This was my first 2017 Quivet cab of any sort, so I wasn’t prepared for just how good it was. The nose was pronounced, full of ripe dark fruit and musky floral notes that I could smell from several feet away. The palate was similarly packed with luscious purple and black fruits, along with a silky blanket of tannins and a brief flourish of toasted spice at the end. I may be under-rating this by a point. I’m still thinking about how good it was, a day later.

Opened, poured and let sit about 35 min. Then: Maybe blue fruit on the nose. First sip is blue-dark fruit, but with acidity upfront and most noticeable. With some time in the glass this takes on weight and the acidity recedes, although it comes back a bit stronger on the finish. Maybe a bit syrupy; tannins noticeable, but not in a bad way, and help maintain structure; softish mouthfeel. Pleasant as a red wine, no particularly cabernet profile, although it would be hard to mistake it for some other varietal.

My last bottle of this wine was late in the year 2021 and for this vintage there were a lot of swings and misses, this wine was and remains a hit. This wine is in a very nice drinking window. Dark purple color with a pleasing bouquet. On the palate, dark berry fruits black and blueberries, some boysenberry, black cherry and currants and some tobacco. A worthy Cabernet with a finish that lingers and that punches well above expectations. 93/ 93+ Points.

Superb wine, one of the best "entry cab's" you'll have from a Mike Smith lineup. Smooth, with plenty of depth. 30 minute decant and then it's ready to go

Earthy nose and french oak finished, slightly tart on the tongue - a well balanced, drinkable Cabernet now or continue to age. Aired for two hours at room temperature - though Winter in New England, so room temp has a slight (nice) chill! We'll enjoy this wine with beef stew tonight!

Dark purplish red. A bit tight on the nose, bitter cocoa, baking spices, pencil shavings, black currants and a bit of volcanic soil. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Great structure and a bit of alcohol. Layered palate of cinnamon, anise, lilac, gravel and black cherries. Long finish. Drink till 2028.

Although 2017 has been challenging for the most winemakers, that was not the case with Becklyn and Quivet Napa valley entry level Cabs. This 2017 Quivet is a winner! Dark ruby/ purple color, dark fruit - blackberry, cassis, dark raspberry, and dark cherry with nice fruit extraction for a wine of it’s class. I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of bottles in the cellar, Yippee! Personally, I like this one better than the 2016 and 2016 was a spectacular vintage. 93+ points.

Really good for a 17, almost as good as the 16's and a really great value. This was best on the 3rd day after opening. I hope all the more expensive Quivet cabs that I own are this good. I have to agree with many posters that Quivet may be better than Myriad.

Have had a ton of Myriad and Quivet wines over the years. This was my first regular Napa Cab. Really nice round tannins with ample fruit. Not overly oaked or sweet. Very enjoyable. Drink over next 5 years. Boom

This was a surprise! A good 3-4 points better than the Myriad NV, IMO. Better structure, better balance, better flavor in general, IMO. I could have drunk this all night which for me as a '17 is really saying something. Ty Jimbo for opening!
Dark purplish red. Dark, rich nose bitter cocoa, black currants, blueberries, some leather, baking spices and gravel. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Great structure and still very young on the palate. Layered flavors of purple flowers, cinnamon, anise, powdered gravel and black cherries. Long finish. Drink till 2028.

Delicious, developing very nicely and slightly better than the last bottle that I enjoyed. Nice ripe extracted berry fruits and aromas. The 2017 Becklyn, Scarlett , Quivet wines that are drinking wonderful and drinking beautifully right now, why wait? 94+ Points today.
Dark purplish ruby red. Rich and dark nose with blackberries, black currants, a touch blue, minerality and baking spices. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Great structure and layered with black cherries, purple flowers, cinnamon, brown sugar, a touch of anise and a little gravel. Long finish. Drink till 2028.

Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants/cassis, dark raspberry, and dark cherry. Really smooth, nice purity, and decent depth/concentration, however, I thought the last bottle a couple months ago showed a little more depth/concentration - medium/medium plus body. Nice vibrant flavors of dark berries, some baking spices/licorice, and a little cocoa. Solid finish but not overly long nor deep. Popped/poured but drank out of a decanter for a couple hours. Improved a little with time but drinking quite well right away despite its youth. As usual, a nice QPR. 100% cab.
30 min decant. Young but I’ve been curious about this one given some of the high reviews and my experiences with other Mike Smith wines. Deep semi translucent purple with a clear rim. Taste and aroma sandalwood, raspberry, blackberries, strawberry leaves and a touch of smoke. Heavier on the red fruit side of the fruit spectrum despite its color. Tangy acidity and lower tannins. A little thin, just barely medium plus body. Overall, nice wine. About 91.
Day 2, noticeably sweeter with dark cherry and a little more viscous mouthfeel. Bodes well for the future. Maybe 92.

The 2017 vintage has proven extremely solid for Mike Smith portfolio of wine of Napa Valley Cabernets, the Quivet label is no exception. As previously expressed, Dark garnet purple color, currants, blackberry, dark berry fruit with good extraction for its class/ category. Very nice and more full bodied, solid with flavor and energy. This is my second favorite of the 2017 standard Napa Cab lineup of Mike Smith wines. Becklyn, at this point is the best in my opinion. 92-92+ Points.
Decided I'd see what all the hoopla is with this wine. Very tasty. Cedar and blueberry aromas. Cherry, blueberry, oak, vanilla and mint with soft tannins and a nice medium length finish. First few sips I thought this might have been a little overdone in the oak and vanilla but it balanced out very nicely. Solid 93.

I didn’t expect much from this vintage, but this wine is very good. Amazingly, I like it vintage better than the 2016, it’s showing really well to be so young. Dark reddish purple color, currants, blackberry, dark berry fruit and nice extraction. This is a nice, full bodied Cabernet exhibiting solid flavors and compelling energy for a baby. I like this wine. A very solid 94 points.

Decided to pop a bottle after a recent email exchange with the owners of Becklyn Cellars who surprisingly thought the 2017 vintage is at a better drinking point than the 2016 vintage with a decent decant. Figured the 2017 Quivet Napa cab can’t be far off in light of the blend. Dark ruby fruit - currants/cassis, blackberry, dark raspberry, and a little blueberry. Really smooth with a nice purity but a little lighter fruit than the last couple vintages. Really nice vibrant/full flavors of dark berries, spice box/licorice, and a little cocoa. As usual, the flavors are quite enticing as this youthful stage. Fairly long finish. Decanted for three hours and drank over a couple more. Improved with time but drinking quite well after the decant despite its youth. Drank next to the 2015 vintage and surprisingly I preferred the 2017 vintage which was more expressive/flavorful and also not as rich/sweet as the 2015 vintage - although the 2015 was quite enjoyable as well. 100% cab.
