Past its prime. Interesting cinnamon note, but overall not all that pleasant. My bad for waiting so long. Ok for adding to Rao bottled tomato sauce to rinse out the jar and add some wine tone to the sauce.

Purple slightly toward garnet but doesn’t seem too oxidized.
30 min after decant: On the nose: prune, complex gamey herbs. Very rich red fruit, raisins. Fresh mint gèle? Structure, smooth tannins, surprisingly present for the age. Spice. Lingering prune.
First wine I’ve had older than myself and first amarone. Rings a bit too desserty for my taste but a very good wine nonetheless.

Party at Wimborne. Drank in Grassl Cru Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium intensity, with aromas of dried plums, mild raisins, dark herbs, dark forest berries, dark red cherries, oxidative caramel. Developed. On the palate, dry, medium acidity, high alcohol, resolved high tannins, full body. Medium+ intensity, with flavours of integrated chocolate, dried plums, raisins, dark red cherries, herbs, oxidative caramel, some sweet tea leaf. Medium+ finish. Good quality aged Amarone. Can see why this would be popular. Not up my alley though. Time to drink up. Just my perception that many Amarone seem to become oxidative with age.

Mørk rød farge, meget mørk kjerne. Ørlite organge / brunskjær mot kanten. Lukter av mørke modne tørkede kirsebær. Mye og kraftig lukt. Intens smak dominert av mørke bær. Krydret, men men merkbart alderspreg. Lite tanniner. Lang ettersmak.

Jag ska börja med att säga att jag verkligen inte är något fan av Amarone, men detta var med på en blindprovning och var faktiskt ett riktigt bra vin. I doften körsbär, tobak, lite höstskog.

Dark purple, fine sediment suspended. Nose of caramel, caramelized sugar. Prunes on the palate, silky smooth with fruit still present. Licorice on the finish. A full bodied wine, I think this is what a 15+ year old Amarone should taste like.

Purchased in 2001 and cellared since then. Ullage was appropriate for the age. Cork was perfect. Sediment was very fine and although I decanted the wine, that was not a necessity. A fruit aroma exploded out of the bottle at the time of uncorking. After a 2 hour decant - bouquet - dark cherry fruit profile with tobacco and raisins. The flavor had a lighter red fruit profile - perhaps regular cherries. The finish was cool and refreshing .

Brought two bottles to Siroc for Restaurant week. They were in a great spot. No tannins, fruit was still strong. Great with Potato Gnocchi in Wild Boar Ragout. Drink up. No upside to waiting longer to drink.

Deep garnet in color. Intense chocolaty nose together with sweet spices and a herbal lift. In the palate flavors of plums, raisins and black tea. Tannic but nicely so. Mature but with long life ahead of it.

Masi Agricola Vertical Tasting, Oenocomos Wine Fair (Grande Bretagne Hotel): Clear, med to deep tawny, more alive than the 2000. Clean in the nose, with med intensity, evolved character showing coffee beans, chocolate, less black cherry and more prunes and raisins, sweet oak notes over leather and black pepper, developing to developed. Feels almost off dry, med+ body, intensity, high alcohol and med+ acidity, tannins completely dissolved and round, high notes of coffee and bitter chocolate, cinnamon and nutmeg, more oaky and less black fruits, alcohol and acidity winning in the balance battle, grainy and med finish. Very good quality, premium price, drinking now rather than later.

Clear, deep ruby colour. Clean, tart red and black fruit, blackpepper and bitter chocolate. Dry, full bodied, medium acidity and high tannins. Same palate as the nose with an earthy feel. Medium plus length of finish. hard to accompany any food.

This has reached maturity, and is very smooth and balanced. I suppose this how you should really drink amarone, after at leats 10 years!

Oenokosmos Wine Show, Grande Bretagne Hotel, Athens, Greece: Sweeter nose compared to the 2000 and va is less noticeable here, but fruit concentration is not as high. Fully mature.
