2nd of 3, decanted an hour, perfect level, cork third stained, more spice and lift than last bottle in Oct 18, fruit tending to red with surprisingly sour edge, usual Roumier purity and class, quite linear, more cerebral than pleasure packed, slightly lacking in roundness and volume, possible upside, 10+ years. F+ (18).

Charleston VI; 11/3/2021-11/7/2021 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): Another favorite of mine from the tasting and I found myself going back to it through the night. Ripe and bright and tea leaves and slightly unripe cranberry and a hint of sour but a hint of sweet and just overall comes across as elegant and tasty.

Excellent and immediately open nose. Red and black berries, Underwood, truffle aromas. A vibrant wine. Lovely complexity. Good length as well and still a long life ahead.

1st of 3, decanted 80 minutes, perfect cork and level, showing more raspberry than my Feb 16 note suggests and a little more toward full maturity, not that the colour suggests anything but youth and this carries through to the palate though the nose is more advanced and beguiling, impressive purity and balance and nice underlying richness, scope for upside from current F+ (18).

Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru Dinner (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): Wow. I was floored by this. Probably the wine of the night amidst a rather ridiculously good line-up; this was an absolutely wonderful bottle. It had a peacock’s tail of a nose, with spice and bramble and sweet red fruit and earth and flowers. Beautiful. It was the palate where this really shone though. Powerful and pure, with punchy flavours of red cherries, earth and spice wrapped into a perfect whole, and then a spine of fine tannins and integrated acidity pulling away into a powerful, insistent, effortless finish. Power and delicacy, depth and transperancy, all in a beautifully put together package. It was stunning. This had everything.

Extreme amplitude of dark fruit and earth on the nose. This was drinking very young today. There is still some oak presence on the palate in the form of slight hints of spearmint. There is plenty of density to the fruit on the palate to provide balance. The wine is also very polished and suave. This is great now but I suspect it has some upside as well.

Chez W, hour decanted - medium ruby, some rim development; classy bouquet, bramble and stewed plum, touch of spice, meat and vanilla; medium bodied, very long and persistent, classy complex fruit, grip, tightened in the glass and not as expressive or as pleasurable as Lambrays 99 on same night, higher mark expected in 5 to 10 years. F+ (18).

- Ruby color and aromas of violet and blackberry. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry with a medium body. Satin-Like texture with a long finish.

Slighty rusty color, but mostly medium-red. Top feature on the overall are the aromatics -- just fantastically earthy; more so than just about any wine in recollection. Very nice on the palate too -- fairly red-fruited, good acidity. Some secondary components at this point. A little heat here and there, but not overly problematic. Should be excellent for 10+ years.

A birthday celebration (EL Ideas - Chicago IL): Black cherry and blackberry with moderate ripeness but lots of power to start. Great spice on both nose and palate, lots of intensity in every way. Long and very well textured. Just entering its peak drinking window, really impressive.

Medium red in color, very alluring nose of red floral notes, spices and slight bit of dried meat. Medium palate with decent fruit, not big or profound but in a great place to drink snd enjoy, very nicely made and quite strong house style if not overly so.

Keith's Blind Challenge 2013 (The Square, London): A little more volatile on the nose. A little leather etc. 2003 Burgundy? Quite fragrant, bloody, a bit of orange. Our MWs are in Syrah but I really don't think so. Gevrey? Yes. Either top 1er or GC. The latter. Nicely dry and savoury, some bitter cherry fruit. Still needs time but this has potential. ***(*)

Very toasty oak was in the forefront of both the nose and palate tonight with black cherry and plum underneath. Dark spice on the nose, as well as throughout the palate. A somewhat short finish. It has some great elements, just needs to come together in my opinion.

Chas Offlineorama VI, Another embarrassment of riches; 11/3/2021-11/7/2021 (Various locations): A little tight at first. As the evening progressed it opened nicely with a great mix of tart and sweet red fruits with a kick of cinnamon. Great backbone, power, and length.
