Enjoyed it better than my previous bottle. vegetative and stoney minerality. Lacks excitement but kind of solid performer - not sure will buy again. Used Riedel-Riesling glass, felt more focus and intensity than the Bordeaux glass, I usually do these with.

Grapefruit, lemon curd, gooseberries, wet stones. I was expecting more serious body and punch, have a feel this bottle is on the downside. A bit simple compared to similarly priced Pessac-Léognan whites I had lately. Will open my other bottle sooner.

Further to my Note of Apr. 9, '21: Becoming leaner, a bit more golden--more like SB, Semillon less present. With that said, it held well, even over 24 hours. Perhaps more of a seafood wine over the next few months.

Needs 60 mins+ aeration to develop. Has aromas of clove hints, stone fruits+ veggies with minerally touches. Its medium bodied solid and taut lightly oaked freshly fruited grassy stone fruits palate has excellent chewy depth and ends longish and fresh. 13.5%. Decent value at around 16 Euros. Lay down for a couple of years. Definitely a food wine par excellence!
Med dark yellow/gold. On the nose: peach, green apple, minerality, little bit of oak and floral notes. On the pallet: peachy, green apple, alcoholic (?). Oak gives a nice sweet note (old Sauternes oak barrels are used). Tried this wine in two go's. Left the bottle in the fridge for 24h. Acidity was med and unpleasant the first time but was gone the most of the unpleasant feeling was gone the next day. Med body. Was okay but the unpleasant acidity was a no go for me. 87/100.

This dry white wine from the Sauternes producer, Chateau Guiraud, is intensely scented with immediate aromas of grapefruit, fresh cut grass, papaya, gardenia and wet stone. The palate is quite lively and fresh with a silky texture and a long, fruitful finish.

Further to my Note of July 8, 2019: Paired with a meal of lobster and mac--a good match. Evening dining al fresco so difficult to detect color--seemed light gold. More fragrant than I remember with hint of oak; round tree fruits, hints of pear and white peach, very good mouthfeel. Evolved nicely over the last year and delicious. Certainly notable+.

Color on this was very pale yellow gold with an ever so slight greenish tinges and medium to fast legs. On the nose pineapple/apricot/honeysuckle/grapefruit/honeydew melon. On the palate lemon creme, orange meringue, honeysuckle, honey dew melon. The finish had lemon creme, orange meringue, honeysuckle and a tiny bit of blood orange on the back palate. After a few minutes open, this wine drinks really well, good balance.

On the nose this is very light, a somewhat aromatic scent with characteristic cat pee smell, still very light. Much more on the palate, taste is aromatic and lemony acidic, refreshing! Unsure whether or not to drink the last bottles now or save for later.

This is a terrific wine and a great value. What I really like is both the SB and semillon come through. Honeydew melon, grapefruit and fresh cut grass are followed by a surprising richness and lightly oily texture. The finish has good length. A nice wine that should age well for 5-7 years. Impressive for the price. (90)

Bordeaux Wine School - Pairing with Peranakan Cuisine (National Kitchen by Violet Oon): Very pale lemon colour, even somewhat greenish. White flower aromas and limestone. On its own rather zingy and briny, with green leaves, peach flacours, and grass. Some mouthwatering acids, while fresh and simple. Fades pretty quickly though but still with a lemony core. Some candied sweetness comes out when paired with sweet prawns and meats

Bought 12b from WL for 13/b last winter after enjoying the '15 very much. Pale gold; subdued white tree fruit nose, some subtle oak; starts light but evolves in the mouth with excellent fruit, subtle oak; some persistence. Delicious. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Dinner at Mezzaluna (Princeton, NJ): Drinking perfectly, with an initial nose of lanolin followed flowers and honeysuckle. On the palette I got notes of flowers, honeysuckle, orange, lime and a touch of thyme on the end. Very good acidity. Great wine to start with, as we ordered food. French wine at an Italian restaurant? Oh well.
50% sauvignon blanc and 50% semilion from the Sauternes region of France. (Most Sauternes are sweet wines but this is a fine, dry wine).
Drink now or hold. Great summer wine.

This was a big hit at the sushi restaurant. Lovely fruit flavors -- honeysuckle, orange, some herbs, decent acidity. Great with our sushi -- especially the white tuna, with which it was just ethereal -- and with the more traditional soft-shell crab rolls. It was also very good with the yellowtail (becoming deeper and more herbal), and even stood up to the spicy tuna.

Coravin taste from a new case just received; no food. Initial nose of waxy lanolin that blew off to reveal beautiful fruit - orange blossom and honeysuckle, and perhaps a touch of grapefruit- with some thyme on the finish. Less acidic and mineral than some prior vintages, but younger too.
I liked this wine a lot. My spouse a little less so, calling it “too floral”. Maybe better with a little bottle age? And/or with French onion soup.

Château Guiraud, Le G de Guiraud, Bordeaux Blanc, 2017: A highly anticipated wine that didn’t disappoint! Bright gold in color. On the nose, a bursting bouquet of fresh orange blossom, honeysuckle, citron, and eucalyptus. Medium-bodied, with great intensity and tension. The mouth is slightly more restrained than the nose, showing lime, orange blossom water, abundant minerals, river stones, flint, honeydew, pear, orange zest, eucalyptus with medium-plus acidity as well as notes of grapefruit pith on the long and vibrant finish. Pure joy. 13.5% Abv. Drink now-2022, possibly longer. 92+
