Fully developed, soft and refined, this elegantly styled charmer offers sweet, kirsch, licorice, flowers and earthy notes, but it could use a little more heft. There is no reason to delay popping a cork on this if you have a bottle in the cellar.

Amazing! Wine is perfect. Fully developed. Fruits, aromas. Tannins fully melted. Wish I had more than two left in the cellar...Might improve for another couple years, but truly at peak now IMHO.

How are the mighty fallen - quite good at first, with jammified wild strawberry flavours but then a taste of kirsch and a hot, syrupy finish which betrays the 14.5% alcohol

Very expressive nose, with raspberry and wild strawberry very apparent, leading into a fresh, winsome mouthful of the same, very well-rounded and unctuous. Not a trace of oak, not over-cooked or overripe, with a lingering finish. Excellent, infinitely better than the 98. Probably good for another five years, well worth finding. The best since the 1990, by a long way.

Made in a fruit-forward, opulent style showing abundant roasted coffee, chocolate and quality French oak. Fortunately the richness is clawed back by a grippy tannic tug on the finish. Should be considered on the Parkerised side of the line but stops at being offensively so. Drinking well now and has the structure and stuffing to hit maturity in 5-7 years.

Dark colour with brown rim. Definitely tertiary nose with tobacco and wet autumn leaves, mingling with cassis fruit and a hint of menthol. Elegant taste, slightly sweet, smooth, agreeable tannins. A slightly hot finish, medium length. At peak now, will hold a while.

Nose is exquisite. Cedar, tobacco and plums. Masses of delicious dark fruits. Truffles. A lovely garnet core with light fade at the rim. Lovely long finish with sweet fruits. Complex and delicious.

Very tobacco leafy, vegetal and ripe plum nose. Warm, baked plummy fruit and christmas cake finish. A little out of kilter which I thought was too much warmth. Began to open up to reveal more fleshy, plummy fruit with more time in the glass.

Drinking very well right now. Decanted for less than 20 minutes and served with fettuccini beef ragu. Paired beautifully!

Terroir of St Emilion (Roberson Wine, South Ken, London): Dark red in colour. Nice nose, dark fruit notes, menthol light oak. Still very powerful and sharp on the palate, musty. A bit harsh with lots of acidity. 87/88

Très moderne, de bonne tenue, avec une maturité de fruit évidente. Pas mon style de Bordeaux préféré mais très bien fait et plaisant.

A flight of bord 01s and others: Oaky, dry smoke and asparagus. Inkish, infused sweet berries with some spice. Quite rounded smooth dense fruits.
