Extremely concentrated on the palate, showing dark cherry, licorice, black olive, violet, and gravel. Tannins are beginning to round off nicely, though still with plenty of grip—this could probably go another 5-10 years or more.
Lovely showing — ready to please but will improve. Dark soil, the same sweet basil aroma I got (along with JLL) from Cayron Gigondas, and fresh button mushrooms, with serious umami allusions alongside a fresh, drying vanilla bean aroma. I’m guessing the vanilla is part of ripe 2017, but because there’s a great grip and acidity here it’s a pleasure.

Pure Spirits 1st grand tasting (George Lycabetus Hotel): Destemmed, no pigeage, 30% slope, 13% The wine shows purity, density, earthy, black fruit, currant, black cherry, black olive, a touch gamey. Palate shows density, blackcurrant, black cherries, tight tannins, spicy, nice acidity, peppery, medium body, medium finish. beautiful

Floral with an herbal funk, with scents of asphalt and char. Blue fruits, red plums and winter citrus on the palate. There’s a richness but certainly not heavy. Nice acidity, opened to pair with beef stew but dinner plans went sideways, still found the wine enjoyable on its own. Breaks down a bit in day two so I question the proposed drinking window, I think these are best near term.

Like the 60 this was great from the start. Smooth edges and deep flavor profile (though it could use some years to fatten up). Cool dark fruit, black pepper, smoke, lavender, game, and mineral. An easy buy at sub $40.

Only problem is the price in Canada. At the winery price in France it's a no-brainer case buy every year. At these North American prices it's very hard to compete at the special "treat" level of around ~$70.
Anyway, worth trying.

N: Medium (+) intensity. Aromas of ripe blackberries, black pepper, slight graphite/crushed rock aromas, slight gamey/meaty smell, but still dominated by primary fruit. P: medium (+) grainy tannins which are actually quite soft, medium acidity and alcohol. Flavours as nose, slight metallic/iron tinge. Nicely balanced and quite easy-drinking. No evident new oak, but some texture possibly old oak. Medium finish. Good wine, quite easy-going for the appellation, very typical N Rhone, definitely to drink now, not sure it's worth waiting for this to get better.

Opened and left for an hour or two. First aroma on pouring was strongly like popcorn! (a caramel type note.). It’s dark and woody underneath that. Velvety texture with a strong acidic grip. A little bitter on the end, although after a few hours this softens a good deal.

Surprisingly open. Fine acidity, rather mild tannins. Mild pepper notes mixed with typical purple fruits and some floral notes. Rather simple finish is only quibble.

Really digging this. Some wild bramble, smoke and roasted meat on a nose of blackberry and violet. Excellent! The palate is juicy and fresh with excellent acidity, clean, almost savage fruit. THIS is the style of Syrah that curls my toes. Still a little wound up and tight, especially on a clipped finished, but this is simply delicious.
Aromatic- spring violets, tar, pomegranate. Fairly refined and put-together. Floral and youthful. A hint of white pepper on the finish, which I think will grow with time.

The 2017 Granit 30 is opaque medium to deep purple in color. I decanted this for four hours, which allowed the nose to blossom and showcase aromas of blackberry, black plum, overripe blueberry, bacon fat, violet, wet rocky/clay earth, charred herbs, rubber, and gravel. Once in the mouth, the wine displays notes of dusty blackberry, black cherry, cassis, anise, sweet tobacco, mild smoke, granite, black pepper, chocolate, and iron. There is even a funky note of root beer flavored Bottle Cap candy! This is medium-bodied with medium acidity, medium tannins, and a long finish.
100% Syrah; 13% ABV

100% Syrah. 13% alcohol. Most of the grapes are destemmed before pressing. Fermented temp.controlledv at approx. 30 C, maceration time: 2-3 weeks.
Rich and quite as powerful aromas with the familiar Cornas style of blackberry, concentrated plum, match and with wonderful pepper aromas. Good bodied wine and usually a little tight mouthfeel with great fruit rich fruit of blackberries, youthful plum, match and with a nice graphite nerve at a good finish. Firm, but with good tannin structure. As usual, this wine needs two, three years in the cellar, but with intense decanter movements and air it can work as early as this year's Easter. To light game. Very good wine. 90 points.

This bottle was fully open showing brawny black fruits, hints of blood, and a lick of spice. Nicely composed, it balances the paysanne and polished quite nicely. There was a real juiciness on the finish here. I enjoy the bottle variation of these wines.

Tasted at ÉPURE, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong 2017 Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 30 showed typicity of youthful Rhône Syrah. It was clear and ruby in colour without any sediments. The nose showed violets, black pepper and game. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, elegantly balanced with medium level of tannin and acidity. There were spices and dark fruit flavours in the medium finish. It was elegantly textured and polished compared to typical rustic and tannic stereotype of Cornas. (90)

Properly decanted this time and wow does it change with air. Brambly dark fruits with a bit of farmyard stink blows off and reveals full on blood drenched fresh butchers shop. Incredibly meaty, with lashings of pepper and iron. Rather medium on the palate, it's wild and ferrous, but also shows precision and depth. Really captivating.

Not decanted, opened to enjoy it “sur le fruit”. An affordable and approachable Cornas, pretty and pure, really typifying young Syrah on granite, with youthful aromas of lavender and violets, black cherries and peaches, white pepper; medium bodied palate, gentle tannins buffered by delicately fleshy fruit, fresh and juicy style, tight but relaxed; good resonance and length. Clearly made to be enjoyed in the first decade of its life. It will an be interesting wine to follow.

This is gonna be a creeper. It's going to show in 10. It has green notes with tannins that will smooth out with age. A black fruit core that is hard to degust right now. It's very tight but cola still pokes through. Not the best 30, but a keeper for cellar show works future.
7 hours later it really opened up to beef blood, primal black berry, cola, spices and excellent rounding where this is headed to a 3 year opener at 55degrees.

A week in the Northern Rhone; 12/7/2018-12/15/2018 (Lyon, Vienne, Ampuis, Chavanay, Hermitage, Cornas, St. Joseph, Condrieu & Paris): Tasted at the Domaine. The 30 in the name refers to the degree of the slope of the hill where this is grown. 100% Syrah. Aged 3 mos in vat then 9 mos - 1 yr in barrel (2-8 yrs old). Wine can age for up to 15 years. Tastes of blackberries, black raspberries and black currants, with cracked peppercorns, spice cabinet but the tannins here are surprisingly smooth for such a young wine. (smoother than the St. Joseph we tried directly before)
