  • Enjoyed with Braised short ribs, carrots + mashed potatoes. Initially, tight and tannic. Needs some air to open up, really enjoyed

  • 2016 Bric dël Fiasc. Oh baby, what a wine!

I was not expecting this. At all...

Gave a 3+ hour decant, then back into the bottle. Poured over 6 hours with friends. This was drunk alongside 2016 Lisini Ugolaia BdM and 2018 Salvioni BdM (1st time tasting the '18. A winner!)

On the nose, sweet dark woodland fruits and berries. It became more expressive with time in the glass. The dark yet sweet fruit inner core delivers a long, savory, and focused finish. A real seductress and temptress. A knock your socks off winner for PS with this wine. I loved it.

    Cheers!.

  • Really like this Barolo, complex, well balanced and smooth. To enjoy for many years but good already

  • Really good—. Pulled for grilled hanger steak and Saturday night football. Wow. A complete wine with a beautiful nose of rose petals. A bit dry on the mid palate — built for a nice tomato based sauce I am sure. Perhaps a ragu when winter hits?!

    I digress.

  • Decanted for a little while before enjoying with steak. Spicy aroma, dried flowers and cherries. Didn’t go through detailed notes, but had with a bone-in ribeye and it was a perfect match. Barely noticed the refined tannins — the bottle just disappeared over the course of dinner.

Visiting the producer in a couple weeks, I’m even more excited now.

  • Pnp at an Italian restaurant and drank over two hours. Didn't take any notes. The aroma was great, and on the palate the tannins were chewy yet refined. Great Barolo from an outstanding vintage!

  • This wine has tremendous aging potential and my score likely will improve with time. I only bought six and given the scores and the cost of the wine as well as its history, I couldn't resist and opened one for Christmas dinner. The bouquet tells the story of what will evolve, but unfortunately it needs at least five more years, minimum, before it will deliver on its potential. I advise anybody who hasn't consumed it, to sit on it. All of the others, both here and professional reviewers have gotten the flavor profile right. To me I got tart cherry on the pallette, leather, forest floor, and earthy notes. There were a lot of secondary and tertiary notes and the finish was long. Be patient

  • Superb. Had next to a 2009 Azelia Bricco Fiasco which is apparently owned by Paolo’s brother and the vineyard was split between them. Thanks to @JMELLET for sharing the 09!

Nose was just what I expect out of a powerful young Barolo. Leathery, Spicy, dried herbs, maybe some tobacco. Decanted about an hour, and could have gone longer. Palate was very velvety and smooth. Fine tannins with raspberry and almost a minty fresh finish.

Have 3 more and a magnum. Will let them sit for at least 3-4 more years before revisiting. Absolutely delicious.

  • Huge nose from the decanter while pouring. After an hour decanted — Very complex, sweet and lifted nose with cherries, some thyme, and something verging on baking spice. Plenty of fruit covering powdery tannins — everything in nice balance. Juicy and crunchy wine. Multidimensional is a good word for this. Very good. Classic iron fist in a velvet glove kind of wine. A keeper.

  • Aroma: medicinal cherry, mint and violets.
Palate: nicely balanced cherry flavors with thyme, violet and leather. Moderately acidic and quite tannic. Hold for the medium to long term.
