A perennial favourite. Lovely sweet red fruit which threatens to become a bit confected until the tannic grip comes in. Definitely better cellar cool and probably getting towards the drinking up stage as it doesn’t maybe have the longevity of one or two previous vintages. Still fine though.
Finished with wild mushroom risotto the following night, and worked really well. Sweet fruit and grippy tannins again.

Great showing from this lesser-known varietal. PnPed this with a casual Mediterranean mezze meal last week and was very impressed by its balance, delicious fruit. and relative tannic grip (despite being unoaked).
It lasted well into the second day and even drinkable on the third day.
While simple and somewhat inelegant, this wine offers up refreshing easy-drinking flavors at a decent price. I’d happily drink it again with any number of meals.

What an interesting wine! Not a deep dense colour - just light plummy red. A hot raisiny nose, sl savoury (it's more attractive than that sounds). Plenty of sweet fruit on the palate. All in the middle. Not very long. Velvety, yet very drinkable. You can almost feel that heat it was grown in. Not one to keep for long. Drink now.

A delightful surprise. Bright ruby red. Mixture of red fruit and spice on the nose, boiled sweets, raspberry jam. On the palate it’s fresh and fruity, light bodied but with a savoury overlay, hints of liquorice and musk, and some unexpectedly serious drying tannins. Invites another sip - very pleasing. I’d take this over a middle of the road Pinot any day of the week.

This is always such a great wine and this vintage is no exception. All the character and flavour of xinomavro without the fierce tannins of the classic stuff. There’s strawberries, tomatoes, Turkish delight, oregano, with citrus orangey resfrshing notes, finish some leather and rosemary. This is an absolute delight. Drunk with pasta with tomato sauce. Cost about £10-11 I think.

Raspberries spring to mind again. Hints of cinnamon, would go well with Mojusakka. Quite hard to categorise- easy drinking, charming, not sure how it would mature (too late for this bottle !). Good colour and plenty of fresh fruit on the nose - mainly raspberry and cherry. The palate was juicy showing some sweetness at first tasting but losing this quite soon and offering raspberry and other red berries as it opened (mainly red cherry but with some redcurrant acidity). Some spice early on but this developed further to include herbs (including mint) together with a really fragrant character. Good acidity and very long in the mouth. The tannins were understated and integrated adding structure but not intruding. This wine is new to me and offers more than just an attractive, fresh, juicy mouthful - it has real character and quality. Reminiscent of Pinot noir. 89+ Note. The wine was a very fine partner to slow-cooked beef brisket in a spiced barbecue sauce. A soft blue Danish cheese later brought out the softness and sweetness in the wine. A find.

Very light-bodied appearance - like spatburgunder; ruby and youthful. Light red fruits on the nose - not showing a lot but enough to make it enticing; a little cherry mixed in with the red berries. Light and fruity taste initially, but then it becomes apparent that here is some lovely integrated tannin and a savoury backbone. A mix of red berries. A bit like a classy Beaujolais Villages. APPEARANCE: Medium purple colour. Long, viscous legs on the glass. NOSE: Lovely, fruity, juicy nose. Full of raspberries with touches of cherries, morellos and the slightest hint of black currants. Then, gradually in the background appear sweet and oily Mediterranean herbs; sage, thyme, rosemary. (89p) TASTE: Indeed very identical to the nose, with the fresh, juicy berry fruitiness and the same berries as on the nose. The body and mouthfeel is soft, supple, medium rich and slightly viscous. There is a slight tannic backbone, just enough to keep the wine on the right side of becoming to soft and juice like. In the exit and aftertaste the herbs from the nose reappear in a harmonious and pleasant way and linger for quite a while in the medium long aftertaste. (88 “straight” points + 1 point for pure charm). OVERALL: Reminds me of a lovely, moreish Côtes du Luberon i had many years ago. This is so very drinkable now. I would not be surprised if this will manage a few years in the cellar, but I really don’t see much point in that, other than for scientific curiosity. An utterly charming almost-all-purpose wine. Dark coloured, thick, dark, brambly fruits, hint of carbonic fruit. On the palate juicy red and dark fruits, some savory, herby element of sage or bay. This is quite simple, but very approachable. Dark coloured, thick, dark, brambly fruits, hint of carbonic fruit. On the palate juicy red and dark fruits, some savory, herby element of sage or bay. This is quite simple, but very approachable. Nicely balanced fruit, acid and tannin, this is very adaptable, and slightly left-field for such a crowd pleaser

Really great - lovely crunchy raspberry fruit, moving into black cherry on the finish, with juicy red apple. A touch of sweetness keeps it all in balance. Tannins are fine and fuzzy. Immensely drinkable, and sophisticated in a completely unpretentious fashion.
