The previous note from River Rat describes this well. Enticing savory Syrah aromatics, with a medium-full palate in an unadulterated style showcasing the wine's freshness. This is very drinkable now but is on the young side, with moderately grippy tannins framing the dark fruit and mineral notes on the finish. A treat.

Neon purple color, Ultra-savory nose of green olive tapenade, cherry and violets. Medium bodied, nice transition from fruit to chewy tannins. Finishes with juicy tart blackberry and pencil shavings. This wine attacks and tingles all my senses, a real treat to drink.

My style of Syrah. First experience with JL. Funky up front. Medium dark cherries, wet dog, damp earth. Lots of peppery truffle elements too. Palate is medium bodied, More spicy red fruit and earth. lots of acid - still youthful as a whole. Maybe just a tad tad thinner than I'd like... Still highly recommended especially for the price.

Violet with dark burgundy tinge on edges. Nose light violets and red fruits with a tinge of herbs and pyrazine. Palate red fruits with hint of green pepper, a slightly savory tinge. Seems a bit underripe but may just need more time to unfurl. 89 pts for now

Ruby colored Raspberry nose with some wild fermentation notes, cedar wood, leather, spruce / herbatious Taste raspberry, big but smooth tannins, black currents

A fairly austere wine made in a Northern Rhone style, shall we say. Comes out of the bottle with a super dark purple, clearly a lot of time on the skins. I would describe this as a very "dry" style - a horribly misused word in the wine world - but accurate here. The wine displays a lot of smoke, earth and savory elements, with the fruit just barely lurking in the background. Very firm acidity and gripping tannins. Finish is long but again, does not necessarily showcase the best of the fruit here. I don't regret buying but would probably not sure I'm going to go back, but I will definitely try some of the whites they make - if made in a similar style, they might be more interesting.

Possibly, the "biggest" Syrah from Halcon Vineyard that I can remember. Raspberry is the most noticeable fruit. Then a spice--cardomon? It just has such a big mouthfeel. Also, it is surprisingly smooth, I have another bottle of this, but I wish I had a lot more.

Very west coastal in style. Light in pepper but plenty of body.

For the first hour it was a little hard, but it softened in the decanter.

Green olives dominate the nose. Wonderful palate of fruit and blood. Textbook syrah. Delightful.
