In a delightful place right now and a great upside surprise compared to previous bottles. Pnp'd and drunk over two-three hours. Mature Bordeaux nose of old books and bandaids with baked fruit and lightly roasted coffee beans.

Finally has that good old Bordeaux smell: specifically, old wet wool and used coffee grounds with stewed black cherry compote. Color purple with brown edges. Acidity and tannins decent. It's very drinkable--not over the hill but heading there.

Bought a 6b case of magnums from Binny's for 30/mag 12 years ago; this is #4. Decanted with normal sediment for its age and format. Dark purple; blackcurrant nose, hint of leather, following onto the palate; good mouthfeel. Tasty with some years of life ahead, unlikely to improve. Glad I have more as a good everyday Bdx, esp. for a dinner group. One of four reds (three cab-based) shared over dinner with a small group of wine friends: this had third place among those with more experience. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Past peak. Black fruit, tobacco, lots of cocoa, lower than desired acidity, soft tannins with a somewhat chalky texture--made me want to run it through a paper coffee filter.

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.
Decent, but not all that great entry level Bordeaux. Perhaps it was past its prime, although my experience with Bordeaux suggests otherwise, particularly out of a magnum. Opened it about 1 hour before drinking and drank over a few hours (second day of Christmas dinner). Tannins subsided over time. My major reservation was the lack of fruit or any depth. I don't want to sound all negative (84 is not a bad score). I guess I was hoping for more.

Strong cassis on opening which gradually gets mixed with cigarbox and leather notes. Mature and well balanced between fruit, acidity and tannins. Lot of tobacco and leather on the palate. Nice finish as well. Might not get much better than now. A real positive suprise!

Leather, barnyard and dark fruits on the nose boded well for an evolved Bordeaux blend which has sadly seen its best days. On the palate it is short and light with an inky texture. Past its prime...

On opening notes of smoke, tobacco and some cassis. Medium bodied style. Opens up after about an hour but the aromas fade after 3-4 hours. Nice soft tannins which mixes good fruit and earthyness. Pretty dry but I quite liked it. Bon rapport qualite prix. Good decent wine probably nearing its peak.

The wine is at a very nice age to drink, not a thrilling wine but well balanced and pretty enjoynable. Has hints of cassis both on aroma and palate. Perhaps some light hints of cedar. Nice dark red color.

Nice midweight Graves that's in a very nice place right now- cassis and black plums, a distinct tobacco note, a little cedar. Fresh acids, light ripe tannins in the background, nice, and holds well overnight. B+

Too young, too young, too young! This developed in the bottle for a couple of hours, becoming something quite decent but tightly coiled. That cedar box and blackcurrant combination was prevalent. It was a sterner, stiffer wine than I was expecting, going better with food than on its own. There were some bitter tannins on this, with a greenish edge. In time I'd guess they will be fine but quite demanding now. Far more interesting in 3-4 years.

Light but not fragile or short, a clean red and black currant nose with a little cedar. Palate is more cassis, with a lead pencil note and some earth on the finish. Not thrilling or attention-grabbing, but a solid and classical Graves. . B/B+

nice classically styled Graves. Red plum and currant fruit, a bit of woodsmoke, some graphite and cedar. Not a huge wine, more a middleweight, but enough tannins to stand up to the rare meat. There's good acidity helping give it a fresh note, and good length for a wine that normally retails in the $20-25 range Very happy to have this in the cellar, though I think it's probably not one to make old bones, I plan on enjoying over next 10 years. B+

Little buggers got away from me. Not brown but not much fruit or persistence, should have drunk them up five years ago.
