PnP. Garnet w/ dark pink edge in color. Nose of morello cherries, blackberries, sweet tobacco, licorice & basil. On the palate: cherries, sweet tobacco, red delicious apple, mandarin orange and subtle wood spice. Some alcoholic heat is perceptible. Sandy tannins are perceived on gums, cheeks & tongue. Long finish of red delicious apple, tobacco, wood spice and citrus. Overall, great QPR...lost a point for the alcoholic heat (which seems unlikely to resolve even with more time in the cellar).

Somewhat disappointing compared to bottles I've had from earlier vintages. Fairly shy nose - mostly plums. Plums dominate on the palate, with notes of assorted berries and a hint of vanilla. Medium body, with decent acidity. Less tannic that previous vintages. Very long, seamless, delicious finish. If this was a $10 to $15 grocery store wine, I'd be buying cases of it. Unfortunately, it set me back $26 (partly because I live in Ohio), and the borderline exceptional finish is the only thing that separates it from everyday grocery store wines. Day two: Nondescript fruit on the palate has morphed into bodacious, mouthfilling fruit, seamlessly leading to a terrific finish that seems to have improved somewhat. Originally scored at 85.

Purple bowl to rusty ruby rim. Tart blackberries and cherries, hints of spice, some wet leaves on the nose. Palate is cracked pepper, graphite, blackberries, dark chocolate shavings. Medium tannins and acidity.

Deep black-purple colour with fragrant and intriguing aromas of warm stones, blue flowers, possibly iris and underlying mineral. These are complemented by black plum, brown spices reminiscent of meat curry, star anise and pencil lead, all mingling with hints of coffee grinds - lots there! The wine opens with lively acidity, adding freshness then segues to warm fruit flavours that encompass black olives, blackcurrant, spice and an intriguing note of grappa. A firm but ripe tannic structure emerges, adding a grippy texture to the palate. Quite an elegant wine yet also powerful, the wine’s elevated 15.5% alcohol content makes it feel pressy and enhances the grappa notes, and gives a tabasco edge to the wine. It almost works as the wine has concentration and a robust flavour profile, but it tends to close with a hot fruit and nut note. To sip slowly! Perhaps will need further time in bottle 90+
Decanted for an hour. Magenta in the glass. Nose is bold fruit - plum, black cherry, blackberry, tobacco, and vanilla. Palate is the same. Modern in style. Medium acidity, medium + body, medium + tannin.

Didn't enjoy this quite as much as previous vintages. Heavy-handed oak dominates simple notes of boysenberry and plum, with a hint of tannin poking through on the medium finish.

This was a Costco purchase as an everyday drinking wine Dark violet to black in color. Nose of black fruit, sour cherries, and florals. Very fruity with tastes of blackberries , vanilla, and oak. Too much heat and burn from alcohol. Medium bodied. This wine is inexpensive and ordinary.

15.5% alcohol; imported by Moët Hennessey USA, Inc., New York City; real cork with 4 mm maximum wine penetration, faint cork aroma of sour hay, stone fruit and alcohol; medium weight foil; medium legs, dark ruby red/purple; opened, vinturied, and tasted 20 minutes later at room temperature (24 degrees C); nose of fruit, especially dark stone fruit, and alcohol, as well as wood and a little vanilla; this full-bodied Toro, a variety of Tempranillo, hits the tongue with its dryness and high alcohol content; the oak nicely tempers my initial impression into a complexity of wood, dark stone fruit, minerals, and forest floor, suitable for pairing with a variety of foods; lower calorie bison steak comes to mind, as well as pastas of all kinds

Very robust tempranillo. Dark fruit, pepper, smoke. Time helped it mellow a bit. Good acid and moderate-high tannin. Paired well with smoked meat. Not sure where folks are finding this for sub-$20 though.

Aromas of dark berries. In mouth the wine is fresh, vibrant, and fruit forward. Really delightful with medium tight tannin and abundant acidty. Not bad for a sub $20 wine. Worth finding

havent been here since the 2013 vintage.....seems more linear than i recall the wine..still its 15.5%....after time it fleshes out and is fleshy on palate, with spice, none of the meaty aromas that sometimes make this varietal seem to heavy in my opinion.....im not a fan of tempranillo in general but this is a rendition I dont mind...licorice and tobacco notes...the wine is NOT opaque in color...its got this cool purple fruit on nose the reminds me of savory bojo...theres some magic here in this, cinnamon, smoke ember, black fruits all framed quite snugly this vintage...showing great day 3 with a thickness across palate and lots of red fruit, big fat pour on last glass, fleshy and ripe...a clean, fresh tempranillo, lots of fruit but nice grit...

This continues to be one of my favorite sub-$20 expressions of tempranillo. Dark and brooding - chocolate, blueberry, dark cherry, root beer, eucalyptus, menthol, mocha, and lightly toasted coffee all enveloped by the warm embrace of oak.

80,000 dead and still here we are, full of restrictions ...
This wine depends greatly on the vintage. This bottle is obtained from the leftovers that have been previously discarded in the elaboration of Numanthia and the fruit of renewal vines. If you can find something from 2015 and even from 2010 I would recommend it besides this. Quality and some elegance for an earthy, slightly roasted and warm wine. It totally lacks depth and features more fruit than its older brother. On the palate it is not overwhelming or heavy, although it bores immediately and calls for food to calm its tannic and firm structure. Despite that plus of elegance compared to its peers, the sacrifice in the form of price seems excessive to me since for a little more you have Numanthia and for much less good examples of what a Toro wine is, which, I insist, is not for everyone.
