Second of six. First impressions were unusual for this maker and for the vintage. Curiously tight with a crisp apple cider top note that thankfully receded quickly.
More than one hour in it has relaxed and I can see where it’s heading. Needs another 3 years at least and then it will be soft and perfumed, closer to Chambolle than Gevrey.

More muscle than the Justice but still a wine of great elegance and poise. There are notes of black earth, Asian spice, blood and dark cherry. It is full, dense and voluminous with outstanding persistence to the finish.

This is a very nice village Burgundy. Ripe berry fruit showing the vintage character, nice savory edge, good midpalate concentration, midweight frame, fine elegant tannins. The problem is that it's $75. That's more an indictment of the modern Burgundy market than this particular wine, but it's hard to justify these prices when the wines are merely quite nice without being exciting.

Extremely pretty and perfumed nose of black cherry, violets and mineral. It has plenty of flesh and depth in the mouth and just below the surface are some Gevrey meaty things going on. It is supple and silky and oh so gluggable at this early juncture yet with depth and seriousness upon which to age for a long time.

IPNC Weekend 2018; 7/26/2018-8/2/2018 (Linfield College, McMinnville, OR): Tasting pour. Oh, this is good, firm but with really good purity to the deeper red fruits, a little firm as you might expect, but this built to age.
