Opened at Zarzo in Eindhoven. P&P but enjoyed over many hours.
No extensive notes taken for this wine - it was good, but unfortunately got a bit swamped in an epic line-up.
On the nose this is still somewhat reductive; on the palate it is very structured even though you can tell the quality lurking below. Stems and oaks are quite integrated but it's just tight. Needs more time - would revisit in 5+ years to see how it's doing.

Decanted five hours prior to dinner. Light, translucent purple. Kaleidoscope of aromas in the bouquet, it simply exploded out of the glass. Violets, abundant spice, tart red fruit as well as darker fruits and berries. The oak was noticeable but well-integrated and added to the spices that flowed through and around all of the other aromas. Medium-bodied, the wine is so overtly spicy yet lifted and elegant that you could have thought this came from Vosne. The wine carries its weight well, with medium+ tannins that are noticeable but integrated and balanced by high acidity. Crushed rose petals on the palate mixed with crunchy cranberries and pomegranates dusted with all that spice, all of which are delivered in layers. Swallowing leaves a long, savory finish dominated by the florals and spice. Not close to ready, but delicious now and showing its depth and potential.

Nuanced floral explosion, stunning aromatics. Debate on whether palate was "refreshing", which depends on definition. Certainly easy to drink with balance, acidity and sweetness but in my mind too serious and contemplative given depth, intensity and complexity on offer.

Drunk at a restaurant; this was excellent; I was concerned it may be closed, but the nose was singing from the first pop; very floral and ripe fruit leaning more towards the red side of the spectrum, a bit of spice and a whiff of stemmy pepper hint, no real noticeable oak; lovely balance on the palate, this seemed to slowly put on weight and improve throughout 3 hours of drinking; as expected definitely not in its primetime yet and will improve for easily a decade probably more; a great example of CSD.

Has a beautiful brightness of fruit, could fool me in to thinking it a hypothetical Chambolle grand cru, such is the beauty, understated power reserves, brightness and seductiveness. It may have some new oak to resolve, but the framing doesn’t bother me at all, in fact it adds a certain tension that I appreciate immensely. Tasted together with the 16’ Malconsorts, I preferred the CSD for its regal, delicious, and effortless perfection in what it was. Kind of a surprise, as the Malconsorts flexed it’s power and resonance on the back palate, and that’s usually what I look for most.

A little closed after 3 years in the bottle, the wine still boasts powerful cranberry and pomegranate notes wrapped and suppressed by whole cluster stems. The tannins are fine and persistent, but not overly aggressive, and this wine could be enjoyed right now for its primary fruit. Give it 10-12 years to soften up.

Deep, dark, rich and penetrating. Complex with earthy undertones. Great flesh and mouthfeel. Builds through the palate, really fanning out on the finish. Superb.

“2016: The vintage of Morey St. Denis”: 2018 Tasting at Domaine Dujac: About 70% oak on the Grand Crus in 2016. Compared with the Malconsorts, spicier, earthier and more robustly dark fruited on bouquet. To drink, a wonderful, very complete wine. All of the elements – serious structure and fruit weight, power, acidity and suave tannins – needed for long-term cellaring. Notes of black fruit, soil, spices and minerals. Lovely mouthfeel and presence. Real gravitas. A brilliant Clos St. Denis!

On the pop and pour the wine has a soaring nose of spice, Rose, and bright red pitted fruit. Rather intoxicating and forward. The palate had that same streak of spice intertwined with a long pure hit of acid that gave it an incredibly fresh long finish to match the juicy red fruit. Huge amounts of concentration lurk on the wine. Just screams the beauty and cut of the vintage

HDH Dec auction trip/dinners at SKY and RPM Italian; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018: Painfully young, but impressive to explore right now. There's remarkable freshness and power to the red fruit here, intense stemmy, floral, and oaky accents around the fruit, but right now I find it more impressive than genuinely enjoyable.

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): Served double blind. Very ripe and rich with modern style and very impressive concentration. Lots of spice and long finish. Didn’t seem as classically Dujac while cluster, but still spicy and charming. Cellar at least a decade to really show its 92-94 point potential.

HDH December auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Obviously Burgundy. Beautiful red fruit -- juicy and ripe. Quite reduced, so I went to Tremblay at first. Incredibly pure and clean fruit, with lots of crystalline clarity. Clearly grand cru depth and intensity here. You can insert all the usual comments about this being too young, but this is stunning now, and the potential is obviously clear.

Gorgeous nose of blue fruits, dried flowers, mineral and musk. Perfumed fruits envelop the mouth and it has so much mineral detail. Balance is exquisite. A truly great CSD.

From a cask sample at the domaine. Powerful. Stern and spicy. Woody but because it came from cask, not like its overdone. Long and supple upfront fruit. Long and powerful. Rich fruit. Long. Repeating myself because the wine deserves it. Equal in length and complexity Alec notes and more softer and delicate than Clos de La Roche. Apparently he and his brother sometimes flip the tasting around because of how these wines present themselves.

Tasting at Domaine Dujac (Morey St Denis): Barrel tasting at domaine. Bright and intense perfume that is very floral. The palate shows suave with lots of richness and intensity, but there is a ton of finesse in this CSD. 92-94 points.

Shiny, ruby hue. Exuberant floral aromatics. Palate is balanced, nice sweetness. Integration is satiny. What length too. There's delineation, details.
