Good showing. Very interesting, complex, dark nose with woodsy and dried spice notes, carrying over to the palate that showed dark cherry with a bitter side, orange peel, tobacco and spice notes. Open for business, especially with an hour of air. One of the few producers in Brunello that I continue to buy because of the pure and traditional winemaking, and this is right in line with the house style.

Good purity of fruit, mostly red, with a bitter note to the finish. Held up well overnight. Very good, especially for the price. True to the house style, with no overt oak. Seems much more coherent than a bottle of '12 Sassetti Pertimali that I brought to Mike and Chelsea's party a few weeks ago. Bottle 1 of 6. Next bottle in three years, where I would expect the palate to soften.

Having had the Rosso dM many times over the last couple of years, I was really looking forward to seeing what the big boy brought to the table. Decanted 1 hr. At first, this came across as very plush and just a tad simple, but airtime really brought this into focus. While the fruit carried its generous display of plush strawberry pleasantries, the traction with air saw the introduction of drizzled balsamic, cool mint leave and some earthy things. And of course, more than sound acidity, and any wood treatment was so far in the back ground I never gave it a thought. This seems to be drinking very well at present, and from reading the various scuttlebutt on the next vintage (2013) that might the vintage to lay down for a longer spell as this seems to be pretty open for business today. Excellent BdM

One year from the last bottle with significant improvement. Smooth and even a little lush, with classic Sangiovese perfume and flavor profile. No flaws, nothing discordant. Opened, drank and then finished over 4 hours and was starting to slip a little at the end. Based on that, I would not decant. First glass was excellent with vivid flavors and assertive acidity but all in balance. It held that way until near the end.

This was decanted for three hours. The aromas are meaty and a little bit stewed blackberry and briar. Very darkly complected, more on the meaty side and less on the fruity side. Maybe some black licorice too. The texture on the palate is quite sexy and pure. Blackberry, briar, some dark floral notes on the palate. Finish shows bloom of acidity, some dark floral notes, dark black licorice, pepper, dark meat char. No doubt about it that the alcohol is pervasive throughout, and most noted on the finish. The wine definitely feels way darker than Caprili usually offers. I don't want this level of alcohol in my Brunello. I do like the flavors, however... but I really don't appreciate the attack of alcohol the second you swallow. Due to that I worry about the agability of this particular vintage, as that alcohol may get out of whack with the fruit. It could improve from here... but it could decline.

FaceTime blind tasting. Nailed this transparent and elegant Brunello. High on alcohol according to specifications but this is a slim and fresh wine with excellent balance. Amazing QPR. Inviting nose with sour and bright red berries, cheery stones, christmas spices, raspberry candy notes, anise, caramel, hints of blueberry and a nice mineral touch. Distinct almost metallic backbone, vibrant acidity, red currant, green and unripe tones, fresh cool mid palate with a warm elegant finish. Pure and clean. 94p

Acidity and tannins feels in the finish almost as wasabi or sichuan pepper hit, intense and electric. Fruit is delicious, pure and succulent. On the second day wine showed more secondary notes; tea leaves, smoke, wet earth, liquorice. Beautifully lingering, slightly mineral aftertaste. Gorgeous and muscular Brunnello.

Classic sangiovese nose. In the mouth, nice solid and even charming flavors but no integration yet and even a bit disjointed. Regardless, it's going to be a very good wine and I don't think the wait is all that long. three to five years. Quite a nice wine. On day two this had developed a sweet tobacco undertone which added some complexity. That bodes well for the future.

Aroma: shoe leather, wood spice, violets. Palate: creamy rich berry and black cherry flavors with some earthy and meaty notes. Vanilla. Lots of body and substantial mouthfeel. Good core acidity and nicely integrated mature tannins. Very good.

Dry and tart initially. Opens up in the glass. Suggest 1 hr decanting

Very pleasant and enjoyable. But had expected it might be more complex and substantial.
