  • Opened at Zarzo in Eindhoven. P&P but enjoyed over many hours.

No extensive notes taken for this wine - it was good, but unfortunately got a bit swamped in an epic line-up.

On the nose this is still somewhat reductive; on the palate it is very structured even though you can tell the quality lurking below. Stems and oaks are quite integrated but it's just tight. Needs more time - would revisit in 5+ years to see how it's doing.

  • Candied, plastic, violet, floral aromatics. Sweet, balanced, precise, elegant palate.

  • Shiny, ruby hue. Exuberant floral aromatics. Palate is balanced, nice sweetness. Integration is satiny. What length too. There's delineation, details.

  • Decanted five hours prior to dinner. Light, translucent purple. Kaleidoscope of aromas in the bouquet, it simply exploded out of the glass. Violets, abundant spice, tart red fruit as well as darker fruits and berries. The oak was noticeable but well-integrated and added to the spices that flowed through and around all of the other aromas.
Medium-bodied, the wine is so overtly spicy yet lifted and elegant that you could have thought this came from Vosne. The wine carries its weight well, with medium+ tannins that are noticeable but integrated and balanced by high acidity. Crushed rose petals on the palate mixed with crunchy cranberries and pomegranates dusted with all that spice, all of which are delivered in layers. Swallowing leaves a long, savory finish dominated by the florals and spice. Not close to ready, but delicious now and showing its depth and potential.

  • Nuanced floral explosion, stunning aromatics. Debate on whether palate was "refreshing", which depends on definition. Certainly easy to drink with balance, acidity and sweetness but in my mind too serious and contemplative given depth, intensity and complexity on offer.
