Serious Burgundy night: Quite a heady nose, ripe and sweet both on the nose and palate. Some development so I guessed 2012 St Aubin. Haven’t had much experience with Pataille’s whites but this was clean and refreshing.

I had an '18 Marsannay Clemengots from the same producer at a restaurant under a year ago and loved it. Naturally when I saw this on sale at a wine shop, I took a flyer and bought one. I should've read the notes for a few different vintages first..
Straight after opening, the nose is dominated by a funky salinity that reminds me of Jura along with some overripe fruit. The palate has crazy high acid and a medium body. Definitely not very approachable on its own. Maybe it's too old, or maybe it's just not my thing. I'll leave the remaining 4/5ths in the fridge to drink with dinner tomorrow in case I get an epiphany when drinking it with food.
Update: The funk has certainly calmed down with oxygen. It's definitely still present, but now it's more of an approachable natural wine that I enjoyed with some food. Not my cup of tea but I think it's well-done for the style.

Very good wine. A touch of volatile acidity on the nose and palate. Can smell the long time in barrel on the lees, but I didn't feel that it really lived up to the price tag. I think it will always have that intense acidity and slightly "natural" smell to it. Not a bad thing with food, but on its own it could be better.

Finished in two days. Elegant floral aroma on the first days with some air but tight and lean on palate. Fruity profiles become much more prominent on the second day with fine mineral backbone and lingering acidity. Lovely but need 2-3 years at least to reveal the true potential.

PnP and enjoyed over five hours. Excellent aroma, weight, fruits profile and acidity as a Bourgogne Blanc. Wonderful quality with years ahead.
