Rhone Commanderie dinner (Little Park): Maybe the oldest version of this wine that I've had. It's drinking quite nicely. Very round and full bodied. Reminds me a bit of burnt orange in that perfect sweet spot where the sweet is mostly gone but it's not really all that burnt either. Very good.

Orange-yellow, some apple cidery oxidation on the nose, but this dissipated after the wine breathed and more waxy honey came through. Still drinking surprisingly well with almost no sign of oxidation.

Dark yellow. Big, complex, a little waxy, not fruity at all. I thought it was interesting. Laura want sure she liked it. Cork was a little funky and didn't want to come out with the key tool, and I inadvertently pushed it into the bottle. The corkfish got it out easily though.

This is deep, gold in color. Full of minerals, flowers and sweet, ripe fruit, with great body, concentration and an exotic texture, this wine gives a lot of pleasure.

Wines with Steak; 9/19/2008-9/20/2008: Rough in texture, big and broad; dark, almost orange fruit profile packed with flowers and finishing with chalk.

LdC does Mecca - Friday Night (Tampa): Deep copper color. Rich spicy nose . Big rich bold spicy perfumed yellow fruit with good complexity on the palate. Nice, but a bit short of the bottle last June - no surprise to see some bottle variation here... 92+ pts.

Dinenr at Bern's Part Deux. Golden Yellow color with a touch of cloudiness. Nose of white flowers and honey. In the mouth it coated the tongue and was almost chewy. Loads of fresh acidity unlike any other white Rhone I've tasted. Lots of minerals, a nice touch of sweetness and a beautiful finish.

Not a virgin anymore - My first dinner at Bern's (Bern's Steakhouse, Tampa, FL): Dinner at Berns. Clean and fresh nose with subtle aromas of minerals, candle wax, and light white floral notes. On the palate, fat and soft, and rich with big white stony character. A dense flavor packed wine with clear breed. Finishes nice and long with almost a black licorice edge. Probably the best white Rhone I have ever had.

Second Night in Mecca (Berns): Full golden color. Lovely rich round orange rind and spice on the nose. Huge rich fat honeyed spicy mineral palate with lanolin on the mid palate and hints of caramel on the finish. This wine was in fantastic shape and still had plenty of life and acidity remaining.

Really interesting. Loads of acid and some oxidation, waxy and with a little tart lemon fruit. Very very concentrated and powerful.

Great Older Wines at the Place to Drink Great Older Wines; 2/8/2008-2/9/2008 (Tampa FL): Dark color. Nicely perfumed with fruit that was on the right side of ripe vs. over-ripe, especially since old over-ripe fruit will often smell rotten. Ripe peach and apricot, good spice overall, but still a bit short.
