Crimson on the pour. Cherry, sassafras, and forest floor on the nose. Bright Cherry and smoke with a touch of leather on the palate. Lively acidity. Medium + tannins.

The biggest ding against this wine is that it lacks acidity. Pleasant fruitiness and earthiness aren't balanced with palate freshening acidity, and the wine feels slightly off-kilter as a result. Its imminently drinkable, but could be better

Pale ruby with definite clearing at the edges. Nose gives off candied cherry, strawberries, baking spice, earth, and a hint of animal. Very aromatic. Palate confirms nose. Well-structured with fine medium(-) tannins and high acidity. Food friendly. Slightly disappointing lack of complexity and length on the finish.

Medium ruby color turning transparent at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose gives off ripe red fruits amongst smoky herbal and earthy scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky texture and a vibrant acidity that forms the backbone and perfectly balances the ripe dark cherry, cranberry and red licorice core. Secondary flavors of incense and menthol but still lifted by such lively acidy all the way to the long, mineral-filled finish. This is complete, savory and easily enjoyable. Drink now until 2030.

Needs time to open up. When it does, it shows classic velvet palate with hallmark village Gevrey intensity. It gives exactly what you would hope from the label. Sometimes Burgundy wines underperform or overperform compared to their allocation. Not this one. Bang on. And wonderful.

Try Before You Buy Tasting in Vancouver, opened 3 hours earlier. Less exciting nose than the Guyon, but more fruit on the palate without showing anything compelling. Faded an hour later. $69 at the LCB. No takers.

2015 Bouchard Père & Fils Dinner (Herrington Inn, Geneva): Subtle earth notes with cherry and spice, perhaps some red plum and dark pinot fruit too. On the light side of medium-bodied, with nice spice, dark cherry and dark pinot fruit flavors. Good acidity and balance. Elegant. 90+ for me, 91 from Domino who picked up spice and red plum qualities.

Exploratory single btl purchase. Served around 55ish degrees. PnP in Burg glass then slow ox for 90 minutes prior to dinner. Didn't really need much air. Light semi translucent ruby color. Aromas of; earth, berries, spice and tolerable oak. Notable for delivering 2015 balance, purity & depth. Solid Gevrey Chambertin expression of earth, spicy red fruit, minerality and a hint of forest floor. Shows more depth than you would expect for a village red. Excellent energy with no rough edges whatsoever. A great example of village Gevrey that I can drink early while, hopefully, hanging onto a couple for the long haul. Going back for 3 more soon. Still has a little youthful oak treatment to integrate but, not obtrusive. 13.5% Alc

Aroma: lavender flowers, spice, cherries and blueberries. Palate: somewhat creamy-textured savory flavors of wood spice, roasted meat, plums and cherries. Some acidity and tannin are in restraint. Nicely balanced.

Bouchard Père et Fils "Entry Level" 2015 Vintage Tasting (Beaune): Tasting, brief note. Black cherry and plum with licorice, black pepper, earth and sausage hints . Lots going on for its level, this brings complexity to the table coming from 45 distinct plots across Gevrey.
