From 75cl, good cork, P+P. Good to check in again with Trimbach's Reserve. Light-bodied, bone-dry, the oak treatment makes identifying this a lot easier: it's distinctively French, more reminiscent of the Loire (where they don't grow Riesling) than of any German region. Starting to drink well, but no hurry. 88-89P

WSET 3 - session 5 (Utrecht): [Blind tasted] Shows a bit of development with lovely petrol, furthermore green apple, honey, candle wax and on the palate more lime and grapefruit. Not (yet?) as complex as I would have hoped. High acidity, medium finish. Guessed a Mosel riesling

Light yellow color. Aromas of green apples, lime and minerals. Ripe, full-bodied high acid fruit in the mouth with very good depth and length. Intense and mouth-watering on the palate. Bone-dry. Better balanced the second day.

Very dry, pure, rather textbook Alsatian riesling, with apple, lemoon and a hint of petrol. Very good, and useful at the table, but not that exciting. In general, I'm gravitating more toward Austrian riesling these days, so maybe I'm biased ...

This is your basic dry riesling from Alsace, meant in the best possible way. Citrus on the nose, lemon, lemon peel, petrol, white flowers, orchard fruits, stone fruits as it warms. A little yeasty, a little reductive. Mouth-watering, focused, medium+ acidity. Paired very well with Romanian cuisine.

This wine is pale straw in hue. Its aromas include apple, pear, and lemon. Lemon dominates the palate. It is bone dry with high acidity and is very crisp and refreshing. Very good!

Classique. Pétrole, citron, acidité tranchante et huileux. Va demander de longues années car il est présentement en besoin de rondeur et d'intégration.

Very good, chique nose. Taste: with yellow and white fruit. Remarkably mineral, at this moment rather dominated by acidity. Might be to young to drink now. Keep it for about two or three years. Potentially 88-89+.

For an almost entry level Trimbach this is excellent. Very pale golden colour. Nose of grape skins (citrus skins?), white fruit, and minerals. Pear on palate. Delicate jasmine notes hover in background. Brilliant balance between distinctive acidity and flinty minerality with a satisfying body. Extremely long, lightly viscous finish. An absolutely lovely Riesling that paired perfectly with pan fried trout.

Small sample at a public tasting. Bottle opened 2 hours prior.
pale yellow color, a brighter and livelier notes than the regular Riesling, earth and flower notes- but also orange tones, on the palate bright and vibrant, sweet citrus notes, hints of honey, great depth and a good firm structure leading into a long dry finish.

Tasting at Maison Trimbach (Ribeauvillé, France): Medium yellow. Classic orange peel aromas. Medium weight, much more intense lemony acidity and minerality than the regular 2018 Riesling. Some herbal elements. A big step up for the minimal price difference. Needs a few years to show best.

The VV bottling from the same vintage is materially better, with more energy and acidity.

Terrific energy, with tremendous acidity. Dry, with no residual sugar. Paired sushi exceptionally well.

Color: pale straw
Scent: lemon drop, straw, floral, citrus rind, slight cheesiness, honeysuckle, jasmine, a little flint, slight orange marmalade
Taste: hits really acidic, mouth watering, then tastes sweet, honey, green apple, Myers lemon 🍋
Not usually a Riesling fan but I like this!
