Excellent barbera. Deep and dark but nicely balanced by sweet purple/dark fruit. Good acidity/freshness. Nice length. Low tannin. I agree with Caroline titlon’s note below.

I loved this wine. It takes a bit to open up. We served it with oxtail ragú. Wow. What a treat. We opened it about 2hrs before dinner. But I had a glass immediately and sipped throughout. It really develops and with the complexity of the ragu it goes hand in hand.

This is a really lovely barbera. Fresh on the nose with some nice lifted herbal and liquorice notes alongside deep rich black cherry. Round and supple on the palate with unusually fine tannins and delicious stone fruit flavours, finishing with a lick of acidity. Remarkably elegant for a barbera with no sense of excess alcohol or heaviness.

A solid nondescript red wine with higher than normal acid. If I was in a restaurant I would order it by the glass but an entire bottle is not that exciting.

Dark garnet colour. Nose is dominated by blackberries and dark fruit, along with a hint of oak. This is a dry medium bodied wine that is refreshingly acidic with soft low/medium tannins. Has flavours of tart blackberries and sour cherry, that lingers for quite a while. I really enjoyed the acidity and length, but it wasn’t very complex and lacked some depth. At about £25 it’s fairly priced but there are better value wines out there.

Opened 2 hours ahead, but not decanted. Fruity, quite elegant and delicious. Medium + acidity and medium - tannins. It delivers ripe cherries, blackberries, some spices, lavender and a less pronounced floral note. A good aftertaste and a really good balance, but it’s expected to be even better if cellared for some time. I recommend to save it for a couple of years, even though it drinks okay at this point. A great experience and a big 91, with the potential for a higher rating in the future.

By the glass. Reserved on the nose with sweet and spicy notes. Also memories of green plums and wild flowers. In short, traditional. More powerful in the mouth, with structure and acidity along with an excellent persistence. I think an additional four years resting would do it greater.
P: Med, poss MF, body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a bit of astringent pucker which pretty much holds into & through at least the beginning of the LONG, ULT pleasant finish with a tangy/swtness to the unoffensive, dusty tannins. DESERVES 12-18 mos, then drinking for 3-4 yrs more. 14% ABV; My EXC-/EXC. [This vendor's $29.95 is very competitive.]

Dark reddish garnet in color, bordering on opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe red fruit aromas of blueberries, cherries & mulberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, some spice notes, dried herbs & minerals. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, blueberries & plums, earthy, spices & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but has potential for further development with several additional years of aging.

Really didn't like this - too much acidic bite, a little vomit-esque, not nice at all.

Dan, THANK you for allowing me the opportunity to retaste this LOVELY wine! :)
From a small tasting glass that had been open ≈ 3 1/2 hrs.
