Decanted for 2-3 hours before tasting. Strong cassis and wet oak on the nose got my hopes up.
Unfortunately i think this bottle was a year a two past its peak. Lacked a bit of fruit and acid so it was mostly a tannic experiance. It was still a good wine with oak and cassis notes but for the price of $46 I expected more from a 13 year old grand cru Bordeaux.

Disjointed and tannic even after a few hours of slow ox. Intense blackberries after wading through a thicket of tannins. Pumped down overnight and it has mellowed out some, but still not as well integrated as the previous experience back in Feb. Faint leather on the nose. In addition to black fruit on the palate, lots of iodine, acid, and tannins on day 2. Unmistakably Bdx but by no means my favorite.

2005 Bordeaux wine tasting. Double decant. Stored at 57 degrees. Maybe opened a bit early. Lots of oak. Medium to heavy on palate. Tobacco, leather, plum, blackberry, with a peppery cedar and vanilla finish. A little on the new world sided. Give it more time.

Still quite primary, although at least showing some development to not make this a complete waste of time if you were to open one now. Very black fruits, quite a bit of oak and heaviness on the palate, although with time this feels as though it will integrate. A decent decant helped smooth out some of the rough edges. Good potential.

C: Garnet, slight rusting at rim N: Creme de cassis, coconut, herbal, forest floor. P: Congruent with nose, medium acid, medium tannin, medium+ finish, smooth, supple tannin, well integrated and balanced. At least 12 months new french oak.
Guess: Old world, cab sauv + merlot (actually cab franc/merlot), Bordeaux, 2005. Guessed a Margaux, actually St. Emilion.

I did not enjoy this one bit. Someone just turned the knobs to 11 on this one. It's not that it's too ripe (flavors are dark and plummy, but not sweet or candied), nor even too fat (the proportions are fine), it is just too much. Feels like someone left a wine to simmer and reduce overnight, or stuffed this with concentrate.

Day 1 -- Maybe a bit early in opening this, but wanted to give it a try. Medicinal nose, soft on the palate without a lot of structure and scaffolding. I will give my remaining bottles some more time. Day 2 -- this is much improved, 90 or 91. If you have this in your cellar, keep it on its side...

Popped 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 4 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, black berry pie filling, licorice, leather, earthiness, and smoke. Palate: Medium to full bodied, tangy dark fruit attack - plum, blueberry and black berry; soy, tobacco, and spiciness appear mid-palate, some rough edges appear toward the back-end. Tight and very young at the moment, but there is potential lurking here. Deep fruits with sweet tannins that should allow this to develop well over th next 10 years. A touch chunky at the moment, but this will pass. Impressive.

As my previous note; red as well as black fruits and a firm amount of tannin which is a bit drying in the finish at the moment. The wine needs at least another 3+ years to really show its merits.

Tour de Bordeaux; Next stop: St. Emilion @ Roel's (Netherlands): Nice and pure black fruit on the nose. Stylish blend of cocoa, vanilla and cedar. had at a bordeaux tasting, my favorite of the bunch, though competition was light. Closed at first, but a somewhat floral boquet of violets and red fruit. Smooth finish, tannic as expected at this age. Looking forward to trying it again in a few years.

Nice red fruits on the nose (mostly raspberry). On the palate: good acidity but a little one-dimensional - I realize I'm drinking this very young - a little creaminess as well, not overly tannic. This showed the best right out of the bottle (drank over three days).

Decanted for over an hour. It really needed the extra time. A young promise, with ripe red berry, cherry and plum. Also tones of licorice, vanilla, mocha and 'terroir'. Great acidity, a bit raw at first but with good length and strenght, with increasing elegance. The fruit is ripe. Tannins are playing all the way, but they are never overwhelming. Give this Corbin a few more years at least. 90+points

I was not terribly happy with this wine. I did decant it for several hours. It seemed as if the wine was still suffering bottle shock. Maybe it was a tad corked as in the previous review. I found it to be lacking balance and structure between what little bit of fruit was on the front and the harsh tannins on the finish. I have 2 other bottles and will definitely cellar them for quite a while before trying this wine again.

The first bottle was mildly corked, so a new bottle was opened. Lots of red cherry, currant and plum qualities on this - red fruit and more red fruit. The oak treatment is judicious and nicely integrated. A nice little bottle, all things considered, and showing nicely right out of the bottle.

Around $30 @ Costco and worth every penny. Decanted and started to come alive about hour 6 (with vigorous swirls each hr.). Red and black fruit, earth, tar, and mineral at this stage. Substantial tannins that dry the mouth and whiff of acidity at the end. Went well with prime strips.

Good freshness and poise, tannines are a little chalky, but nothing to worry about. Seductive, open and highly drinkable. Some cellaring potential. 16.5-17/20

Dark ruby, clear. Fruits, figs and a little oak. Medium/full bodied.
Balanced. Round, smooth and elegant.

Decanted one hour and aromatics and flavors were a bit muted. Half hour to 45 mins after that subtle fruit and rounded tannins enter into play. Finish on the shorter side. Definitely improved into the 2 hr mark but there are much better wines for this price.

had at a bordeaux tasting, my favorite of the bunch, though competition was light. Closed at first, but a somewhat floral boquet of violets and red fruit. Smooth finish, tannic as expected at this age. Looking forward to trying it again in a few years.

Good ripe red and black fruit juice with a firm dose of oak. Sticky tannin and good bitterness. This wine needs 3 - 4+ years of ageing.

90+points

It's hard to believe this is a 2005 vintage. It was simply dull from opening to finish. There was no character, complexity, or finish.

Red and black currant, black cherry, and some berry notes, with some slightly chalky tannins providing structure, this is a highly enjoyable wine of classic proportions. Nice!

Tart, Long finish, mocha, chocolet, cocoa power, red fruit, drying tannins, nice acidity towards the end. Very Alluring. I like this stuff.
Tasted with the wine maker, she is pretty cool lady.
