I bought this directly from the winery and loved it almost too much not to save. Stored at 56 degrees. But it is even better now, crisp, elegant and balanced. No strong fruit but subtle hints of currant, licorice, rhubarb, berry and cherry. Impressive polish now. Saving my last bottle for next year.

slight bricking around the edges Nose has lots of secondary notes of cinnamon, spice, sweet tobacco
palate is slightly sweet, showing the alc, nice secondary flavors with the sweet tobacco, leather and a decent finish. This feels like its on the downhill side. Still nice though.

Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs; 6/25/2013-6/26/2013: The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), Espresso, and Violet. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Satin-like texture. The wine finishes Long. Bob R's Red. I have the Chaleur's Red and White, but not the D2. I love their wines, and they are representative of the quality and value East of The Cascades!

Brought last-minute to our wine group dinner at Two Chefs when one member had a family emergency and had to drop out. Mostly merlot, with a third cab dollops of cab franc and petit verdot. Rich nose of dark pitted fruit. Very concentrated on the palate. Nice balance between acidity and tannins. This was my only bottle but if I saw it again at a good price, I'd get more

A big, rich blend that had many nuances. It went great with the bone in ribeyes but you could enjoy it on its own. I am really looking forward to my last bottle as it is drinking great now with a short decant.

I feel like I'm catching this in the middle of its evolution. At this point, it seems pretty hot at this point - it has a heavy booze component, and yet it shows typical Bordeaux development in many ways. The flavor profile is changing from a fruit forward WA blend to a more nuanced blend flavor. But, right now, that's masked by the high booze content.

This one didn't seem to be aging quite as gracefully as the 2002s (of which we drank the last in November 2012). It seemed very slightly denser and flatter, or at least seemed to have a little less going on. It was only decanted around 90mins before tasting, but it didn't seem to gain much in nuance over the evening. Nonetheless, a deliciously deep, long and evenly dense, dark jam.

This is aging beautifully. Definitely new world style with red fruit front and center. But it's well structured, not jammy, and has a nose of rose and wood.

Drinking well right now, the D2 seems to hold a consistent style over the years. Nose of blackberry, oak, some chocolate. Needed some air time, about 2 hours, before the nose opened up. The remainder drank well the next day.

A huge, raisiny, balsamic-infused wine. This is either going downhill very quickly, or I am just forgetting what this vintage was like for this wine. Not at all similar to the typically balanced, fresh wines from DeLille, including the D2 (usually).
Having said all that, it's not terrible. Just really really dense and jammy.

very disappointing effort: big, alcoholic, not balanced. Tannic and overall, rather coarse, with big fruit attempting to obscure aggressive elements. Also fails to communicate a sense of place. Lacks the elegance I associate with DeLille.

A big, juicy wine, with currant, blackberry, and dark cherry fruit on a fairly full bodied frame. Medium acidity keeps it bright, and the tannins are smooth and mostly resolved at this point. The only downside was I got some heat on the finish which kept it from a 92. A lovely wine drinking well right now that I found needs 30-45 min of decanting to be at its best.

Dark ruby to purple color. Nose of blackberry, plum, hint of cassis, smoke. Similar on the palate. Great balance. Tannins much softer than the '08 tasted earlier today. Nice to see how this wine settles down after a few years of cellaring. Thanks to Ron and Derik for sharing.

Popped and poured and then left in the glass for about an hour. Deep, dark ruby color with aromas of toasty oak, vanilla, baked plums, cassis, and cream. Much to the delight of my wife and two friends but not for me. The same flavors showed up on the palate with a medium weight and nice plush mouthfeel. This is a very well-made wine and I can certainly see how someone would love it, but at this point, the oak is just too prominent for me. I had a 2002 D2 some months ago that was delicious, but it was just beginning to absorb and balance out the oak. Nice throat coating finish and went well with the beef being served. Give it some time to mellow. 89pts.

I was tempted to try one and gave in to temptation. Half last night, the other half tonight when I get home. This had a wonderful nose. Chocolate covered espresso coffee beans with cherries on top. I was literally giddy to find a stash of this wine. Popped one tonight and enjoyed over 3.5 hours.
This wine is just so easy on the palate -- less 'angular' than the Chaleur Estate. Cindy describes the flavor as 'chocolate covered huckleberries'. The nose, to me, is a real classic bordeaux (minus the stinky component).
Now that I've got some to keep around, I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with this over the next few years, and we'll post better tasting notes. :)

Nose of gritty blackberries, smoke and spice. The mouthfeel was almost rough with tannins, fruit and tobacco. The 'grit' was unmistakable. Not chewy, just three-dimensional in the mouth. Needs more time in the cellar, unquestionably. Finished well with smokey and meaty notes and a good dose of oak. For last night's experience, I give it an 89, though if I revisit in a few years, the number will undoubtably increase.

No Tasting note recorded. I opened one up out of curiosity, this one will take some time. Although drinkable after an hour, it continued to improve the entire night. I left a glass full on the counter intending to dump it the next day. The following evening, it was drinking great – 24 hours of full exposure to air. I’ve always found D2’s drink their best after two or three years of cellaring.

One of my favorite WA reds vintage after vintage. This is a dense, powerfully extracted Bordeaux style blend. Big black fruits, cherry, currants, cedar, and vanilla make up a core of what will evolve to be a complex wine. Primary characteristics for now, but with the tannin structure and balance, this one will be a beauty in a few years.

DeLille did not pour any D2 at the release event today because they were sold out, so we popped one when we got home to assess the need for additional purchases when it hits the retail stores this week. I always like it when Won says "You need to buy more of this wine!" Winemaker notes of " . . . black rasberries, plums, and deep black cherries" pretty much hits it. Even so, the wine has a rough tannin element and is slightly tight and disjointed today, but will smooth out and move into the 91-93 range over the next 2-3 years.

2007 Passport to Woodinville weekend; 3/31/2007-4/1/2007 (Woodinville, WA): Tasted a barrel sample at Passort event. It was a bit tight right out of the barrel, but there just wasn't time (or enough wine in the tasting) to really get it to open up. It did have very nice plum and cherry flavors with a very nice mouthfeel and finish. There was a huge fire going in the fireplace and the tasting room was getting quite smokey while we were tasting this wine, so I don't know if there were really smokey notes in the wine or not, but the ones we tasted weren't unpleasant, and did work well with the other flavors.
