Glorious Waterside Inn (The Waterside Inn, Bray): Decanted and served. Just really for the sediment as the wine is touch fragile and we would not suggest a long decant. Fragile but also singing from the word go. Frankly have w head this blind we would have said 1980s Bordeaux maybe a Pauillac on account of a soft austerity of fruit. So well evolved, tertiary, earthy, leather and tobacco, cedar and spice. All hallmarks of Bordeaux really . A magical wine and such a joy to cross paths with it. 93

wonderful aroma and flavour of wild strawberries alongside the expected notes of tertiary aromas (undergrowth/mushroom). On its plateau and bringing a lot of joy.

Brief note, informal tasting. Fresh nose of herbs, red raspberry, and with a very funky nose compared to 87 Mas Daumas de Gassac tasted alongside. Lithe with still lively acidity, gained depth over the first hour open but did fade slightly over the course of the evening. Bottle likely at peak maturity.

91 pts

Similar to the 85, but a touch richer and more concentrated. More red fruit and less complex, touch of pepper and a even some strawberry jam. Overall though it's again a treat to drink. I slightly preffered the older wine, but there is nothing really to choose between them. Yum, yum.

Domaine de Trevallon (Rouge) Offline (Alba, London): More poised and focused nose. A lot tighter and more focused palate. Again, parralels with 86 claret. Seems a bit hard after a while. ****(*) or ***(*)? Not sure.

Stinky nose gave way to deep boquet of black berries and cassis. Silky feel in the mouth. Balanced with excellent finish. No noticeable tannins. A mature wine that relies more on finesse than strength but is not understated.

Young, fairly hefty; purplish rim. Nose a bit sulfurous. Very ripe flavors of berries, moderate tannins.
