Drank single blind alongside the 04, 06, and 11. This was obliviously easy to guess based on the colour. The acid and coche profile is still lively and unmistakable. The favorite of the night by a good margin. It’s true what they say about producer.

My first Coche-Dury, the regular Meursault but an aged one at least, a special wine for me, firstly I expected not so much, secondly I expected more. It is a classy Burgundy with a lot of roasted almonds and nuts, but still a refreshing acidity. It shows some aging signs I would say at his peak, great company for food. Getting better with time and air. Missing a little bit more complexity in the finish. Anyway nicely balanced

Lost my formal notes, so this is from memory: Was looking forward to this but the nose was really not there - I detected something worrisome, but it was Matt who called that it was so slightly corked. Indeed, it was. Not enough to really smell like it, but just a trace and that was enough to kill the nose completely. The palate was much better, with lemon drops and saline and brown spices, and the finish was quite good. Hard to kill Coche.

Tart, coiled citrus fruit offset with some butter and cream. Has good weight and intensity to it, almost too much power for me on this night. Good, light to moderate resonance on the finish. This should easily drink well over the next 5+ years.

Evolved nose of hazelnut, grilled bread, brioche, yellow apple, smoke, very soft with a hint of mineral... in the mouth, yellow apple, citrus, very good balance, very very very long aftertaste

So 98 wasn't that great ha? not according to this Meursault from Coche-Dury. One of the most concentrated white wines I have ever had. Not kidding, but you could add water and come up with two bottles. WOW. Full massive body, incredibly smooth. Less floral than the 96, yet more muscular in the mouth. Big long and very tasty finish. Very Meursault and loaded with that remarkable Coche-Dury style I have grown to love. Wish I had more. Went very well with Salmon. Drink up.. its ready for business! btw, Joe's TN below describes the wine perfectly.

Yellow colour with a hint of golden core. Strong scents of burnt bark, roasted walnuts, honey, and herbs. A quite intense nose. In the mouth the wine is robust and powerful (especially for a village), but at the same time full of finesse. The wine doesn't bowl over in the dimension-department, but rather in its immediately attractive forward fruit. It manages to somehow be very intense without being all that complex. There's no hint of over-oaking and the structure of the wine is relatively big, however not huge. I was surprised by the ripeness of the fruit given the limitations of the vintage. The finish is balanced and satisfying and lasts about 20 secs. It's drinking well now, and can probably be kept for five years without problems, however I would not hold on to this for much more than that.

Chicago Burgundy Geek Dinner (Boka - Chicago IL): Ripe apple with good concentration, lemon peel hints, pronounced toasted nuttiness and very good balance and persistence. Moderate length.

A taste of Coche-Dury (Angler, City of London): Fat, sweet and rich on the nose, the palate fresher than the nose leads one to expect - not bad for a 98

Parte chiuso e legnosetto, con note di vino già maturo. Dopo escono un po' di spezie, e di miele di castagno. Buono ma mi aspettavo di più
