OK, details first -- 60% pinot noir, 40% chard. 55% 2019 vintage, 45% 2017/2018. Disgorged Jan 2023. Medium copper. Scant coarse mousse. Brioche and pear on the nose. A new batch for me: 50% 2016, 50% 2015/2014; 65/35 PN/C; disgorged December 2019, zero dosage.
I very much enjoyed the previous incarnation based on the 2015 vintage, but for me this isn't quite up there.
On the nose, minerality in spades, plus just the tiniest hint of menthol. The palate is quite austere and direct - again saline and chalky minerality, some citrus bite, a hint of green apple, but really rather lacking in fruit or complexity. The finish is clean, drying and mineral.
Overall I feel that the zero dosage isn't helping here. It's still a decent wine, but not up to the previous batch.

Vendemmia: 50% 2017 / 50% 2016/2015. Sboccatura: febbraio 2021.

Lovely apple character, fresh, with just a tiny little hint of bruised fruit character to it. Very crisp and clean and tight on the palate. Very intense and linear. For my palate needs some time to loosen up a bit.
This producer leans in the natural direction, no sulfur, and then something that I just missed. There is some parcel by parcel fermentation in carbois and then all natural yeast from the vineyard.
Mostly oak, a little bit of stainless steel. 36 months on the lees, 80% oak and 20% steel. Does go through malo. This disgorgement 55% 2019, 25% 2017 and 2018.
Verzy is a very large mineral component with a much smaller fruit compontent on the inside is the producers idea.

Impactful mouthfeel with dense juice, the touch is virile. There is an oxidative side, the woodiness comes out with a nice spicy structure and smoky notes which is strange considering that the aging only contains 25% wood. Simple but very pleasant structure, beautiful acidic framework, coherent and distinguished whole. Salty and chalky finish, which I would have liked to have been longer given the taste of the mouth. However, at €35, we do not regret our purchase.
Very good champagne.

Served alongside the l'Ascendant cuvee. I preferred this cuvee just slightly over that one. 60% 2015 and 40% 2013 and 2014. 1.5 gms of dosage, disgorged October 2018. 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Apple, chalk/mineral, with some distinct reduction in the wine when first opened, which seemed to lighten with time, yet there was still a smokiness in the finish. Green apple, what one could even say is a crushed apple, with spice. Lightly rocky finish. My buddy who brought this to the table said he picked it up for about $45 at BevMo or Total Wine, where it was normally in the high $80s. Perplexed that M-L would end up there, and it seems several locations had it. For the price they have it marked to, that is a strong deal.

60/40 PN/C. 60% from 2015, 40% reserve wine from 2013/14. Disgorged October 2018, dosage 1.5g/l.
Bright straw gold in colour. Fine mousse.
After a little air, the nose offers honey, but also a minerally note.
On the palate, bruised apple, again that just slightly sweet hint of honey, and a finish which is long, starting with candied lemon and ending on a crisp, slightly saline note.
Overall this is an interesting and quite complex wine - a sipper not a chugger, and good with food (some cheese is bringing out various flavour notes for me).
At the ~US$47 that I paid this is OK, albeit not stunning, QPR.

50% 2017 base, 50% reserve from 2016/2015. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. Dosage 2 g/L. Disgorged 2/2021. Popped and poured at the cool Solar Myth bar.
Plush nose, buttered bread and red fruited aromas evoking a breakfast berry pastry. Bright attack with citrus, flower, and pear, leading to a rather creamy finish that is nonetheless pierced by good acid. In comparison to the last bottle I had, tasted at Maison and of a more recent disgorgement, this was more immediately giving. Yet I think I actually just slightly preferred the other bottling, which required more time but revealed more layers of flavor and complexity.

Euro Trip 2022; 7/28/2022-8/3/2022 (Copenhagen, Paris): 50% 2018, 50% blend of 2017/2016. 65% Pinot noir, 35% Chardonnay. Disgorged January 2022. Dosage 2.5 g/L A stellar intro to Maison's wine program. Initially a reticent nose, first a hint of butter emerged. On the palate, clear red apple fruit with searing acid. Every once in a while, a bit of anise emerged on the finish. After a few minutes and some swirling, this wine really blossomed, giving pastry, flower, and pear aromas, and red strawberry and honey crisp apple flavors. Still this wine rippled with acid, leading into a medium length finish.

A private dinner (Restaurant Vanderveen, Amsterdam, NL): Verzy Grand Cru. Biodynamic viticulture, a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, 50% vintage 2017, 50% vintages 2016/2015, spontaneous fermentation, bottled unfined and unfiltered, disgorged October 2020, dosage 2 gr/l, 32,245 botltles produced. More charm and floral finesse than the 2016 base vintage tasted last year, yeasty and spicy, with the same deep minerality but without the austerity and the toughness of the previous vintage.

A masculine Champagne, steely and spicy, dry and yeasty, firm and intense. Not necessarily elegant or charming.

This bottle disgorged Jan2019, 60% vintage 2015 rest 2014/2013. Light yellow with some copper hues. Pretty assertive (blue) cheese smell, match and flint nose. On the nose also some smoke, apple cider vinegar and rubber smell (tire). If allowed to open up softer notes appear, like stone fruit (peach, fig). Aggressive carbonation/acidity on the palate, very tart, vinous, some sweetness from the fruit (again figs). Bitter lime/grapefruit and custard/cheese in the aftertaste. Pretty tough/assertive champagne, above all if it does not open up fully. Given the 1.5 g/l and tartness I wish this wine had a creamier carbonation (for instance as in Maillard platine). Ready to be consumed but maybe a couple of years in the bottle would do good to this wine as in the experience of VULGAR LITTLE MONKEY below. An interesting offering but not characterized by elegance.

DG 03/2018 Despite being the entry-level wine by this producer, we feel that it offers a lot more with several years of bottle age. It’s still a relatively direct and simple wine (which doesn’t mean that it’s boring), but pleasurable to drink in an informal situation. Upon opening, it showed quite a lot of fruit; principally overripe apples, pears, and cranberries, perhaps also some citrus fruits; a very present spiced undertone of cardamom, mixed pepper (black and white), and fresh ginger; mineral with wet stones, a metallic touch, some smoke, and wax; on the finish, some very gentle oxidative notes, but not of the mushroomy kind. With time and aeration, this wine improves a lot and shows some early complexity; it’s never going to be as stimulating as other cuvées by the same producer, but it’s pleasurable to drink to accompany a meal; medium-high acidity, and a juicy texture, also slightly vinous. A very worthwhile ‘apéritif’ cuvée. 88pt

This is from a 2016 disgorgement and those extra years really did wonders. It still has bright shape and some citrus mineral notes driving the finish but the mouthfeel and mousse are so silky and the nose so complex. All of the autolytic notes you'd want in harmony with fruit and flowers. Unfortunately, my last bottle but a real testament to at least a few years of aging even NV wines.
Dinner at Brian and Sylvia's (Duchess): A rather funky, characterful grower’s champagne, but quite nice in its own way. The nose was very aromatic, with little yeasty, oxidative shades dancing around sweeter, almost perfumed notes of cherry, apples and wilting florals. The palate had a very clearly effervescent mousse and a good dose of juicy citrus acidity running though a rich mouthful of ciderish apple flavours. The influence of the lliquer d’expedition came up quite clearly on this. Finish was decent enough - full, creamy, with a nice lick of white fruit. Altogether pretty good and definitely interesting, without quite being mindblowing.

Impressive yeasty bouquet, some hints of vanilla and spices.
At first a bit disjoint with some pleasant fruity elements at first but quickly followed by acidity and bitterness.
Nonetheless it quickly integrates with some air and the dosage seems quite well balanced. Acidity still showing quite intense and funky. Really tense and at times wild champagne and strong bread notes.
Bubbles at times slightly harsh. Very big mouth feel but at the same time light and rather elegant. For me quite suprisingly that this is a mostly pinot dominated cuvee.
Should age well for some more years. Could maybe do well with 1g higher dosage but ok not a big issue. Drinks very easy and pleasant.
Cant wait to open the special club...

This bottle shows a bit shabby around the edges. Like this disgorgement(01/18) is starting to fade. It's showing a bit plainer, grapier than before. Still an ok drink on the low dose side. Like a lighter sparkling wine versus what you think of as Champagne typically.

Consumed from a Zalto white wine glass. 2017 disgorgement 70%pn, 30%ch This has an interesting nose, with some faint reduction, and juniper berry and rye bread. It has a soft, lead-like minerality and crisp acidic delivery with lots of green apple. A youthful and slightly aggressive wine. I’m not getting much in the way of red fruits. Low dosage but it’s there. Fun to try, probably not a re-buy for my cellar

Light straw golden, fine bead. Nose some minerals, stony, hint of wax, golden apple. Palate bright, some stone fruit, stone minerality, some golden honey/nutty flavor, a bit of a bitter taste.
slightly coarse impression on the palate especially, and the faintly nutty/golden apple notes were concerning to me for possible slight oxidation. Not the best showing but could have been either an off bottling or an off night for my palate. 89 pts

Last bottle was 2 years ago, and the specs on the wine back label are much different. This is a great example as to why back label info matters, as well as why I appreciate tasters who take the time to tell me that info from their bottle. It adds some comparative value to the NV space and thinking. As to my bottle yesterday, disgorged 01/2018, with 2 g/l dosage, 70% PN, 30% Chard, with 75% from 2014 vintage, and the remaining 25% a mix of 2012 and 2013. This bottle was built nicely, balanced with some red fruit, some apple, tangy and brushed on the finish with some mineral and a kiss of honeyed sweetness.

Pale straw, about 65% PN the rest Chardonnay, disgorged May 2017. Carefully and thoughtfully constructed. Combines a cheerful, convivial approach of lightness, finesse, a brisk mousse, and low dosage (3 g), with surprising body and persistence. Toasted Brioche, light citrus, red apple. Utterly refreshing. Will buy more at around $37.

Deguelle 2017. Quizás en un año sorprenda.

Off the by the glass list @ Del Posto in NYC. No detailed notes so take this with a grain of salt, but my general impression was the whole champagne was a touch overdone. More intense than I wanted it to be. More of a brioche style. Perhaps with a bit of time it would have calmed down some?

Disgorged 1/2017, blend of 80 % 2013 and 20 % 2012/2011. 65 % PN, 35 % CH, 25 % aged in oak. The revered Pinot Noir of the village shines through on the lively nose that offers delicious cherry fruit, apple, spice and some torrefaction. Strongly effervescent and truly bone dry, quite vinous. The use of oak is perfect as you do not really taste it but you do sense it. Quite rich and sour at the same time, not austere but definitely not a crowd-pleaser either. Markedly mouth-watering, it is hard to resist the temptation of rushing the next sip. This comes off as mighty neat, authentic stuff - definitely something for all the acid heads out there. It should be noted that only after 20min or more in the glass this wine shows its true colors; fridge temp is clearly far from ideal for it and some breathing only beneficial.

Been hanging onto this bottle for about 2 years, decided to enjoy it last night with the Dr Mrs over dinner. Disgorged Oct 2014, 3 g/l dosage and a base of mostly 2011, with 2009 and 2010 in it, too. 60 PN, 40 Chard. This drinks with a big kick of acidity, a vigorous stream of bubbles and yeasty notes. Just a light brushing of green apple and bitter. nutty note. For $35, I enjoyed this bottle and while it is not overly complex, the dosage and acidity are balanced pretty well together.

Dosage 2.5 g/L
A stellar intro to Maison's wine program.

More charm and floral finesse than the 2016 base vintage tasted last year, yeasty and spicy, with the same deep minerality but without the austerity and the toughness of the previous vintage.

Despite being the entry-level wine by this producer, we feel that it offers a lot more with several years of bottle age.

This has an interesting nose, with some faint reduction, and juniper berry and rye bread.
