Edges are beginning to brick but still deeply coloured. This is classic Aussie Shiraz - but a very good one: generous damson, blackberry, loganberry - fruit still prevalent and not drying out. tertiary leather and barbecue meat notes beginning to evolve. This is a delicious wine with a good backbone of acidity and tannin to endure for several more year. Long and quite complex.

Lots of deposit in the bottle, so decanting very advised. 14% alcohol.
Quite translucent cherry red color with a rather developed maroon hue. The nose is very powerful and noticeably blackcurrant-driven with quite tertiary aromas of raisins, some soft-cooked bell peppers, a little bit of petrol, light stewed strawberries, a hint of plum jam and a lifted touch of balsamic VA. The wine is full-bodied, dense and very ripe on the palate with dry and intense flavors of meaty umami, peppery spice, some brambly blackberries, a little bit of sweet boysenberries, light pruney tones, a hint of savory woody spice and a touch of mocha oak. Overall the wine feels impressively focused and vibrant, although the developed nose didn't promise much. The structure relies more on the moderately high acidity than on the ripe, mellow and almost fully resolved tannins that contribute mainly to the texture. The finish is spicy and savory with lengthy flavors of meaty umami, some peppery spice, a little bit of fresh, ripe blackberry, light woody tones, a hint of sweet mocha oak and a touch of leather.
A powerful and surprisingly firm Aussie Shiraz with nice sense of development. A classic example of well-aged new world red; the wine still shows some oak influence, but most of the wood tones are so well-integrated that they really don't distract. The nose feels quite sweet-toned, but on the palate the wine is enjoyably dry and savory. No need to age the wine further, it is in a great spot right now. Stylish stuff. Tremendous value at 30€.

After aging for over 15 years, this bottle was fully mature. The structure was still big and bold but it's in a soft and smooth style. No alcohol feel. Good acidity. Taste of sour plum, blackberry and chocolate. Strong and powerful black fruits. All elements integrated very well. It's at peak. Drink within 2 years.

Cool blue fruits, green olives and bacon. hints of coffee and dark chocolate. A bit port-like, but still very balanced with a fresh finish. tannins fully integrated. great example of the big/balanced aussie style without the oak muddying it up. L loved it.

First bottle was oxidised as evidenced by the high shoulder level and somewhat shrunken cork. 2nd bottle was fine - Lots of black fruit, balanced and drinking well now.

Very good wine. Big, complex, playful, strong yet balanced. Once we open up the smell of the berries rushed out of e bottle. Tempting to take the first sip before even throwing the cork. The first pour and sip was full of complexities. Big black cherry. Smoke. The alcohol hiding behind all of the other smells. On the palate was a mouthful of berries, with woody smoky complexities. Very strong finishing. With sweetness to follow. After half an hour to an hour of decanting it changes and changes with fruit hiding and coming back sweeter and more balanced. Very nice wine.

Regular dinner group (@ PZ): Soft chocolate and ripe black currant juice. A lot of sweetness. Well integrated oak. A very tempting wine. Beautiful drinking now, but no hurry.

Near opaque core; berried fruit incl. black cherries, flashy oak, coffeed, fragrant; initially clean & sleek, concentrated, later a touch porty & gamey. Substantial without being overblown. Drinking well now, this has years left. A rivetting wine. Score 18.

Drank this on a ski trip with my father and brother. Among a number of good Australian Shirazes this was the best. Powerful almost brooding, but with a good enough balance not to be sour or overwhelming. Great depth of fruit. I'm sure it would have opened up even more with time, but we didn't give it a chance.

California Wine Weekend; 12/1/2023-12/3/2023 (Mos Eisley Cantina & Waterhouse Restaurant): A nice minty eucalyptus expression of syrah here. Blackberry, raspberry, bramble, sweet herbs, mint and meaty charcuteries. This is a great wine that has not yet fully integrated its american oak. A stunning expression of syrah.
