Brought this wine to New Ubin Seafood (Stevens) for dinner with my in-laws to celebrate a birthday tonight. We ordered the green dragon vegetables, prawn paste chicken, spam fries, oyster omelet, ribeye steak with wedges, garlic baked crab, salted egg crab, carbonara, fried hokkien mee and kaya toast.
Fresh ripe plums, with juicy black berries and a rounded mouthfeel. What a lovely wine this was! No doubt it has the potential to age and improve further, but this wine is drinking well this evening and singing at the top of the barn at this moment.

It is exquisite now, I m telling you boys and gals, the now lesser and cold years are the best !!! Plus a change in style since 2017 in the Tenuta it just piles up over quality
Nose of red and black fruits and integrated oak, the little Cabernet vegetal side adds complexity and freshness to that gracile nose... palate is refined and elegant, the wine might nit go ever 15 more years but at present it is stupendously good !
Really a great Guidalberto !

APPEARANCE This is a deep ruby wine with the slightest tinge of garnet beginning to show on the rim.
NOSE On the nose, the wine has medium+ aromas of red cherry, and cranberry, hints of cinnamon and vanilla, and very slight whiffs of sweet tobacco and eucalyptus. The wine is developing.
PALATE Structurally, the wine is dry and has medium body, medium alcohol, medium+ acid, and medium+ ultrafine tannins. The acid waits a couple seconds to show but comes on strong. It has an elegantly thin (but not too thin) texture for what appears at first to be a big, bold Super Tuscan.
The wine shines on the palate, showing pronounced intensity and flavors of fresh cranberry, blackberry juice, dried oregano, Earl Grey tea, and lightly dusty, untreated leather in addition to the other aromas found on the nose. The wine has a medium+ finish, with mostly the fresh fruit flavors lingering.
QUALITY The wine is very well balanced, with strong concentration of flavor and aromas, complexity, and finish. The flavor intensity surpasses the intensity on the nose. It is of very good quality and may become outstanding with another 5-10 years of age as the tertiary aromas and the complexity improves.
AGING POTENTIAL This wine is excellent now after just over 5 years of aging but will continue to improve with age for at least another decade as the tertiary aromas continue to appear and strengthen. The tannins have evolved to be soft and fine but retain a nice structural tug at the back of the tongue. The current acid and tannin structure is sufficient for further aging, and the flavor concentration is of no concern at all, with powerful fresh fruit still dominating the palate.

I have put it in blind tasting against Sassicaia 2017. Guidalberto was by far the winner, the wine being already very well balanced with long-lasting fruity taste.

Cherry, cassis, blackberry and touch of raspberries. Nice darker notes of earth and oak along with some liquorice and spices. Drinking very nicely and opened up well in glass. Probably the best bottle I tasted so far from the case.

Three hours in the decanter and then into a Pinot glass. My impression of the 2018 was similar to the 2020. The color was nice and the nose was fragrant. The wine itself exhibits little personality. I sipped for three evenings and I did not sense any improvement. This is not a 95 point wine as JSJONES suggests.

No detailed noted in the social context. Muted, almost dusty nose. Great body and opened up nicely in the decanter. Lots of purple fruit with good acidity and some darker tertiary notes underpinning. Enjoyable with pizza then a cigar!

Opened this wine at home over our annual year end gathering. We ordered food from Fatty Daddy Fatty Mummy.
Ripe purple in colour. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Tightly woven with Bordeaux notes. Plums, ripe berries, and a touch of cigar. Well structured with a medium body. Would have mistaken this wine for a Left Bank in a blind tasting.
Still holding up very well. In no rush to open this bottle. Do consider leaving it in the cellar for the next few years.

Decanted for 3 hours. Would have preferred to keep this for a few more years but someone asked to try it so opened for Saturday dinner if wagyu sirloin and garlic mash with which it paired well.
Dark Ruby color and cherry with plum and a whiff of raspberry and tobacco on the finish. Medium tannins, well structured with plenty of body from start to finish.
Despite its youth it is approachable now. This wine punches above its weight and will improve over the next 5-10 years.
As another reviewer pointed out this is the same ownership as Sassicaia. From 2022 a new winery is coming online which will be a separate facility from the Sassicaia winery. The owners want to build the Guidalberto brand so that it is no longer known as the Sassicaia ‘second’ wine.
I expect to see improvement in quality and an uplift in price on future Guidalberto vintages so stock up on the recent vintages while you can.

Excellent Toscana wine composed of 60/40% Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot. Deep ruby color in the glass. Intense Red fruit flavors of dark cherry, raspberries and black currants. On the palate, mouthfeel is lusciously complex, yet approachable. This wine can likely be enjoyed for another 5-8 years. Outstanding wine. Note: this wine is produced by the same producer as the famous Sassicaia wine.

Dark ruby. Nose of dark fruits, underpinned by subtle earth and black pepper. Palate quite sweet, ripe. Dark cherries and raspberry balanced with some liquorish and spices/black pepper. Had a rustic feel with a touch of earthiness. Tastes young but still ready. Nice balance in terms of acidity and alcohol. Not too powerful, thanks to lower alcohol. Good finish.

Amazingly rustic and dry super Tuscan. Even if it could use more time in the bottle, I think a 93 is a Fair score for its potential. Best drunk in 5-7 years from vintage.
Great body for a wine that was only 13%, didn’t feel light at all. Wasn’t velvety, but was perfectly balanced between old world fruit and old world terroir .

Lovely, bold, and very drinkable. Black cherry, raspberry, cedar, black pepper, and some jammy notes. Lovely ripe fruit. There’s something quite smoky - like a well-toasted slice of brioche.

Bright light red color. Almost a pinot like softness with medium acidity. Totally nothing you'd expect in the glass before you open the bottle. Perfect with fresh mozzarella and balsamico.

Pours dark, translucent garnet. Aroma of black cherries and wet earth. Light body that is nonetheless full of texture. Red fruited, cherry over a leafy tobacco note. Graphite, baking spices. Oaky vanilla is a distant note in the background, but present if you look for it. Good acidity and silky tannins on the finish. Light at 13%. Definitely a very old school wine. Oaky fruity cab drinkers look elsewhere.
Stunning, and I mean transcendental, when paired with raw milk cheddar.

There’s a lot to like here. Savoury herbs, graphite, dark cherry compote, plenty of black fruit, a bit of tobacco, but Paulliac this is not. There’s good balance - the acidity and tannins are perfectly in order, balanced with good intensity of fruit. It’s clearly not Sassicaia, but I think this is drinking pretty well right now and will hold for a few more years yet.

A traditional kind of cabernet -- black-fruited, structured by tannins, with moderate acidity and full body -- that provides pleasure even in its youth. A couple more years in the cellar might result in mellowed tannins and more forward fruitiness, but the wine probably doesn't have the intensity for the long haul and I would recommend drinking it sooner rather than later (unless you really don't like tannins).

Very well put together, elegant wine. The wine has great fruit character - lots of ripe red and dark fruits. A touch of cedar / tar brings added complexity. Tastes like there’s a bit of Sangiovese even though there isn’t any! Very nice acidity and freshness. Had it the wine over two nights - the wine was great the first night but even better on night two!

Considering it is a bordeaux blend from 2018 this is surprisingly smooth feels like the napa 2015 vintage. Alcohol content is reasonable at 13% so you don't get drunk like the napa cabs that are hitting 15%. Tannins are there but not harsh and instead softly coat. Ready to drink soon after you pour with a little swirl/aeration though keeping for 15-30 min wont' hurt. Aroma of fruit is enticing without the usual overpowering oak. Reasonable for the price.

Deep garnet with ruby edges. Intense pungent nose of dirt, mushroom and sweet tobacco. Palate of frutti di bosco and bing cherries with silky smooth tannins leading into a medium to long finish. Drinking surprisingly well, but was definitely revealing more with time to breathe and probably would have been even better if we had decanted in glass for an hour or two.

Takes a lot of coaxing but the fruit that eventually shows itself here has class; lovely texture, good balance, a nice elegance here. Accessible, no need to wait to enjoy this though a few years of mellowing wouldn’t do it any harm.

This is the first time I've drunk anything from the late teens. I thought it might be as tannic as chewing on a rosemary stalk, but it was nothing like that. In fact, it was even enjoyable, which was a surprise. The nose was open, with notes of black cherries and soy. On the heavier side of medium bodied on the palate, the tannins were present but finely etched, not overwhelming; and the fruit was vibrant and open-knit, with noticeable finesse in the rounded finish. Good wine. I'm almost tempted to say with a decent decant it's ready to drink, though seeing 2018 on the label still shocks me a little. I'm so old school...

I believe I can sense the Merlot rather clearly. Like a wet tobacco, plummy and slightly fresh leathery thing going on in the nose but after a few hours you also find some coffee and cherries start to pop out. Tannins, fruit and acid all good. Should improve with a couple of years. As comparison we had a tour de Pressac ‘14 next to it. And that wine had the truffles of some further ageing. But there is a resemblance and Guidalberto also has an Italian undertone. Think it is the cherries

Great wine in the sense that it had good fresh fruit. It was tannic upon opening however softened up after a half hour. Probably could have saved for another year or two.

Good value. Definitely a hint of Sass on the nose. Still quite young but a lovely wine nonetheless.

Baby Sassicaia! And actually smells like it too. Just a touch of green to it. A little more plump in the palate than expected. Going strong.

Great wine.
Worth the price.
Very earthy with fungal delight, cherry and finish of deliciocity.
It paired nicely with fresh crab obtained from Half Moon Bay for $9/lb.
Really good night.

After 2 days open bottle the fruit settles and shows maturity and freshness that is spesial and also shows that this is a special nice vintage. Raspy tannins, vibrant fruit, long and savoury out.

Great wine in the sense that it had good fresh fruit. It was tannic upon opening however softened up after a half hour. Probably could have saved for another year or two.
