soft, yet still providing structure on the finish. A sweetness, violets, but also, mineral, blackberry jam, and blueberry. The oak is not over powering. This probably falls a little short of the near 3 digit “norm” for this wine, but a beautiful wine in a middle of the road vintage.

The 2014 Maya is within a good drinking window right now. Seductive aromatic nose. Silky tannins. Full body. Bright fruits on the palate. The finish is very long. The wine kept on giving till the last sip after 5 and half hours.
IMHO one of the finest cabs from Napa Valley.
Looking forward to revisiting in 2 years time.

I took my time with this bottle and didn't rush it like the last one. The rewards were as expected. Minimum 2 hour decant and enjoy over hours. Everything I expect from a Maya. While I am not always a fan of Cabernet Franc, Maya is rich and fruit forward. Delicious wine!
A bit disappointing, just not the quality wine one would expect at this price range. It is tasty and certainly pleasurable but lacks outstanding quality and complexity one would anticipate with Maya.

Decanted and followed over a couple of hours. Wonderful. Black currant, tobacco, mint, plum and a subtle bit of earthy funk. Good structure, with firm but fine tannins and flavors of black fruit and plum. Silky and seamless across the palate. (R&D)

Occasional dinner group: Great whites and Cult Napa (@ Merlet): Beautiful dark and red berries as well as sweet spices in the bouquet. On the palate the same impressions, beautiful acidity and round, slightly sticky tannin. Power and elegance in the bottle. Still a good future.

Yes, this wine has a powerful, slutty Napa side but that is well balance with the strong herbal component and elegance and sophistication from the large Cabernet Franc portion (40% of the blend). All that made this wine my WOTN in a 13 bottle lineup including some stars (Screaming Eagle 2013). Complex, well-defined and just great to drink.
TN: Intense and sexy nose displaying ripe dark fruit, spearmint, coffee, some meaty notes and a nice fresh herbal component. Same on the palate with a very well balanced aromatic profile showing some red fruit, coffee, spices, earthy notes, riper dark fruit and again a lot of herbs. Intense, powerful but embedded in a very soft and silky structure and a good freshness which keeps is elegant. Cannot be served to warm as some heat might show. But overall a really nice, balanced, well-defined showing.
Decanting: No extensive decant. My impression is that 2 hours in the decanter might do good things here.
Tasted blind. Blueberry, blackberry, sweet spices, rather cool fruit, chocolate. Nice velvety palate with tension and structure. Still young obviously and could be a bit more expressive. Over time in the glass opening up, however.

60/40 Cab franc/Cab S in a restrained fresh style. Top notch wine of the two. Much better than the Estate. Great fruit and a near perfect balance and with a good structure for a wine that needs years to come around properly. A formidable wine but what a price tag! 96-97p

The best wine at Prowein 2018. Compared to the Verite Muse 2014 there are classes between the wines. This one is sophistated, balanced and elegant. Great concentration without annoying oak and vanilla. Fine acidity giving freshness and precise late-palate. 97+

The nose was dark, sweet and spicy showing crushed blackberry and black cherry with sweet dusty spices, all kept in check by hints of dried orange, savory spice and minerals. On the palate, I found soft, enveloping textures with creamy plum, currant, and cherry giving way to sweet tannins The finish was long with saturating red berry and blueberry fruits, dried orange, exotic spice, and saline-minerals that lingered on the senses.

Not going to rate as we didn't give it anytime to open really and it was a bit closed off. I'm recommending 3 hours at least.
