Warm, sunny, and likeable, befitting the vintage. After having had several closed '15 BdMs earlier this year, I had vowed to forget about my bottles for a few years, but a friend opened this tonight and I was happy to find it approachable and delicious right from PnP. Black fruit, leather, and spice box, with a long, tannic finish. Great typicity, with just enough populism to appeal to a good number of people. For my tastes, a few more years could work wonders, but it's absolutely drinkable today.

I typically wouldn’t open a Brunello before at least 10 years from vintage, but since I own a lot of 15s I decided to check in on this one. But alas it was too young and had not at this stage shaken off some earthy austerity. Nevertheless, it has good structure and should be in a good place in a couple more years.

Standard cork. Nice ruby with very slight orange reflections. On the nose upon opening, generous aromas of red fruit (sour cherries), plum skins, blood oranges, touch of rubber, slightly empyreumatic. On the palate, the attack is frank, tannic, astringent with the fruit found on the nose carried by a good acidity. A good length, concentration and balance. This is about three years too young to my taste and I can imagine anybody drinking this younger and not giving it lots of air might have been disappointed. Minimally give it an hour or two of air if opening now. Give this more time and it should shine. 91 today with upward potential with some age. Next bottle in 2024-2025.

One from Tuscany, I do have to admit that this one is not for me,
very full bodied, with red cassis and lots of sweet cherry fruit, the tannin very sweet, somehow firm structure, lacking balance still, for me to much weight of sweet Sangiovese fruit, overripe, lots of oak treatment, will this ever be a balanced wine? And as an accompaniment to food?
Overdone in my view, or maybe changed my preferences completely?
Fidèle à ses origines, très typique de l'appellation. Un peu d'amertume et des tanins rustiques limitent de noter plus haut. Sinon, très bon. Un potentiel de s'améliorer sur quelques années.

Light brownish red color. Good aroma. Nicely fruity but not very powerful. Went well with food including cheeses. Very good, just, but slightly disappointing. My Goleta friend and I each gave it 92+ points. The next day the wine had gained in complexity after more aeration and my friend and I each gave it 93 points.

Something between Garnet and Pale Ruby. Coming from the bottle, it was still very fruit forward dominated by lots of red fruit and pretty astringent. However, after decanting for 3 hours it showed complexity. Still lots of red cherries but also a bit of black fruit, black cherries. Wonderful long oaky notes of vanilla showing a decent finish. Was a nice experience :)

Still young- drinks much better after 3-5 hours in decanter. Nose ofRed fruit, same on the pallet with a few hints of savory flavors. I think this will be beautiful when its had 7 to 10 years to develop some tertiary flavors as well

Colour: clear ruby colouring, no real bricking evident at this point.
Nose: on the nose a lot of red fruit really dominated, mostly raspberry and red cherry. Upon a bit of probing some vanilla and anise came through but honestly pretty one dimensional.
Palate: more of the same (and consistent with previous TN), red fruit and acidity. Just couldn’t really get past the racy acidity on this one and despite having a decent decant to mitigate it just didn’t seem to come together. Disjointed and simple and lacking any finesse, this one firmly left me wanting.
Have one more of this so might just try and forget about it to see where it goes but presently it is exhibiting a real imbalance and I can’t say I’m optimistic it will stand the test of time.

PnP. Mild nose, red berries, vege leaves, high acidity, smooth texture, tastes more like a clean palate Chianti with furry tannins. Savoury finish with a little spices and vanilla. A simple but delicious BdM.
2nd day, more fragrant, red fruits, red floral notes and some dry herbals, tannins turns softer and smoother. Good potentials in cellar. Added 1 score for the 2nd day performance.

I agree with the note from 8-2-2021 by hanibal, i.e. acidic with little fruit. Also, at $70, it costs $30 more than a noticeably richer and gentler bottle of panaretta torre a destra chianti. so hopefully i will not buy again. In fact I recall having been disapointed by this wine before. Probably someone knowledgable told me that it was a good label. Maybe for some, but apparently not my style. I prefer Barbi and Casanova di Neri. I have now read at least 5 glowing professional reviews of it, by Parker, Suckling, etc,..., but the deep rich wine they describe has little or no resemblance to what I tasted. And my wife agreed with me. Also significantly overpriced at Total Wine compared to widely advertised examples at $50.
Ok now it is a day later, and it is still astringent and alcoholic in the extreme. Admittedly now there is a delicious taste hidden under all that, but hardly drinkable anyway. I have a headache a minute or two after one sip.
3 days later it is a little milder but still not remotely enjoyable.
same thing on the 5th day. the problem is the hot alcohol. this would probably go well to flavor a stew.
Nose: Dried raisins. Sour cherries. Raspberries. Red fruits. Medium to high aroma intensity.
Palate: Umami. Sour cherries. Raspberries. Very earthy. Slight leather. Cinnamon. Very high tannins. Medium to high acidity. Medium body. Medium flavour intensity.
Finish: Long finish. Dried raisins.

Nice complex nose with plum, blackberry fruit, toast and vanilla. On the palette this had good acidity, mineral notes and chalky tannins. Long finish. Still too young to drink though - probably let it sit in the cellar for two-three years before trying again. Two days earlier I had a 2015 Argiano BDM which was way smoother.

Good, not special for 2015. Light purple color, medium nose. Dry fruity first Brunello taste, dark cherries, currants, strong dry finish with slight peppers and long linger. Missing the first burst complexity and a bit too dry, but great value.

Mid ruby-garnet with medium plus to high optical density and medium plus specular reflectivity. Strong intensity of aromas with cherry, tar, some light roses, and spicy earth. Some forest floor and crushed leaves fills in around some lifted aromatic compounds and flowers. Really interesting on the nose, with depth and development.
On the palate, a rich medium plus density wound around a medium body with firm but ripe tannins provides a texture that is rounded and rich up front and just cleans up on the back end. Fresh medium acidity and a very dry framework make this easy to drink, but still so much power here.
Flavours of tart cherry, tobacco, and mixed berries with dirt on the attack, with an entry that is powerfully intense and has a decent bit of depth (not overly so, but nice). The midpalate shows more rich fruits, but more like cherry and plum. This is well-supported by an array of spices and tasteful oak notes (very nice and balanced approach to oak usage on this). The final transition sees the spices kick in (savoury herbal notes with some zesty black pepper) on top of a wave of warm fruit, dirt, and crushed dried tobacco. Things settle on a very very long finish with warm berries and smoky herbal spices that linger and linger. Really excellent intensity and complexity throughout.
This is a great wine. Delicious, so much BdM in a classic sense, and just a pure joy to sip. The intensity is almost surprising, coming in so huge, but yet there is depth and interest well beyond the high level of flavour here. Develops across the palate with interesting nuances coming in (like some candied fruit and anise spice that weaves around), and also develops further in the glass. Very huge and polished, while still retaining an elegance- an almost arrogant one in some ways perhaps (like the kind shown by a respected Monarch). The summary of elegant power is here, and this will get even better over time I suspect. Just so enjoyable right now too! And awesome value!

We drink a lot of this brunello as the QPR is decent. 2015 was a great year and although I have left some of this in my cellar to age (I figure it should be great in 10 years), I have also had more than a few bottles of this already. Even though it is still young, I do enjoy it. Red fruit, leather, earthy, medium to high tannins. I generally decant for a minimum of 3 hours at this age. We love it and so do our guests. Can't really go wrong with it (unless you are one of those that only likes their brunellos aged 10-15 years minimum or only prefer the "bigness" of new world wines). I continue to buy this and will be sad when our liquor commission runs out of 2015s (hopefully future vintages are as good and as approachable at this young age).

In seven to 10 years, this will go from outstanding to outstanding plus. As it stands now, the red cherry and earth tones are just barely holding their own against the high acidity and desert like tannins. Still, balance is not bad, flavour intensity is high and the finish is lingering. I would expect the complexity with improve with the additional aging.

Medium garnet in colour. Pronounced nose intensity with developing notes of vanilla, fig, earth, savoury, cooked red plum, dried cranberry, fig, prune, plum, stew fruits, cedar, toast, charred wood. Dry, high acidity, tannin and alcohol. Full-bodied, pronounced flavour intensity and long finish.

The wine was medium purple at the core and Med garnet at the rim. It was clear, opaque and had no sediment . The viscosity was high and had 14.5 % alcohol. On the nose there were aromas of dill, blackberry, roasted tomatoes and blackberries. On the palate I experienced high acidity, tannins and alcohol. I tasted basil, salinity and cherries. The acidity was much too high to accurately discern many flavours or body however I think given a few more years it has the potential to be great. This wine needs to age in the bottle for at least another 2 years.

I think this wine still needs some more time. Found it to be very tight at first. After about 3 hours in a decanter, this started to open up with some really nice floral notes. Revisit in a couple years.

This is a really nice Brunello, one of the better '15s I've tried. Very floral nose marked by violets, sandalwood and red cherries. Velvety and smooth, with caressing tannins and bright raspberry and red currant flavors. Hard to put the glass down. Drinking very well right now, but seems to have the stuffing to age.
Acidic at first with developing flavors after an hour of decanting. Still very young but yet pleasant to drink after the tannins began to lay down. Mouthfeel was pleasantly moderate, aroma represented berry fruits that were present in the flavor. Flavor started acidic, with berries, a hint of chocolate, finishing with a bit of tobacco and leather. Looking forward to trying another after some time.

Knew it was way too young. Tried it anyway. Confirmation. If you like highly acidic oakiness, then this is ready to go. The underbelly is all there though. Aromas of wild cherries, vanilla and allspice. Palate is cherry (and oak). Will definitely show better in 5 years, but I doubt any earlier.

Pours medium out of the bottle, has an incredibly floral nose, then opens up on the palate in equally complex and layered flavors, followed by a smooth lingering finish. Next lonely offered bottle, fair price tag: 30€ per bottle, like to know how all estates are doing and developing, even if they are not really on my cellaring list, shows a very fine ripe fruit fragrance, sweet cherry, black fruit, maybe hints of cuban tobacco and sweet organic chocolate, but the nose is tasty fruit foreward, silky right from the start, velvety flow over the midpalate, really well balanced between only slightly supporting acid, high ABV (14,5%), and ripe, nearly silky tannin, this young it is delicious juicy after only one hour slow ox, right, a very well made crowd pleaser if you describe it negatively, but it really delivers, and......, you find all components of a great vintage and a high class tuscany red, not sure if this will mature long, but hey...., if a bottle is that delicious right after pouring no complaints from me! And honestly I am not the italian wine nerd whisperer, **(*-****), around 89-92(+) as you prefer this style or dislike "modern" made tuscany reds!
Update 24 hours later: ONLY more elegant flow, no, really no indication of flabby notes or so, would testify: great bottle, great bottling hopefully and great vintage! recommended!

This is from a very good vineyard; as I recall they got a WS award a few years back. Anyway, 2015 is considered one of the decade's best, maybe even over a longer time frame. We popped a bottle at a vertical tasting and this one definitely builds with time in decant. Fully body, round with really nice fruit and good length. We kind of cheated, because this one seems like another 2-3 years would make it even better. We got our bottles at $60 which is respectable and I figure the value will rise as 2015 is broadly quite good.

One from Tuscany, I do have to admit that this one is not for me,
very full bodied, with red cassis and lots of sweet cherry fruit, the tannin very sweet, somehow firm structure, lacking balance still, for me to much weight of sweet Sangiovese fruit, overripe, lots of oak treatment,
will this ever be a balanced wine?
And as an accompaniment to food?
Overdone in my view,
or maybe changed my preferences completely?

375 ml bottle.
Nose: Dried raisins. Prunes. Chocolate. Herbs.
Palate: Chocolate. Tomato leaf. Prunes. Dried fruits. Mint. High acidity. High tannins. Medium body. Medium intensity. Medium plus finish.
Lacks freshness. I suspect this bottle may have premature aging.

Opened and given a 6 hour decant.

Note: Don't open until at least 2023.
Appearance: Pale garnet rim. Medium raspberry core. Semi-opaque. No visible sediment. Numerous and slow-moving legs (14.5% alcohol).
Nose: Chocolate. Anise. Blackberry and red currant, but fruit notes are muter than anticipated. Dill, or something earthy/herbaceous in that realm.
Palate: Very high acid. Med-high tannins. High alcohol. Basil/anise. Special guest appearance by sour cherry and tiny hints of chocolate bitterness.

Next lonely offered bottle, fair price tag: 30€ per bottle, like to know how all estates are doing and developing, even if they are not really on my cellaring list,
shows a very fine ripe fruit fragrance, sweet cherry, black fruit, maybe hints of cuban tobacco and sweet organic chocolate, but the nose is tasty fruit foreward,
silky right from the start, velvety flow over the midpalate, really well balanced between only slightly supporting acid, high ABV (14,5%), and ripe, nearly silky tannin, this young it is delicious juicy after only one hour slow ox, right, a very well made crowd pleaser if you describe it negatively, but it really delivers, and......, you find all components of a great vintage and a high class tuscany red, not sure if this will mature long, but hey...., if a bottle is that delicious right after pouring no complaints from me!
