Decanted 3 hours drank over 2. Lovely balance, complex bouquet with blackberry fruit and an excellent finish with tannins nicely integrated with earth, olive finish. Full bodied but not overdone.

Ten minute decant. Dark purple. Violet nose. Black fruits, dried herbs, earth and black pepper. A bit tight at first with grippy tannins. Full bodied, concentrated, mouth coating. Long finish. Second day, everything came together. Delicious. Should have pulled the cork on this in the morning first day.

Method: slightly blind (knew it was 1 of 3 bottles); decanted for a few hours; Grassl 1855
Look: deep ruby
Nose: blueberry cobbler, spearmint, smoked paprika, violet, fain smoked meat; very expressive and complex nose
Palate: blackberry, blueberry, cedar; long finish of spearmint, wood smoke, leather, and violet; dry; full- body; medium plush and pretty silky tanning; high- acidity; low- heat
Overall thoughts: Nice concentration and body; great tannins. Great complexity and I love the spearmint note. The acidity is a bit too high and the very slight heat doesn't help. I'm interested in seeing where this goes with age, especially of the alcohol doesn't become too obvious. Great wine!

read all the other notes and see the drinking window, but since i bought a case decided to try one..............everyone is right. it was great the first night (no second night as drank it all) but for sure it would have been better if i decanted for a few hours or took the cork out, put it back in an hour later and drank the next night as advised. the point is how good it is not doing that and how much better it could be if i had done that

I like it when a wine lives up to the (considerable) hype, and this very much does that.
All I will add is take the winemaker's advice and open this 24 hours before you want to drink it (pop and then put the cork back in). This is apparently what they do at the winery for tastings and seemed to work pretty well; a long decant likely would also.

1hr decant. Expressive black fruit on the nose and pallet. A bit of black pepper on the finish. Great wine that will likely get even better with some additional cellar time.

excellent, even though the drinking window starts! in 2024, it will be hard to keep my hands off this. Torrin Akasha's are 100% syrah, and are as good as Syrah can be. So well put together, my last glass left me wanting more. Looking forward to visiting the winery in April.

Nomination for best Syrah in Paso. Full bodied and ripe with loads of blue/black fruit, milk chocolate, cassis, espresso, and iodine. Silky and smooth but could use a few years to mellow out.
So very very good. I couldn’t bring myself to open the 2015 just yet so I settled on opening a 2016 and couldn’t of been more pleased. So excited to try the 15. Torrin is hand down my favorite at the moment.

15.8% abv. Dark purple, magenta rim. Viscous, staining of tears. Whiff of heat on nose. Nose a little closed, definitely dark fruits, baking spices, charred meat, but also hints of asphalt? motor oil? Not unpleasant, just interesting. Full in mouth. Supple entry then tannins show after about 10 seconds. Berries, confection, char siu bao, somewhat monolithic profile now but appears to have potential for further development. Finishes sweet and med plus length.

2 hr decant. Big nose of dark, ripe fruit. Tight upon opening, but opened up nicely after a couple of hours. Going to give the rest of my bottles a couple of years to really develop.

SO floral. Crushed me. Find it. Drink it. Those CT drinking window years are way off. Drink now through 2026ish.

Four hours decant and needed every minute of it. Such a classy expression of this varietal.

Paso Robles wines; 9/27/2019-9/28/2019 (Paso Robles): Tasted at winery, OK wine, pure flavors, big wine, intense, no character, sorry JD not 100, would try again, not my style.
