Nice balance, good mature fruit, zesty acidity, and fine tannins make this a pleasure to drink. I got dried fruit leather, stewed cherry, and cigar wrapper all integrated into a dellicious juice. Deeper ruby color than typical Oregon pinot of this age.
Drank reasonably well out of the bottle, but improved connsderably over three hours. This wine is aging gracefully and should be going strong for at least the next 3-4 years.

from 750. PNP. cork crumbly but wet only 1/4th way up. color cola. nose has rhubarb cola and 5 spice and hints of cherry. swishing shows mostly acid structure remaining, but there are some tannins that bring up the rear and make this terse on the stemmy finish. swishing gives slippery tea and tannin and totally obscures the acid. this is totally secondary, and more advanced (as expected) than the magnum we tried a year ago. if you have this I would find a fresh steelhead filet and some mushrooms (like we did tonight) and drink up. flirting with deterioration and it is not going to improve. I just found this bottle in the market, and if you are so lucky take it home and drink near term.

A footy geeks Sunday Evening (UrbanBelly, Chicago IL): Nose: There was a slight hint of VA on the nose at first, but it blew off with dark red cherries, some earth notes, spice tones, purple florals, and dark red fruits emerge. With air, the nose really rounds into form and balances out much more.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium acidity and refined tannins. Once it received some air, this really rounded into form with dark red cherries, earth notes, plums, spice tones, and some incense comes out on the back end.
Overall: This was a pop and pour. It certainly benefited from air as it did blossom and really rounded into form.

Post IPNC blind 2004 Oregon Pinot Noir tasting (Matello): Smells wonderful, dark cherry fruit, spice, potpourri, dried roses and stems. Very balanced wine on in the mouth with a dark character. Dark cherry, grape, fig. The tannins on the finish are sweet and rounded. Overall a very delicious wine.

Not feeling the love here. This wine is made in a full-throttle style that's not especially to my liking, but beyond that, it's challenging to discern what this $50 bottle has going for it that can't be easily gotten for half that price. It's big, fairly alcoholic, blackberry-dominated, California-styled pinot with pleasant enough flavors but no nuance or interest. Should be paired with hearty fare - the wild mushroom pasta we had was completely dominated by the wine. At the end of the day (the second day, actually, after the wine had settled down a bit more), a fairly simple, rather disappointing bottle - albeit a hefty one that weighs over 3 pounds empty.

Thought I would see where are '04 Cristoms were at the other night. Opened about 2 hours before dinner. When I first opened it and tasted it and even in the first glass 2 hours later this was pretty much what one would expect from a young Cristom; red, tangy fruit, stemmy but enjoyable aspects to the aromatics along with a little green tea, iodine and high-toned spice. The second glass with dinner was like we had opened a different bottle of wine. Huge, blackberry oriented fruit, cocoa powder, fresh ground espresso and some seared beef dominated the wine and it was especially extracted, masculine and very rich. In no way not enjoyable but so wildly different and not an especially good match with the game hens. The last glass showed the wine settling in very nicely. It was almost a mid-point between the first impression and the second. The red fruit came back out, the largesse of the second showing settled into a more elegant framework, the stem notes came back in a very lovely integrated manner and the richness stretched out giving the wine nice length and appeal. Clearly, this is a youngster right now. It has the concentration of the vintage to work through still. I think this is probably always going to be a more substantial bottling than one might expect from the Louise so you might want to gear up your food pairing choice a notch from what you might normally think of doing. This would be a killer wine at a tasting as it would really have broad appeal if you had it open long enough. Very good stuff and will definitely benefit from another 5 years of laying down.

Garnet color with a whiff of balsam and cedar on the nose. Decanted 90 minutes. Black cherries dominate with a highlight of tart cherries, blueberries and some cedar with a bit of earth. Good balance with some tannin that will last another few years. Long finish.

2004 Oregon Pinot retrospective (Lou Rad's): Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has a bit of dill. Lots of cherries and a bit of candied cherries. On the palate, this turn more to cough syrup. Some alcohol (more than heat) on the finish. Somewhat disappointing but probably more a factor of the vintage.

Garnet color with nice legs. A nose of potpourri, black cherries, tanned leather and radishes. Black cherry, cranberry and creamy vanilla blueberry with a strong earth & forest floor mid palate with a nice well balanced finish. The tannins are very silky but this will last a while in the cellar and only bring out more complexity.

Tasted June 16, 2007 at the winery. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of potpourri, cranberry and black cherries. Just a touch of dustiness on the finish. Flavors of red berries, red cherries and raspberries. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Hold for a year and taste again at that time. 14.0% alcohol.

Very nice pinot with floral nose and nice cherry on the palate. Tannin will require a bit of bottle age to better integrate but this pinot is good now and will be even better in a few years. I will be getting more of this.
