Deep inky ruby color, full bodied and medium concentration. Nose of blue fruit, leather, light oak and tobacco. Palate brings on subtle notes of charcoal, plum, violets, cooked blueberry. Medium+ acid, medium+ tannin with well developed fruit and suggesting several years ahead. Nicely balanced though some of the tannin still needs to soften. Really nice and enjoyable mildly complex Petite Syrah.

The wine is deep purple in color with a pronounced nose of vanilla, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, rose, geranium and lavender. There's also bell pepper, cloves and a hint of meat (think butcher shop). The wine is dry with medium acidity, a high alcohol content and still tannic. It's full-bodied with pronounced flavors of blackberry, black currant, vanilla, cloves, cinnamon and the floral flavors while just showing some of the dried/cooked fruit flavors and mushroom notes from bottle development. The finish was long and pleasant. A nice wine to enjoy now but it will continue to develop for several years.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (R&S's): Double blind. Deep opaque color. Aroams of blackberry, vanilla bean, plum and chocolate. Full-bodied. Black fruit, oak and vanilla palate. Firm tannin. Guessed petit sirah. (J&L)

Drank this at Tunglok Signatures (Clarke Quay) with my wine mates. Theme of the dinner: Wines that start with N.
Beautiful purple in the glass with wild violets, wild mushrooms and wet forest floor on the nose. On the palate the berries, licorice, cigar box, leather are present.
A very delightful and wine with positive vibes. Will benefit from a few more years of cellaring.

A lot more tertiary flavors this time around. 10 months since I last had this. Nose: blueberry, bakimg spice, mushrooms, forest floor, eucalyptus. Palate: leather, tobacco, blackberries, blueberries, licorice, some bitterness, sandy tannins. Full body, good balance, very easy to drink. Not sure if I would age much longer.

Blind tasted first. purple in color; soft and feminine mouthfeel, nose: Bordeaux funk, contemplative, cherry, Merlot dominant (my guess: new world fruit forward, possibly Californian, young, do not like much) (Chako guess: RB Bordeaux 2018, very very good). Needs aeration. 91-92 pts
Upon finishing the bottle: this is a decent wine but for us it lacked a bit of freshness. The second time we drank it, it was alongside a 2015 Troplong Mondot that just had so much more: more minerality, more vibrancy, more purity and oddly even more fruit (more concentrated fruit, and far less flabby.) Granted, that St Emilion costs 2.5x the Stag’s Leap, but it did remind us of why we tend to strongly prefer BX over Californians.

Given to me as a gift. It has big fruit and too much alcohol for my wheelhouse, but with a leg of lamb was a fine pairing. The structure played well to keep it from being over the top.

Typical dark color with a nice floral nose and tasting dry with blackberries and lots of vanilla from the oak. Tannins handled well with smooth dry finish. A medium bodied wine with pepper spicing. Opened more for me on the second day. Very Nice!

P/P; dark and smooth with full mid palate and good fruit density; mixed dark wild berry; a bit of cola to start; some slightly rustic tannins on the finish; solid as always and an easy match with a cheesy mushroom pizza

It list for $43 we paid $30 most people would pay 35. Good fruit taste. Bold, lots going on, dry near the end and a puckery feeling at the end as well. Good fruit taste

The 2016 Petite Sirah is made up of 79% Petite Sirah, 8% mixed Rhône varieties, 7% Grenache and 6% Syrah, aged for 12 months in 25% new American oak.
PnP. Bold, a little jammy, high tannins, medium finish. Though completely enjoying this now, will take the advice of others and decant next time, as I can sense what this will become a very tasty wine.
👍
Edit - it does become more smooth after a couple of hours.

Tasted blind. Very dark in the glass. Has strong, striking, drying tannins which die down after two hours open. Dark/red fruits and unsweetened chocolate. Feels a bit hot at 14.5%. Will benefit after years in the cellar.

Nice aromatics. Blackberries, chocolate, tar, licorice, and spices. Stout PS backbone is very pronounced, but it is balanced by spicy, peppery, and juicy notes of black fruit that are deep, complex, and utterly delicious. This will endure for years to come.

Very very dark magenta in the glass. Initially almost tasteless on the nose and bitter/ginger like on the palate. After a few hours opens up beautifully to hidden sweet red fruit, licorice and far away spices. Very smooth, strong and dark. Taste lingers in your mind long after bottle is empty.

Good stuff. Medium body. Light tannins. Smooth. Cinnamon flavors, other classic PS flavor (big, strong). Worked well with cheese - not so well with tomato based pasta. Probably good with a steak but I didn’t get to try that combo.

Dark color. Full-bodied and dry upon opening, with toasted oak and savory spice. Opens into some dark fruit flavors. Smooth, leathery tannin. Well balanced — nothing sticks out, not overly jammy or oaky, finishes clean. Best after about 90 minutes open; I’d guess this will peak in 2020-21.

Dark, impenetrable purple, that coats the wall of the glass like paint. The nose starts out closed, but eventually unfolds to reveal wild mulberry, licorice and middle eastern spices (sumac and caraway). Flavors are deep and concentrated, showcasing blackberry, black cherry and spiced plum compote. The tannins peak early and never lose strength; its thick and voluptuous texture clings to the mouth long after the flavors are gone. An electric energy runs through the long finish that's impossible to ignore. Intellectually the wine seems over-the-top but it is very appealing sensorially. Before you can decide if you like the bottle or not, it’s already empty.
