  • Better than the very candied 2016 Las Iruelas that I opened a couple of months ago but still similar in style. Natural, earthy nose with lots of spice, more than a passing resemblance to a fruit-bomb Bojo. Still not fully convinced by this producer.

  • Day 1 if pinot was no fun. More austere than elegant, more admirable than enjoyable, and the stemmiest mofo I ever hope to endure. Wonder if this test is doctrinaire, either in technique or a need to epater le Parkereoisie? I hope this authenticity blows off tomorrow, but for now, F this hippy

3/5 stems defer to a bit of licorice, and I respect the technique to get a wine that tastes higher than its listed 14.5 to simultaneously feel relatively weightless, but the drop off from the elegance and specificity of pinot to the vagueness of grenache is simply insurmountable to me. Oh, the humanité!

3/6,7 Indistinctly elegant. @$18, might get again and be more patient with it. Chiseled grenache; silk purse, sow's ear? Idk...

  • Supper at Franks (Frank's place in Matraville): Savoury, a little wood glue, nail varnish remover, biscuit, gamey and funky over red berries, crushed rock, a little menthol and alcohol warmth on the nose. Plentiful chalky tannins, alcohol warmth, sweet red fruit struggles beneath plenty of minerality and spice. Hmm, it's a bit bolshy and out of whack for me.

  • Pale garnet colour. Vibrant nose of raspberry, bramble, kirsch. The fruit is ripe, but with a certain herbaceousness / stalky aspect. Lively palate, firm, grippy, stemmy tannins, raspberry, cherry. Long and textured. Nothing amazingly complex, but just such a lively, drinkable glass of wine. Four years old, and it seems near its peak.

  • The 2016 Las Uvas de la Ira is a great wine.
Nicely balanced, it can still ripen for a few more years, but can only get better.
    Color: deep pink
    Nose: Strawberry - Leather - earthy - cherry - anise - licorice - spices.
Taste: wow deep and long beautifully balanced, light tannins, elegant and refined. Very Burgundian in style and character.

  • Very light in color, but packing a lot of depth and complexity. I feel like it is a bit on the young side right now and would benefit from a couple years in bottle. I was very curious and popped this one, despite knowing it would be too young. A lot going on with this and would interested in trying more with a bit of age.

  • starts off with aromas of blackberry, dried cranberry, mould and tobacco leaves. Touch of fresh, acidic cherries on the tip of the tongue, followed by soft and round blackberries, cranberry, sweet liquorice and anise towards the long finish. Smooth tannins. Great balance between young, fresh fruit and rusticity.

  • Wow - really impressive. I’ll admit I only bought a few bottles of this because my Comando G allocation got cut down this year due to greater interest in Daniel Landi’s other cult wine, but very glad I did as this is really N exceptional wine. At the village level, probably even better than the corresponding Comando G Las Rosas - there is a real body to this wine, not overly assertive but a structure that stand up to the drinker (exceptional balance). Fruit already tastes mature and rounded, there is an earthy minerality that lends a real sense of depth, and a lovely perfumed nose with some floral hints - this wine really seems to do it all in a well rounded package. My first impression is that Dani Landi’s own labelled wines are not getting enough attention vis-a-vis his more high profile side project, Comando G. Really great wine, I shall try to get more of these before my allocation gets cut when the rest of the world discover this too!

  • Moestue’s book launch of «The New Vignerons» (Grand Cafe, Oslo): (Vines over 80 years old, 800 meters altitude)
    Nose: Initially a bit muted.
    Taste: Great fruit, stone minerality.
